I just hope the OP applies for a savings account with Coventry and then comes back to confirm that it was closed, just FYI after I had my marker I applied with 5 building societies including Coventry and they were all closed within a week of opening because of cifas. All I’m doing is speaking from experience.
Your experience is not the norm though.
Anyone who struggles because of a CIFAS marker should head to their local BS and open a passbook account unless they want to pay for some prepaid account!

I’m so tempted to apply for the Coventry and then show you the letter when it gets closed but I don’t want any recent records with companies that I might want a mortgage from when the markers gone next year.
  • Thanks for all the help, I’ve currently opened a case with Cifas and financial ombudsman to check starlings report out, il try open a passbook account or a building society account while this is taking place
  • Let us know if the building society accounts work

I’m in the middle of it getting disputed with cifas and starling the only other option atm I can find is to try thinkmoney-heard they accept people and I’ve also opened a local credit union account which allows you top open a engage prepaid card through the credit union hopefully these work? Has anyone tried thinkmoney yet
  • Yes I used think money when I first had my marker they are fine to use mate and it shouldn’t get closed down

How long ago was this I’m scared to apply and get declined
  • It was 2018 mate, as I recall they didn’t do a hard credit search as it’s pre paid card but I can’t be sure. I think it’ll be fine
