Hello, what a lovely idea for a discussion.  Nice to hear of what everyone else is doing and to realise that I've still got a long way to go!!  My intention, this year, is to finish a cross stitch bamboo fan picture.  I've made some progress, but have been hampered by the need to do all sorts of other things.  I finish a university course in May (in theory) so should have more time to devote to it after then.  I stitched a cat kit last year, but that was a very basic one!

I always used to throw away any threads left at the end of a kit but I have decided to keep them this year - they may come in useful for small pictures for cards. I received a home-made pamper kit for Christmas from two of my departmental apprentices that was packed into a Mason jar, and now that I have liberated the blackberry gin, chocolate and foot soak I have started to fill the jar with threads. I am classing that as money-saving!
I finished the first piece of 2021 last night so I shall attempt to upload a photo later - I will shout if I need help!

It's a kit on pre-printed backing material, which is a blessing and a curse.  It's easier than counting, however makes life difficult when attempting to assess the quality of the stitches.  I think I prefer working on blank material, all said and done.

I am sorry for the poor quality of this image and the size of it! I need to practice uploading photographs! This is Christmas Promises: The Cross, by Bucilla. The copyright date is 2003 and I think I may have had it in my stash for that long... It is 4x6 inches and was straightforward to stitch (I changed the French knots to dashes and there were no part stitches or awkward backstitch), but the pattern wasn't the easiest to follow - a black and white pattern for seven different colours of backstitch! I don't frame large pieces myself but this is small enough to do at home.

Back to work with a bang this week I feel!  Nmm thanks for your advice re the floss. I don’t think it would be too expensive to purchase a basic set of colours and organise the cards I have from my various completed projects. I seem to have too many threads to throw away I must be way too frugal with my thread BetaSam. The Christmas promise looks stunning. Are they poinsettias?.  :D
I love BB, nmm, What a brilliant CS find.
Welcome ditzy_mitzy the bamboo fan sounds gorgeous. Looking forward to being inspired by you all Luciecat63 and Betarooni.

    Lovely finish betasam 😊
Little CF update from me. Didn’t do any yesterday as work was a bit challenging! Then got swept up with the news from the US which took our minds off COVID stats, but not in a good way!

Stay safe, stay warm, stay sane!
