TC77, I can relate to your dd2; I also don't like change in the basics (home) when many other things are going on and taking my energy. However, I always feel better if it is finally done, so I would suggest to persevere and update whatever needs updating. It would probably lessen your stress symptoms, too (my stress symptoms are fatigue, grinding my teeth and eczema).

@balabooberlies.... glad I make you laugh!
I think it's important to add a bit of humour to our situations..... otherwise we would just cry, feel sorry for ourselves, and just give in to it all!
If we can lift the mood... then lifting our spirits will help us to get through the day.... to achieve more but for me, most of all, to feel better about myself!
For those of you with backgrounds in office work, admin etc.... here's something worth thinking about.....
Your in-tray will NEVER be empty!
This is true to life..... it will NEVER be empty.... and when we die.... someone else will have to clear it out!
All of you dealing with probate etc.... Will know what I mean.
But here's another thought
LIFE IS FOR LIVING
Bit by bit we will get through our in-trays.... and try not to fill them up so much. Instead, start a new in-tray of good things.... a bucket list!
I'm fed up of fire fighting problems around me... ill health.... stress.... OTHER PEOPLE'S stress!
I'm going to give myself until 21st June (supposed end of lockdown) to get my life in the best order that I can..... and then I am going to leave my comfort zone!!!5 -
When I find that things overwhelm me with the mess I find that if I leave a room tidier than when I entered it then I have achieved something. It can be as small as straightening a cushion on the sofa .
Barb - it's a great idea to have things more in order by end of lockdown. I, too, want to enjoy the greater freedom we will have soon. It should spur me on to sort stuff that I've been putting off for too long. Much of it won't take that long once I start.5 -
BarbCh, hope the visit to the dentist went ok, tooth pain can be horrendous. I think the kettle on and sitting down with a hot drink is very important now and again.
Rats back in our walls -really thought we'd found and blocked up route - redundant drain from when the extension was built.
I always say to friends we have to accept these things happen and not be surprised by hassle and ups and downs, and need to take my own advice
The sun is out here and as bala has said here or on other threads, have a gentle day x

you too TC77
Gentleness is underestimated. It's incredibly powerful.

@TC77 hope you are feeling better today.... it was a check up not tooth pain.
I was always terrified of the dentist due to a bad experience as a child... so I used to let things get really bad before I would go to the dentist!
I now have a brilliant young dentist who is very funny and understands my fear.... which has now almost gone! (Along with most of my teeth lol!)
I did a bit of food shopping after the dental visit and although it was just a small shopping trip.... it wiped me out for the day.... took my meds when I got home and then wasn't fit to do anything for the rest of the day......
I recognise that this is half my problem when it comes to clutter..... I actually hate being cluttered.... yet it accumulates around me when I am in pain and not physically able to do something! Due to this, I accumulate things around me that I think I'm going to need, so that I don't have to keep moving to get them..... so I end up with stuff surrounding me!
I have a box of medicines that I keep on a side table.... but yesterday put it away in a cupboard.....
Feeling in pain I went up to bed... just to relax my legs and sit up to read....but instead I kept looking at a vanity case full of facial products that I have, so I decided to tidy it up and actually use it.... and had a mini facial!
I've got to start taking care of myself.......
Today am still in pain with my back and legs, but am beginning to accept that I can't do the things that I was once able to do.......
So today I'm following my own rule of doing three things...... not yet decided though, if that is 3 things as I go into each room..... or 3 things the whole day. Lol!
But anything is progress!

Good morning everyone.Physical pain is so draining isn't it, it really saps my energy. Which is why I am so determined to take charge of the clutter this year, for once and for all. I think that if I get rid of all the extraneous stuff and keep everything streamlined then life will be easier. It's a slow job but I seem to making some progress. The house is definitely tidier these days. Still a bit further to go but I'll get there.Yesterday I tackled my kitchen/diner. I even cleaned the oven. 😱😂. Not my favourite job.Barb. Good to see you are upping the personal care, it's a good place to start. Some people think it's vanity but I don't think it is. I think self care is very important. Taking care of ones appearance, a bit of slap and wearing something that makes us feel attractive lifts our spirits and helps promote healing.
I am determined that once winter is over I am going to have the mother of all wardrobe sort outs, anything dull, boring, frumpy, unflattering or past it's sell by date will go. I have booked a hair cut for next week. Time for a new look, time to introduce a bit of va va voom back into my life. 😂🤣
Summer is coming......❤️7 -
@helensbiggestfan. Va va vroom! You go girl... I will be doing the same.
Today I am going to do things that don't require a lit of physical effort.... so I'm going to sort out my make up stash..... I gave lots of it but never wear it!
Even as a teenager I never wore a lot of makeup or frequent the sunbeds as was the rage in my teen years!
Hence I do have good skin for my age and certainly don't look as old as I am!
I would only wear makeup if I was going out somewhere other than shopping etc..... but I'm going to change my mindset and wear it EVERY TIME I go out....
Like you.... I am going to sort out the frumpy wardrobe etc.
I always graded my clothes into.... that will do for cleaning and decorating in now! The trouble now, is that I have more clothes for lounging around, cleaning and decorating, than I do to get dressed up in!

I'm going to watch that Sort Your Life Out show today. I think it was this thread where you were talking about it.
I'm feeling nervous about going out properly again now after being indoors so long. I will probably go to a charity shop or two next week to see what it is like out there! I am ordering a dress for when I go out to London on the 23rd, I think it is. The day I finally get my hair cut.
I have vacuumed downstairs and mopped the floor as I didn't get around to doing it yesterday. I went out for a walk and it's nice and sunny. I think that is all I'm going to do today.6
