  • I’ve been up every night looking at stuff made me feel really anxious all week thinking it will be declined when the application goes through. If people are like me searching every night, just trust in the system. My credit score Experian is 620 and in the poor band, CCJ £350 5 and half years ago, default virgin bill wasn’t aware off due to come off in 6 months as well. Never give up hope of getting a mortgage for your dream home. I got a decision in 30 minutes using a mortgage broker , it’s all subject to valuation but all necessary checks are done now. Can relax now 😁😁😁. Good luck all. Any questions please ask
    Thank you for sharing!
You’ve put my mind at ease and hopefully we’ll also have good news.
They’ve done the full credit check and taken the valuation fee from our account so I’m guessing it’s accepted and just waiting for the valuation to be done.
But, saying that, I don’t want to get my hopes up just yet until we get full confirmation as I know things can happen🙈.

Congrats, it was meant to be. :) I can't say the same for NatWest, not a good choice when one of the applicants is self-employed.

  • I’m with you newhome2021!
We submitted our full application to Halifax the day before you (19th Jan), hard credit check done  and money for valuation taken the same day.. we’ve heard nothing since 😬😬
I have an old settled default from 2015 on my file so I am constantly reading things online and convincing myself it will be rejected - I am not very patient so the wait is driving me insane!! 🙈
Hope something comes through for you soon 😊🤞🏻

We’ve just got our official offer through today so hopefully you’ll hear something soon!! Recent missed payments on my husband’s credit file (and average credit score) made me really anxious but Halifax seem to be quite lenient 😄. So happy!
Good luck and I’m really hoping you get an offer too!! 🤞🏼🤞🏼

    Congratulations.

Halifax do seem to be one of the more sensible/lenient lenders at the moment.

    Hi,
We have an agreement in principle in place with Halifax and now have an offer accepted. How straightforward did you find making the full application? The Halifax website states that it takes about 2 hours to go through the full application which seems excessive - how long was it for you? Our decision in principle stated that if we wanted to proceed we would only need both of our most recent payslips. Did you have to go back over everything, income and expenditure, etc, or did you just have to supply the additional info? Also, did you submit your full application in branch or over the phone? With current circumstances I would prefer to do it over the phone, but if I thought it would speed things up I would go to branch.

Many thanks in advance for any insight - house buying and mortgages in particular are very stressful!

I did the application online. It took perhaps 45 minutes to fill in the form and submit the latest pay slips for both applicants.

The valuation was booked in for the next day almost instantly after the application was submitted.

Had I not entered a digit wrong on the other half's wages I suspect that would have been it but my error meant I then had to go through the application over the phone with an advisor which was probably another 45 minutes. The mortgage offer was issued at the end of the telephone call with the advisor.

It was all very straight forward. From application to offer in three days with a physical valuation on day 2.

Thanks. Maybe I'm being stupid but I can't see a link to do the full application online - only the telephone number to call, or the option of making an appointment to visit my branch. Could you possibly point me in the right direction? I'd imagine it would be handier to apply online if possible.
    Thanks again!
