  • I've found this info for British gas variable rates:
Electric: Standard unit rate: 17.443p per kWh - Standing charge: 23.241p per day*
Gas Standard unit rate: 2.956p per kWh - Standing charge: 26.074p per day*
This seems really unfair to simplicity refugees,

Has anyone been able to log in at all?
They asked that we log in and submit final readings but I can't log in, so emailed them over but I want to check what readings they had for estimate etc as they now say I owe them £140 which is no where near where it was last month before my dd went out.
Think it's about time the comping fairy remembered where I am! lol

There seems to have been a problem with the software they, along with a number of other suppliers such as Neon Reef and Utility Point, use .  It's been intermittent for last couple of days.

I can't log in because it says my account doesn't exist - I've got readings from the 1st Feb but nowhere to submit them to.

If BG are going to stick me on an expensive tariff then they'd better notify me about it ASAP so I can switch away - whole reason I went with Simplicity was that they were the cheapest on the market!

Just had an email with the Simplicity Promise tariff from BG Evolve.   It's not great to say the least.

    Headlines are:

    Gas   3.125p/kWh, 26.074p day SC.
    Elec. 16.909p / kWh,  23.071 day SC
    prices guararanteed til April 2022
2 weeks free Electricity after being with them 6 months.
Edit:  this seems to be the same tariff as British Gas Standard Variable.

This is an awful tariff.  Their Online Direct v4 tariff that I get offered if I do an online quote is far better so I cannot understand why they didn't offer that.   There is no way I'm staying at these rates....as soon as the national databases are updated I'm off (wish now I switched as soon I found out Simplicity were ceasing trading)

  • That's interesting Shedman ...  my BG Evolve email has slightly different charges:
Gas   3.017p/kWh (up 30.5% on Simplicity),    26.074p day SC  (up 45%)
Elec. 16.955p / kWh  (up 40.8%),   23.523 day SC  (up 43.6%)                      all with VAT at 5% to be added.
Thanks to the regulator for choosing to move me to a ludicrously expensive provider !
I'll be switching as soon as possible.
  • Count yourselves lucky, here in North Wales I got:

    Gas: 26.074 and 3.01
    Electric: 22.499 and 18.536

Two weeks free electric isn’t enough to tempt me on this

Are you sure you've got to the add the VAT?  The email I had had the rates as included VAT.  I'm Southern region by the way so I would expect s9me regional variances.

My BGE tariff works out about £225 a year (just under 20%) more than Simplicity ( and £340 a year (25% more) more than the YE tariff I was on before getting SOLR'd on that as well)!
Wish we'd been SOLR'd to EDF like those lucky blighters from GNE
