Sorry for the delay. Here is a picture of the broken part of my zip I'm hoping to fix. Any suggestions welcome!
MY question. I have a few hundred ! desicannt packs from the covid tests, I wanted to use them to limit the mould in my windows during the winter.. thought maybe just put them in a pretty little pottery vase I have,,? do you think this would work ?today's mood is brought to you by coffee, lack of sleep and idiots.

Never heard of that before! Would be interested to hear if it works. I do sewing repairs/alterations for folk & this would save me replacing the whole zip!!Use it up, wear it out

I spend yesterday afternoon mending about 20 rips in my light waterproof coat. It's looking slightly less tatty now. My dog has a lot to answer for! All his jumping is very hard on my clothes
Next on the mending pile (hopefully some evenings this week or next weekend) are some bras I'm hoping to be able to keep the underwiring in, and a few pairs of leggings.
I find the leggings a bit soul destroying tbh. They are always needing mended as they get full of holes from my dog again, and take ages to mend with tiny rips everywhere, and then the inner thigh seam wears away and there is no fixing them.Live the good life where you have been planted.

@Elisheba - Well done on all those repairs, but at least the rips are from *your* dog! I find it really infuriating when a dog jumps up at me with zero encouragement, snags and pulls at my hand-knitted jumpers and cardigans and the owner laughs gaily and says "oh, he's just being friendly!" - one of these days I'm going to ask for a replacement one-off, custom-designed, hand-knitted woollen and see how friendly they feel about the bill for that...
The awful thing is that I do like dogs - at one point I worked weekends on a small country estate and loved being surrounded by all the working dogs, and enjoyed their different personalities... but my love of dogs has been really strained by the behaviour of the owners in towns over many years...!
Oops, touched a nerve there, sorry! But I've learnt now to step right off paths,. put my hands out, shout "No!" and "Sit!" and "Down!" and so on, because if I simply stand there, or carry on walking, then 3 times out of 4 I'll end up needing to do laundry at the best, mending at the worst...
So I do sympathise with the mending, as I know what it's like - but I'm very relieved your dog goes for *your* clothes and not mine2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

I totally see where you are coming from @Laura_Elsewhere. I got my dog when he was 15 months, and despite taking him to a trainer and doing a lot of work with him myself his jumping seems to be an ingrained behaviour now. Due to this he doesn't get off lead, because I won't have him jumping on people. He is big, and can scratch folk, rip their clothes and really frighten some people. If any jumping does happen before I can pull him back I apologise profusely (not laugh and make excuses) but its a very rare occurrence. For some reason ts always worse when we encounter people on country paths. He will walk through town finer and not try to jump on anybody!Live the good life where you have been planted.

@Elisheba, good for you! And thankyou - I always thank dog-owners when they do take responsibility!
Nicer for the dog, too, I should think!
