Which contradicts your statement that you can't get basic bank accounts with a CIFAS marker, so you are arguing with your own previous point

You can use coventry building with a cifas marker with no issue.
  • OP take the others advice and attempt to open one of these accounts today try Coventry and then come back in a week and let us know if it’s still open and operating ok, hope it is for u but it won’t it’ll get closed after you open it as building societies do fraud checks Eve for savings accounts. Really don’t understand why people won’t listen. I’ve had the marker for 5 years I tried it all, basic accounts, building societies, savings accounts they all get closed you simply can’t have them. All you can get is the prepaid accounts. So if the OP comes back in a week or 2 and says they have got an account with Coventry and it’s operating normal I’ll hold my hands up but it won’t happen. Everyone is giving the OP false hope. Just get a pre paid card account and get your head down for 5 years learn a lesson and move on.

Ill put money on the OP having no issue open a Coventry Instant Access saver account and NOT having it closed...
Yes you can open sim building society savings accounts without an issue.  There are many local ones to choose from
  • I hope it works but why are Coventry on the cifas members list then if they accept people with the marker on? It wouldn’t make sense? It would mean they’re not adhering to what they agree to as being a member?

the fact a member is in the scheme does not mean they automatically decline people who have markers again
The marker is not there for firms like CBS to automatically decline people.
As a provider of mortgages it does checks for the advancement of the required credit facility.
  • Ok well I disagree but that’s ok we will see how the OP gets on
  • Agreed with brown trout.
Simply being a member of the CIFAS body doesn’t mean that those businesses cede control of their risk limits when choosing who to do business with.
  • I just hope the OP applies for a savings account with Coventry and then comes back to confirm that it was closed, just FYI after I had my marker I applied with 5 building societies including Coventry and they were all closed within a week of opening because of cifas. All I’m doing is speaking from experience.
