Well that’s not a bad slor compared to us being out in Scottish power
Just escaped SP having been SOLR'd from YE to end up in similar straits less than a week after switching to Simplicity.   Having seen some reviews of BG Evolve on Trustpilot I'm not convinced that they'll be any better than SP.

Interesting.  Just looked at FindMySupplier and my gas supplier is now noted as Simplicity Energy Ltd - Closed.  The Closed bit wasn't there yesterday. Hopefully things are moving forward.  Just need to know what tariff BGE are putting us on.

Hi. My energy supply was taken over by Scottish Power when Tonik Energy failed. They put my costs up by around 30% and made a real mess of the switch. I switched away from SP to British Gas Evolved. They were not the cheapest but were about 4th in the list. After having been with Tonik for several years and my experience with the switch, I wanted a known brand that was not going to fail. I have to say that I have been extremely impressed with BG Evolve in relation to the switch, their speed of doing things (they request meter readings each month and the new bill is available within minutes of submitting the readings) and their staff have been extremely helpful. In my experience BG Evolve and SP are poles apart in terms of costs and especially customer service.

That's good to hear.  I think we all have to reset our expectations as to whether a low tariff is worth the aggravation of having to go through the SOLR process.   I'm also adjusting my view of sustainable baseline unit rates going forward to be more realistically 16p /kWh Electric, 3p plus /kWh Gas rather than the 12/13p and 2.6p last year.  If the BG Evolve tariff they put us on is close to those then I'll probably stay put unless some super irresistible deals come up later in the year.  Managed to keep my annual cost to within +-3% over the last 4 years but expecting it to be closer to +20% this year unfortunately.

BG Evolve were very competitive when I was first SoLR'd to SP but alas due to wait for my supply to show SP on the industries Db the quote I got was considerably more but I did speak to BG Evolve and they seemed on the ball, maybe if/when prices drop in the summer they will be back to being competitive and I will join, I am going with Avro reasonable quote, but the main reason was no exit fee
    Good luck everyone

My tariff for BG Evolve is Online Fixed v1 with 12mth fix and no exit fees
Elec is 17.34p/day standing charge and 16.58p/kwh
Gas is 14.65p/day standing charge and 2.66p/kwh

At the moment on Switch with Which comparison site this cannot be beaten.

If I do a new quote on BGE site all I get for my postcode is Direct Online Only v4 fixed.
Gas 3.15 / kWh and 14.461p/ day SC
    Elec 16.127 / kWh and 17.792p / dat SC

Would prefer Gas to be closer to or below 3p.  However, fingers crossed that the rate they give us ex Simplicity users is as good or better than these.

Just seen this on MSE news section....doesn't sound great news from what I've just looked out in Switch with Which for BG Standard Variable.  You'd have thought they could have at least put us on their current lowest tariff (ie one in my previous post).  Those lucky blighters with GNE have been promised by EDF that their SOLR tariff will be lower than what they were on with GNE until end Sep...shame we couldn't have been given to EDF as well.

What tariff will British Gas Evolve put me on and is it any good?

We’re still chasing for exact details and the rate card, but British Gas Evolve has told us that you’ll be placed on a tariff called ‘Simplicity Promise’, which will cost on average £1,041/yr on typical dual-fuel use – the same price as British Gas’s standard tariff and just £1 under the current energy price cap.

And ironies of ironies ...Scottish Power,  who I've just escaped from, would be £150 a year cheaper.

  • I’m in the same boat. How about EDF “GoElectric” tariff? Designed for EV car charging but no rule that you have to have an EV.

Flat rate of 14.85 per kWh for me in North Wales for electric and 3.176 for gas.
  • I am due to switch from Outfoxthemarket to Simplicity on Feb 9th. Amazingly that switch is still going ahead despite Simplicity going titsup. I'd rather not switch to BG Evolve, instead I'll do my own comparisons and manage my own switch. I called customer services at Simplicity yesterday afternoon, expressing sympathy with the agent that I spoke to over his employment predicament, and he was kind enough to mark my switch as an erroneous transfer. This means it'll be cancelled and I'll bounce back to Outfoxthemarket ready to do the whole search & switch process all over again.
