villagelife said:My neighbours moved out about 2-3 weeks ago now and since then I have felt so much lighter and more positive. I have felt able to make plans and look forward and an now happy to be at home.
I hadn't realised how much of an effect the neighbours having on me. He used to watch every time I went out and stood and watched me in the garden.
I, too, am visualising where I want my life to be and taking tiny steps to achieve that. I do know that I don't do well with diets but am making small changes to my meals which are healthy and tasty and it doesn't feel like a diet.
My finances are being sorted and hopefully will be able to stop work when DH semi retires.
Small items have left the house but as had recent work done to the house most stuff is in a spare bedroom and only things I want to keep are coming downstairs at the moment.
It causes so much more stress than you realise and the relief when they go, is priceless..... just sorry for their new neighbours!
I now live next door to a retired vicar! And the only noise I get through the wall is when he plays the piano... and I just listen.

I have polar swings of hyperactivity and executive dysfunction when I’m in normal physical health thanks to ADHD. I’ve been physically ill for the last 11 months which hasn’t helped. I just don’t know where to start.
Has the world ended because you had days where you did nothing ? No !
Just enjoy and take advantage of when you get the 'spurts'.
I did half the kitchen and half the bathroom yesterday. It will be finished today. Fingers crossed.
Start by liking yourself. You are unique. Probably lovely, kind, caring, etc.........
Really hope you recover your health as quickly as possible.

xIt’s time for another clear out because I’m holding onto things that I will never be able to use again or need again. Bit by bit I’m trying to re-organise my house and my life to be laboursaving, ergonomic, sustainable rather than putting up with make do and mend all the time.I’m getting there, bit by bit. If I can’t manage a big job, I just tried to do 1 m² at a time4 -
It sounds as if you have a plan.. It's good to start somewhere. I know how hard it can be. Beating yourself up because even finishing one job feels so overwhelming.
You are not alone.

Did anyone watch Sort your life out, on bbc1 last night? I've seen a lot of good reviews, so am watching later .
Hope You all had a good Easter xx"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

hi Candy. I can see why the book made you cry, it's very illuminating isn't it. As you say it really helps us to make sense of everything. It's not always an easy read, in fact I found it quite painful at times.Tbh I do find the whole "working on the mindset thing" quite difficult at times. I am your classic case of "hide how you really feel and just keep smiling". It might have served me well at the time, helping me get through difficult times, but I know for sure that many of my current health issues are a direct result of all that stoic heroism. There's always a price isn't there, and often it's our bodies and our health that takes the hit.I watched the Sort Your Life Programme. Admittedly there were teams of people helping them but their lives were utterly transformed after they had cleared everything out. They did it in a week, it will probably take me six months, but I'll get there.5

I de cluttered like Taff, I had always wanted to be tidy, and would get irked by things being out of place, When I read then did the Marie Kondo method, it transformed everything, I started with the knicker drawer and moved quickly through categories, leaving photographs till last, as I had loads!!! And they are difficult to throw away. Having a place for everything and putting it there is such an easy thing and why I didn't do it sooner I will never know! Even just taking my coat and bag up stairs when I come in and putting them away, not leaving the washing up till later etc. I still love clothes and do have more than I probably should have, but they are all neatly away and tidy. I would love to be minimal, and am in my own way, I can clean a room quickly and easily and that has its own rewards, as I don't have to spend hours doing it which frees up me time!!
I'm still working and will be for at least 10 years😕 since my husband died I realise the value of making the most of life and opportunities, decluttering my house gave a massive feeling of relief and lightness, it means I come home from work and don't have to start cleaning , I can do what ever I want, if that is a walk with my sister or a book and chocolate then that's what I do.
My niece has just bought her 1st home, and the 1 piece of advise I've given her is don't buy loads of stuff!!!!! Keep it simple then you can enjoy life.
I'm not sure I'm making sense, but someone said that if you can buy something for less than £10 don't keep as a just incase!! As if you really did need it the future , you can buy one! And if you have a lot of clutter, you might not be able to remember having the item, or where it is!! So in my house the pencil case would go,sorry I know others find it hard, and I also used to have that mind set of it may be useful for something else, but I try to have less and double duty things !. So my pyrex dish is also used as a mixing bowl for example. For me having an empty attic gives such a feeling of lightness!
I use mindfulness which I learned via a free course on line, and is very helpful for stress and have done yoga, which I should do more often. Also I read a book called the secret, about sending out positive affirmations, and the universe responding.
Sorry 😯if I've rambled on!! I wish you all the best , and hope health and happiness comes your way .xxFocus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.12 -
