One thing I've not found so far is how to make home made bath salts? Ikea jars, and lemon or lavendar oil, but what else? Epsom salts maybe? And how do you add the oil to the salts?

Hi Cordy, did a quick google & found this site which seems to have good, clear instructions on bath salts.

    Hope that helps

Thanks Sylphraven, that looks good. Mind you, since then have found the door hangers thread - so many things to try and so little time!

I like the idea of doing a "do not disturb" hanger for my friend who's getting married in Mexico next week. She won't have room for wedding presents in her luggage, but a door hanger would be perfect, and who knows, maybe useful?!

just an idea but I notice now
they sell bags of mini chupa
    chup lollies exactly the same
as the regular ones only about
half the size.If you covered one
red tissue and squeezed the stick
down the centre it might make a
good cherry on top of the sock cakes.

    Hi All!
Which one of you brought all the chocolate brown flannels in my local Wilkos? Own up!! :rotfl: When I went in on Saturday there were loads of chocolate brown ones and when I went to get some more today there was only one sorry one left!! Gutted as I need another 35 at least!! Hoping they will get some more in soon but they have loads in at the moment in pastel shades which is no good. :(

Not guilty...................lol All the jars/tubs/tins were out of my cupboard or from boot fair and I bought my brown flannels ages ago...........got one (maybe two?) left and next thing is my reindeers head.
Have soaked my pipe cleaners in coffee and they've gone dark brown - think they'll dry a bit lighter though ,if they do I'll do them again - do I have to rinse them out or leave them once they're dry ?
Getting worried about sticking eyes on now - only got pva, pritt stick and glue dots  Not sure if our woolies has any glue guns in -only a small branch but I'll have a look tomorrow.

Managed to work out my Christmas Star story into some sort of book form by sticking the pages on a different lot of paper - I'll get the photocopy shop to do the rest.
Got 'survival kit' done for my son...............next project is filling little baby shoes up with some sort of herbs -general idea being that either grandson or maybe my son -can put them in their trainers overnight for 'sweet smelling feet'.....................tried it with baby socks and they stretched so much they looked like sausages....................lol

Do they work on really niffy trainers, Mary? or just mild smelling ones that havent evolved enough to walk by themselves?

No idea really - I know I bought some herb filled little bags looped together with ribbon for OH to put in his years ago but whether they made a real difference I can't remember.............lol
I did get lavender from the Health food shop but think that might be a bit too strong. Chap in the shop suggested something (can't remember what now) that people buy and sprinkle on the carpet where cats are likely to do a quick 'wee' now its cold and he said it absorbed the smell so might try that - unless I just get a few mixed herbs.
They;re dinkly little shoes with teddy bear faces on.................lol and I also got a pair of grey suede shoes - real baby ones, ever so tiny.
It's a sort of novelty pressie as much as anything else.

rosemary & Lavender are good for
smelly feet, as they absorb smells

Also if you have trainers, shoes etc
that are really minging and you have tried
everything to get the smell out seal them
in a plastic bag, carrier bags are OK
put them in your freezer for 24 hours
take them out and the smells have gone
freezing kills the bacteria inside the shoes,
also they are bone dry when you get them
out,so dont worry about your shoes getting
soggy they are sealed in the bag so no moisture
    can get in.
if your trying to get rid of athletes foot, foot
infections just keep alternating two pairs of shoes
    until its cleared.

rosekitten - thanks. I'll get some rosemary tomorrow and mix it with the lavender - maybe the lavender won;t be quite so 'heady' then.

Don;t think my sons feet are that bad but thats a handy tip about the plastic bag,.
