Apparently it was at Professor Gilbert's insistence and while I see the case for the UK government and the developing world getting it at cost I don't see why other developed counties shouldn't pay a fair market price if they get any (maybe they won't). I heard yesterday that France have achieved the milestone of 100 people vaccinated. It's impressive how Israel have now done 7% of their population by running 24x7 centres.

How is 100 people being vaccinated a milestone?0

I assume that was sarcasm; quite interesting reading on the alleged uptake in France though.

The general market has been depressed by the economic impact of the virus on the economy so whilst the vaccine is very positive for them the general financial situation is dragging in the opposite direction.

What's this about written consent?? It isn't major surgery people are getting for goodness sake, hiding behind safety and doing things the 'right way'.
They are just covering up for the fact they have a population sceptic of vaccines in general and their own processes are not helping."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

The queue moved at a reasonable walking pace. In the surgery, told to removed coats etc. by the greeter, name ticked off, no sitting down, injection administered and out the back door.
100 French vaccinations is obviously laughable but the 1,000,000 UK vaccinations isn't good enough either. Apart from getting back to normal opening up the economy sooner than the rest of Europe should give the UK a competitive advantage. I suspect it'll be vaccine availability that proves to be the limiting factor though.

Those at the highest risk of death are probably the least mobile so will need a different solution.
Smallpox took decades to eradicate even after vaccination started in the 1850's but everyone wasn't forced to stay at home while they waited and probably it was limited to the well off in the first instance.0
