Isn't that very judgemental?2021BJ said:Hard to believe someone who isn't even out of a DMP yet applying for cards like there's no tomorrow the moment the brakes are let off.

More like a warning. Not that they'll take any notice of it.cymruchris said:

I'm not tempting fate, maybe if a next one happens, it could be similar though not exact reasoning.2021BJ said:Hard to believe someone who isn't even out of a DMP yet applying for cards like there's no tomorrow the moment the brakes are let off.

No, it is not. I speak from my personal experience. Of course it depends on where you live, but here in London, all these hipster type places don't tend to accept it. Some of them only accept cash! My work canteens don't accept it, local pizza place, local cafe etc etc. I can never rely on my Amex alone. Sadly Amex has not tackled this issue.blue.peter said:Deleted_User said:1 in 4 payments I would say do not accept Amex physical store wise.IME, that's an exaggeration.
Edit: Yeah I didn't know what IME meant either. I think my credit limit is £13.5 k but I may ask for more. Just for the sake of it.1 -
I never said you were tempting fate, nor did I say the reason would be the same as the last one.Dandytf said:

But with all due respect, you're acting a bit like a kid in a candy shop when it comes to credit cards right now. Aside from it being a bit odd that you were chastising lenders for offering you so much unsecured credit in the Amazon thread you made, and then continuing to apply for it, your behaviour is waving all sorts of red flags. Especially as you're now facing redundancy, with the very real prospect of not finding work for a while.
All those cards you now have are going to be mighty tempting if you're forced onto UC or JSA...0 -
Dont know where you are considering as hipster but all the places we go in Shoreditch, Peckham etc that are full of beardy hipster types almost all use iZettle etc and so do accept AmEx. Same goes for all the craft brewery places in Bermondsey. Even the Mrs accepts it when she does her popups around Dalston etc.Deleted_User said:No, it is not. I speak from my personal experience. By spend less than 2% of my card spend goes onto my backup Visa card and everything else goes on AmEx.
AmEx have said that I can go up to £55,000 in the past

One time A guy told me they did not accept Amex but I tried it and it worked, so I do not know if that Zettle charges more for Amex and they pretend they can't accept it. I still find it is very hit and miss. My two local shops, two coffee shops and cafe do not accept it.Sandtree said:

According to the site the fee is the same for all cards so no idea what was going on there.

iZettle fees are card agnostic, same with the other similar solutions.[Deleted User] said:

Our local cornershop was the only notable exception until 2 years ago when a Coop was put in thats even closer to us and they do accept AmEx.
AmEx has a bad rep about being expensive to accept and that certainly used to be true. These days the difference is much less than it used to be and plenty of FinTech solutions like iZettle make no difference at all. If we see they have iZettle or any of the similar devices we don't ever ask if they take AmEx but just use the card.0
