Mademoiselle said:Change of plan for this afternoon as got home to find the fridge freezer had stopped over the weekend and so that needs attention. Local cheese is lovely but oh the smell when the fridge has been off for a few days! Little party room fridge fired up and has what could be saved in it. I've kept the stuff from the freezer that was still cold and put it in the fridge, will plan to use it up this week, going to be some interesting meals! DH messed about with fridge but no joy so new one ordered and being delivered and fitted on Friday morning.
I'm halfway round the Living room, three of the 5 shades are down and washed. I've also made soup for dinner - it began life as carrot and coriander but also has lentils and swede in. Made a huge pan, eaten some for lunch and I have 6 generous portions cooling.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Good afternoon. Thanks ladies for the lists!
I was awol at the end of last week. I had my jab on Thursday (az one). I had the shivers overnight (I am never cold in bed - quite opposite!) and then had a headache all day Friday. It finally eased on Saturday morning, which was just as well as I had safeguarding training in the morning!
I feel better now, but struggling to get motivated to do anything! I cleared a load of paperwork yesterday, so I now have a huge shredding pile again - that will keep the compost bin going anyway 😁 I like the idea of culling photos - thanks Honeybear 🙏💡
WM has been on - now in the TD. DH is out running, so more washing when he gets back. I have sorted out the flowers he bought me, and I now need to empty the food bin into Lottie the Hottie. The sun is shining, so I will do that now, then take the dog out as we both need some exercise! I am just finishing off my lunch first.
Round (Aka Naggy Nora 😂) just to let you know, I had a contact lense check 2 weeks ago (eye test due in July), a smear in November & a mammogram in December, so I am all up to date there. I do need to phone the dentist though as my crown fell out at the beginning of LD1 and I haven't sorted it yet!! 😱 I also need to book an appointment for my 2nd jab, so I will do that today (hopefully!) Thanks for keeping us healthy 😊
Ok - I had better do something useful then.....
Have a good week everyone 😊10 -

Rosie and I spent a couple of hours out in the garden before lunch. I have swept up all the leaves on the lawn and in the yard area, dumped them together with a load of branches off the overhanging trees in the copse opposite the back gate (whence they came), set up the trestles and tabletop, covered them with some of the roofing felt that I bought a couple of weeks ago for that purpose, lifted 3 large pots of hostas onto the table, put the bags of compost underneath it, and stood the other hostas in front. I also emptied out the gunge from Rosie's outside water dish - actually a deep crock pot - and put some fresh ice in it to melt and give her the special taste that she prefers to mains water.
Off out for our walk now, while the sun is shining9 -
ionafan said:Wanders off wondering what HB is planning to declutter for Lent and whether I can turn my mind to anything over and above the ancestral papers... ... ...I'm finally dealing with The Paperwork Mountain. I think I must be a "lazy hoarder" as well as a "security-hoarder" . If I can't be bothered to read it when it arrives I eventually file it after it's sat in my filing tray for a few months although those eventually do get chucked in a filing cabinet clearout. I have to stop this lazy habit, though. The Security Hoarding is actually much more serious in terms of volume because I don't think I can throw any documents away in case they're needed in the future. I know tax documents are six years but does that mean I can now throw 2014/2015 as it's 2021, or is it a different year, earlier or later? (I happen to remember you know these things, Ionafan!) For example, I've been sent a chunk of paperwork from the family's accountants (at least three generations of involvement so goodness knows what's in there), and I've never been able to let go of anything connected with life assurance, insurance etc etc etc. The attic is awash with the stuff. I plan to dispose of just one piece of hoarded paperwork on the first day of Lent, two on the second etc which will give me a whopping 800 pieces of paper out by the end of it.I'm having a practice run today - I'm working on the Garden file and am typing up all my useful notes into one Word Document which I'll send as an Attachment in an email as my backup instead of printing it, and chuck all the bits of paper. I only meant to combine all the paperwork on blueberries on to one piece, and now I'm doing a whole fat file because I've got time and the inclination. So far 43 bits are in the bin. I'm rather pleased with myself.Thing on a stick has been run around the cobwebby areas in half the house, bottom up. I'll do the other half, top down, next week.
Better is good enough.9 -
HB can you scan the papers, then get rid, if you need them you have a scan copy.I did this with photos / paperwork from my late parents both of whom horded 'stuff' any way its gone, a memory stick is available to my siblings if they so wish, they were offered the photos/ paperwork but both said no.On point of interest business insurance policies have to be kept for 40 yearsBulk bird feed decanted down into old 6 ltr milk cartons, easier to handle, and less mice!Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

Valli thanks for the tip about the fridge, I am lucky enough to have a spare old fridge in the party room (outbuilding) so not a great problem and found a replacement in the sales with free delivery. The only inconvenience is the smell from some lively cheese, but now that it is in the outside bin it's getting better.
Round, we were only talking this morning about when DD2's car MOT is due. June so noted in diary to get it booked in May. I must admit I do have a few medical bits to book. And I MUST organise a service for the boiler and both pellet stoves and chase up the roofer to confirm when roof is being replaced, I have the money for this so no excuse not to book it.
I know it's stupid as we are vey lucky to have plenty of savings but because my car was serviced and had timing belt changed last week, and I paid deposit, agency fees and first months rent for DD2 and now a fridge I feel no more should be spent until next month so won't organise stuff. It's daft as that is why we have a savings account for emergencies and all of these charges are planned for. Just don't like to see my spreadsheet go into the red, as I start again at zero in January even though there was plenty left at the end of December.
Too much waffle and it's not getting my lesson plans done for tomorrow. I'm off9 -
Surprise visit from DS and GF - it's allowed as they are my bubble. DS had made Rocky Road and brought me a slice - very good it was too. They departed with one oversized carrier bag and two normal sized carrier bags of DS's 'stuff'. Fer-ling.
Glad to be of service ionafan ()

Flowers sorted, food bin emptied & Lottie the Hottie has been stirred up a bit. She was a bit cold, so I am hoping the added food will heat her up a bit! I picked up the poo in the garden & have walked the dog in the sunshine. We walked along the brook path past my allotment - it would appear to not be water logged (yay!) Fingers crossed we don't get too much rain this week and I may be able to spend some time there at the weekend! 😁
DH has had a bath and I can hear him cleaning now (I dropped a subtle hint 😉)
I am firing up the laptop now to sort my vaccination appointment & I will phone the dentist 😬😱10
