Surely if you're an SOLR it makes sense to retain your new customers for a period to cover some of the costs and admin that must be incurred by the SOLR process. (obviously if the failed supplier rates were ludicrously low then it might not be economic to do so but Simplicity's weren't that low)0

While this is still the case though, customers need to take advantage of the cheap prices and let the external investors cover the losses for as long as possible.
The main hope though is that the customers don't do a comparison and leave early because they know they'll be on a cheaper tariff anyway. Then once their end date for the previous GNE fixed contract is met, they can just move them onto the SVT and hope they don't notice/leave.

Shedman said:Just seen this on MSE news section....doesn't sound great news from what I've just looked out in Switch with Which for BG Standard Variable. You'd have thought they could have at least put us on their current lowest tariff (ie one in my previous post). Those lucky blighters with GNE have been promised by EON that their SOLR tariff will be lower than what they were on with GNE until end Sep...shame we couldn't have been given to EON as well.

Shedman said:No exit charge on that tariff as it happens so therefore no reason not to be put on it.Good pointThat was good, but unexpected.I'm a little surprised that they selected BGE as a SoLR given they are an online only supplier.Easy enough to change the tariff, and like you there was only one other tariff available when I looked.

Hi, I have only just joined simplicity 2 days ago and have now been informed that they are switching me to british gas evolve. I've contacted bg evolve but they can't give me a tariff price. Does anyone know if the tariff will be as cheap or more expensive than simplicity? I was on 2.494p per kWh gas 14.897p per kWh electric0

So maybe it depends on what type of tariff you were previously on? I was on a fixed with Simplicity.0 -

"We’re still chasing for exact details and the rate card, but British Gas Evolve has told us that you’ll be placed on a tariff called ‘Simplicity Promise’, which will cost on average £1,041/yr on typical dual-fuel use – the same price as British Gas’s standard tariff and just £1 under the current energy price cap."
