  • Halifax have not pulled an additional audit to check my Husband’s employment, P60 and contract etc. Has anyone had this before. This is the most nerve wracking process
I think it depends on the nature of employment. Both me and my wife work in well-known companies so income/credit check was completed within 2 days.

This is a good point, I work in a really well known company too so no questions at all for me. Whereas he is working for a local car performance garage
  • They seem to have accepted those original docs, and now asked for his April statement.

hopefully this is moving in the right direction 😩🤞🏽
  • The documments have now been sent to the ‘Credit decisioning team’

    fingers crossed!!

Just a warning, every change or event, halifax soft credit check you
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

We were lucky to have our Halifax mortgage approved very quickly
Applied on 10/09/2021 and we had confirmation on Monday 13/09/2021 so essentially only two working day.
Both of us were in stable salaried job.
  • Hi All,

First time buyers! We applied with a mortgage broker yesterday, 5% deposit & 20% help to buy equity loan. We’ve had notification that the valuation is taking place tomorrow - which seemed pretty quick! Has anyone else had such a quick turnaround? Does this normally mean that we would just be waiting on the valuation now?

I am at a very similar place as you.
Full app submitted on the 13th, valuation booked in for 16th.

    How did yours go?
  • Hi all,

Call me daft but I’m having trouble working out Halifax’s policy on lending to non-UK nationals. I’m a British citizen and my wife is here on a spouse visa, living in the UK since 2018. This is what Halifax’s lending criteria says:

Permanent right to reside is required for all applicants on all applications which do not meet the following criteria:

    • The customer (or either customer on a joint application) has lived in the UK for more than 5 years OR
    • Loan to Value (LTV) is <=75% OR
    • Application income >=£100,000

When proof of permanent right to reside is required a next step message will advise 'Proof of permanent right to reside in the UK is required for (applicant name)' and this must be provided for all customers on the application.

If any of the criteria above are met the message will not show and the application can proceed without proof of permanent right to reside being required.

Does this mean that we both need to have lived in the UK for the last 5 years, or that only one of us needs to have lived here for 5+ years?

    Thank you!
