HSBC Advance Switch Is Back £125

Started a switch last week (10th). Still had nothing but an SMS to tell me they are busy. Pretty shocking so far.0

Apologies if it's already been covered on this thread but can I simply setup a s/o each month to transfer in £1750 and then flip it out the next day to meet the minimum funding requirements?

Yes, and you can even transfer it out on the same day. Whether you set up the transfer out as an SO or whether you do it manually is down to you. I tend to do the transfers out manually, to be certain I have the available funds. Doing the transfers in manually as well is only a minor additional effort, so I do those manually, too.1

Question about new HSBC account and the telephone banking security number.
I opened using this HSBC switching account offer a couple of weeks ago. All went very smoothly and quick. Got debit card and PIN in a few days after applying. However, I cannot access internet banking as you need the telephone banking security number to register and I haven't been sent one. Do these get sent out automatically?0 -
I received my debit card and pin approx 10 days ago and still haven't received the telephone banking security number. I did speak to customer services last week and they said it was sent out on 17th. Switch should complete tomorrow, but it would have been good to get online before then to check my DD's and SO'sVXman said:Question about new HSBC account and the telephone banking security number.

It's generally a good idea to ensure that the account is fully up and running, including online banking, testing transactions in/out, etc, before initiating the switch - too late now for you obviously, but hopefully others looking in can see how it can potentially go wrong if rushing the switch....droberts26 said:

Another great example why you should never request a switch before you haven't got full access to your new account.droberts26 said:

Fortunately I'm not that daft - it isn't my main bank account so not particularly bothered. Out of 5 switches I've done over the last 3 years it is the only one that's been slow. Well done to Monzo, Halifax, Lloyds and NatWest for their smooth switches.0

I recently opened an account and have received card and PIN, but no phone banking number yet (though only applied last week). The email I received says to call if any of these items don't arrive within 7 working days, on the number in colsten's post...
