Just seen this, I’ve moved into a new rented property, have closed down my SP account and found out about British Gas evolve. As a new tenant here do I try to contact British Gas evolve or wait for something in writing?0

Shedman said:Right. Been on chat this morning. Got the usual line about how we'd been put on a competitive tariff (even though I pointed out that if I had signed up as a new customer I would have been on a lower tariff), couldn't confirm that we would stay on Simplicity rates until April 1st (which I really didn't think would be the case anyway), couldn't give me an account number yet but they are working to set up accounts as priority and that first DD will be taken between now and mid March (although it won't be now obviously as they haven't asked for DD details unless they are getting those from Simplicity).
So in other words told me b*gger all that I didn't already know. Think I might risk a switch now as well0 -

Have you shopped around? Neon Reef and Symbol energy seem to be the cheapest for electricity and Zog look good for Gas.0 -
I thinking NR for Elec (can get a £25 referral bonus credit code from stepdaughter and gives her £25 as well...) and So Energy for Gas as there are referrals giving £40+ in the Referrers section which would make them cheaper than Zog for me and fixed rate only £5 exit fee. Either that or just put dual fuel to Avro (who I think are the least likely of the lesser suppliers to go bust....famous last words 😅).0

I've also been on chat, to be told that the new tariff will apply from the point of transfer, specifically when Simplicity ceased trading, and that the tariff would be 'comparable' to the Simplicity one and guaranteed till April 2022. Obviously 'comparable' is a bit of a subjective term but as a mere consumer, I shall be referring back to that exchange if the tariff is actually rubbish, because that is not by any reasonable interpretation 'comparable'...
TBH though, energy costs have risen since I signed with Simplicity - in October their 2020Cabbage tariff was the cheapest on the market for higher use, and I can't see anything out there that wouldn't be at least £250 more per year for me. So if BGE doesn't push me over that level, it will still makes sense to stay put. Higher standing charge and lower KWH rate is what I need...

It would work out over £750/year more expensive based on my current usage so I won't be hanging around - Utility Point looks the next best option.0 -
