Green Network Energy is ceasing to trade

Previous experience makes me think a fight is inevitable, more than happy to be proved wrong thoughMISSLHA said:
I don’t understand why you assume your going to have a fight. At the end of the day you cancelled your direct debit yes the supplier went to administration but it’s an easy process to resolve when you set it back up? You are correct that there’s nothing you can do until your supply is showing on edf systems in a few weeksJack_Harper said:
Having done the same just the other day, and having read your posts, i've just checked my online account to find the same wrt the standing charges and also the unit rates have been changed to one which is 100 times the rate they should be.bristolleedsfan said:Gary1963 said:Having cancelled my DD with GNE I note that the daily Standing Charge has increased. I assume I will be billed at the original rates given they have ceased to trade.
Same here, cancelled my DD as switch out is due to complete on 15th with DD due on 20th, am in significant credit didnt see why I should have another payment possibly taken out.
Obviously no option to reinstate the DD now, so looks like going to have a fight on my hands when they eventually generate a bill, am assuming noting I can do at the moment.
Looks like cancelling the DD has had the effect of changing the standing charge, which will have to be disputed. Just have to wait and see I suppose0 -

I am keeping my DD (due on the 9th) to GNE in place as it should transfer over to EDF based on what I have read.
If the EDF tariff is cheaper than GNE then I wont be moving anyway so why make it more complicated/difficult than it needs to be at this moment.1 -
I think in most Green network WHD cases people have not received any confirmation from Green that their application has been successful. I'm not sure how many people who applied for whd have been awarded the payment, but in many cases the only notification customers had to their whd applications was "In progress" in the whd home page which suggests a decision has not been made. Does that mean Edf will honour these payments that are in still awaiting a decision ? which could be the majority of green's whd cases.leitmotif said:From EDF's FAQs for GNE customers being migrated:
"Will I still receive my Warm Home Discount (WHD) payment?
The great news is if you've successfully applied for the scheme with Green Network Energy, we'll be taking these on so you won't miss out on your payment. [...] If you've applied for the Warm Home Discount - Support Plus scheme and received confirmation that your application has been successful we will honour these payments."
At the same time, EDF points out that its own WHD for 2020-2021 has closed. I suspect many people will be in the same boat as me: application pending. The WHD tab in GNE online accounts has disappeared over the past 48 hours. The WHD is a lifeline for many people in a variety of circumstances. Can Ofgem do something about this?0 -
In my case I started switch away from GNE via a friend referral link the day before GNE announced that it was no longer trading, everybody does what is best for themselves .......KTF said:so why make it more complicated/difficult than it needs to be at this moment.

If you cancel a direct debit you would alway be billed at non direct debit rates with any supplier. If you explain why you cancelled it I’m sure someone may be willing to apply an adjustment however based on your gne t&c which remain the same it will state that if you cancel a DD your prices will change. There isn’t any point getting into a fight or having an attitude with people on the phone. It’s not their fault or yours. It’s a situation all parties were placed in.bristolleedsfan said:MISSLHA said:

Oh I'm not having an attitude with anyone, like I said it's just previous experience makes me think it may be challenging.MISSLHA said:

I cancelled my dd after they ceased trading, so was still paying by dd when they were in operation, and within my T&C s, will just wait and see what I am finally billed and at what rate.1 -
EDF's wording seems quite clear: they will only honour approved WHD applications and will not be allowing unapproved WHD applications to be migrated into their own WHD programme for the 2020-2021 year. I have written to GNE asking them to approve my request.rags58 said:

Not true; I've been thru 4 supplier failures and every time I've cancelled the DD EVEN IF I was expecting to be in a small debt situation - and I've never been charged a higher rate for s/c or tariff rate on a final bill.MISSLHA said:

They won't penalise you for cancelling in these circumstances - they will probably insist that your reinstate D/D with them thoughbrewerdave said:
