Long time lurker here who has only just taken the plunge and signed up - so technically a lurking newbie.
Hello everybody - please may I play. Ive been lurking for so long I feel like I know everyone already.
Just turned 6 aldi soymilk boxes ( the ones that hold the cartons) into posting boxes for my fleabay sales. Make do?
and about to have fridge gravel soup for lunch - so make do and minimise
this is fun

Nice to see a new face, pen2milli 👋
Making Do, Mending & Minimising can definitely be fun 🙂
I am currently knitting scarves, beanies & wrist warmers for donation to CS or to a neighbour who volunteers at a homeless charity. I am also using the left over bits of yarn to make friendship bracelets. Keeps my hands busy & uses up some of my enormous stock of yarn 😅
I am looking forward to reading about more of your ‘make do’ projects 🙂Be Kind. Stay Safe. Break the Chain. Save Lives. ⭐️2025 Savings Pot Challenge: As a monthly amount, running total = £379.00

Thanks Mrs_Salad_Dodger
I live a very OS life really. Mostly because we didnt have much growing up and I never really lost that thrill of getting or making something from nothing.
I have just made some more packing boxes out of canned food trays and in a moment I am going to break out my stash of wide packing tape cardboard reel inners and make them into sturdy pots for protecting small delicate items for posting.
Dinner is going to be a mystery meal out of the freezer ( cant read the label but the colour sort of suggests it might be a veggie curry???)
My mending tonight is a quick repair job on my black trousers where the seam has come undone and the hem needs a bit of a stitch too.
If I have time I have to de-construct a pair of trousers given by mother in law for resizing

Make do: Used a plastic envelope from a previous purchase and the brown paper used to wrap up a picture we bought, for Fleabay sales.
Mend: Few minor repairs to things
Minimise: Got 2 bags of spinach, opened packs of herbs and some filo pastry (amongst other things) from a do we went to last weekend so made spanakopita with that and some kale we got in the veg box. Also sold some of MIL's stuff (hence the packaging) and earmarked some of my mum's unfinished cross-stitch stash to complete for Christmas cards and suchlike.2024 Fashion on the Ration - 10/66 coupons used

Well done everyone!
Last night I mended DH's trousers and my gloves, and made a pouch for his pocket magnifier. I also crocheted some holly leaves and berries for my friend who is making Christmas pudding hats and mittens.2025 Fashion on the ration

Minimise - Yesterday I dropped a bag of wool off at our local community sharing shed. I also dropped off two Xmas jumpers that my son has outgrown to the school PTA who will in turn use them in their jumper swap.
Make do - used up some fabric scraps to make a bandana for my sisters dog (part of my handmade Xmas gifts I'm making).
Mend - no mending required for a few days.

Mended my old pressure cooker today . The handle has parted company and it is a bolt through with the end seized inside.
I had a packet of metal to metal epoxy glue which has hopefully done the job.
Yesterday, replaced the teflon strip on the old vac sealer which had such an old bit on it that it burns holes in the bags.
The new bit was cut down from thick teflon sheet and stuck in with kapstan tape.
Now working again.
Make do ... hubs phone was crushed when it fell out of his pocket so he is using my old one till he can sort a new one later in the new year.
Cant think of a minimise ..Its me Culpepper LOL couldn't sign in with the old ID so time for a fresh start....6 -
This year I've made good inroads into my yarn stash that's now considerably minimised. I feel as if I've been knitting for every man and his dog but at least it's all been put to good use and now I won't feel so guilty when I buy more.
However, there is one particular yarn that I just can't get on with. It's an acrylic yarn but feels rather hard and scratchy - hence the reason why I don't normally go for that. I've lost count of the number of times I've tried to use it up so now I've admitted defeat and have it in a bag ready for the CS. I hope someone else finds it more appealing than I do.Be kind to others and to yourself too.5 -
Minimise - used up some more of my yarn stash to make face scrubbies with some of the cotton yarn I had lingering in the box. These will go out with my other home made Xmas gifts.
Make do - have used an old plant pot, old hairband and gold card to make part of daughters Xmas concert costume.
Mend - husband has managed to mend some damaged skirting in our hallway. Although crafty we are not very DIY savvy but are both slowly getting more and more confident in having a go.7
