Oh, Mothernerd, I do love all your quotes and sayings. They make me think and they make me laugh.
Food order arrived today and all put away. Boy coming to collect his later, I think, but it is bitterly cold and he is incredibly tired. Been working really hard and long hours last week. I've kept the food delivery under budget for this week so that's a positive.
Other than that it's been my usual lazy Sunday. Lovely sea bass fillets for dinner. Very healthy and all the better for being on special offer.
Back to normal tomorrow with a long list of "to do" jobs.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.9 -
Didn't wake up until 8.15 this morning - lovely! Makes up a bit for having to get up at 6.15 yesterday morning for work
NSD today, not yesterday - popped into s'mkt on way back from work for naan bread and pakora to go with the fakeaway curry I made for us all last night (with leftovers for lunch - yum!) - we do have some naan in the freezer, but it's not as nice - and I figured the spend was justified as the curry was instead of an expensive takeaway. Other naan used with leftovers, so won't be wasted. Also scored some ys items whilst I was there, so added bonus.
More flebay sales yesterday & today - including an item I had put in CS pile but dragged out as it was chunky and who knows how long it will be before they reopen? But did donate a carrier bag of food towards hampers being made by schoolAlso got rid of 2 mature fruit trees via fb00k - well, the wood from them, anyway!
- will be stored by a family and used for their woodburner when seasoned, so all is good
And yesterday I recycled or shredded loads of paper from the office - our paper recycling sack is now crammed full.
Thankful for sales of items/ money in, quick chat in the street with neighbours (nice to see people!), some work yesterday morning (again - nice to see people!) yummy brunch today, getting rid of the trees and them being useful to someone (chunky piles of wood from front garden now gone!), wheatbags (cannot get warm today and my hands are hurting as they are cold)I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £208 -
Still on 3/15 as I found the ideal pressie for OH’s dad whose birthday is next month - a virtual whisky-tasting class. His gift last year was a cinema voucher which we never got to give him because of lockdown and cinemas closing.
Had an fun walk in the woods with DS and OH today. It is very cold here right now so we all had our thermals on. Little snowflakes were floating down through the tree branches - watching them was so calming.
Used up leftover carrots by making carrot and coriander soup. It was much too salty but talked to my consultant Dr Googly and all was well. I watered it down and added cornflour to thicken it back up.
Grateful for a refreshing woodland walk with OH and DS, a video call with my in-laws, and Dr Googly.

Today I am grateful for the snow - I adore the stuff and we rarely get much- and the local kids working together to make a snowman, for going out at dusk with dd for some magical photo-taking, for the rugby ont box, for working from home to teach cos it'd be blimmin' freezing teaching with the windows open now!, for my next jigsaw, for a good book.

Evening
NSD#3 for me. Did some housework this morning while listening to Michael Ball on R2 - lovely second hour of the show featuring his interview with Capt Sir Tom Moore from last yearHad a video chat with my 3 sisters. Then went for a walk with DD1's bestie who lives on her own nearby.
Gratitudes - being able to have a lie in this morning; technology; that there is no snow here!

NSD#4 in a row, like C0nnect 4. Cold here, but no snow yet. Candles lit, relaxing with a hot chocolate on the sofa.Only 5 schooldays left til half term! Something to celebrate.Grateful to still be within budget, all of us are healthy, there is food in the house and heat in the pipes.Every day has laughter in it. Even if it is only at the absurdity of it all. This afternoon as the wind rose, the seagulls were being blown all over the place. Amused me greatly to see them.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Very cold here today, but no snow. Still on NSD 4/15, as we had logs delivered yesterday and today I ordered a few small things online - not very exciting, new socks, as most of mine are going into holes, and a new seal to replace the grotty one on the shower door, and a book (more exciting), though all but £2.39 of that was paid for using a voucher from a survey site. Back on the NSD trail tomorrow though!Grateful for the logs today as it is so cold!6

Very cold here today as well.I've hardly been out at all, beyond a brief walk to the bottom of the garden to hand some extra garlic to the neighbour over the fence. Today was NSD 2/15 as yesterday Mr Porridge did the week's shopping.
I used two massive parsnips this evening to make what I can best describe as parsnip latkes (same recipe as potato ones just parsnips) which were really tasty, good thing as I have about twenty more the same size that we got given by the neighbour at Christmas. They seem quite happy sitting in the cold garage so far.
Today I'm grateful for good neighbours, new recipe ideas that work and being able to stay inside where its warm.Mortgage Free 23 December 2020
