Today I am grateful for the neighbours getting workmen organised to mend the roof (we are offset from them on the vertical and horizontal planes, so although it is an issue with the edge of their roof, water comes down the party wall/loft/my fitted wardrobe...and has even reached downstairs), for good food, for dd being willing to spend extra time on her maths hwk, for a good day's work, for some lovely work colleagues.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!5

Hi lovely people, am struggling w wfh lack of colleagues and just general self doubt, trying to complete a task that's over due and it seems like the file is becoming more and more empty - how is this possible?
Anyways at least he Mexican baked rice 'mess' that I made tasted fairly ok, and got the young men approval even though it didn't have a name.Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

A slightly strange day. I had an appointment for blood tests but felt so bad when I woke up that I cancelled. Wasn't sure whether to phone the special blood test number or the normal out patient appointment line (I had some instructions jotted down whilst waiting to be put through when I made the appointments). My head was so muzzy that I've filled a form in and tried both phone numbers - was transferred through from one to the other - no-one was cross with me (they kept saying they didn't do cancellations on the day), I have a new appointment for next week and I didn't go to the infirmary coughing my head off and spreading despair and alarm.
Mostly quiet day (slightest exertion made me reel straight back to my bed) some slow progress. Found a new serial which I'm enjoying. Only 3 years to retirement now. I wasn't at all sure about this birthday (I do have wobbles but it's usually the significant birthdays that do that). Two paper cards, 5 online greetings and a phone call from DS2 with greetings and asking if we needed any supplies. I did medicine/ first aid stuff last week but the ibuprofen didn't come and I'm getting low on wipes with keep wiping door handles, taps, light switches, door frames (mum and I both use them to aid getting round the house) and toilet seats.
DS2 and his gf turned up later with the supplies and flowers and bulbs in a sweet little Frieda Kahlo pot, chocolate for mum and me and a badge which says I'm celebrating my 3rd 21st birthday (which is a much nicer way of saying I'm 63 - weird, how did I get to be so old?). We also had a long chat in the yard, they brought their own camping chairs again (and gf had a little penguin hot water bottle). DS2 had a go at fixing mum's tv (no joy so they will bring us their spare one plus something to play dvds on and a pile of dvds - next time we need supplies, no unnecessary trips). I share a birthday with Tom Baker and the other good thing is that I had DS1 when I was 27 so in about 7 weeks I will (still) be 63 and he will be 36 which is very neat. Another NSD and 18 things cleared from the clutter mountain.
Today I am grateful for being able to rest, for a lovely visit and the day improving as it went on.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage7 -

Happy belated birthday Mothernerd!!
Thanks everyone - the building collapsing caused absolute carnage and it’s a miracle more people weren’t killed. I feel sorry for the elderly people who had to be evacuated from their homes, what a start to the year for them.
Yesterday must have been NSD 8 I think but I have sort of stopped counting!
Only €15 spent so far this week between me and bf on food. We haven’t bought anything else. I do “need” a new phone (mine is an old work phone that has lasted 6-7 years) bf is trying to persuade me to get a new one… I really want to avoid it for as long as possible, or consider a cheaper model but have to admit I am a bit of a snob for a certain brand.
Grateful that it's Friday and for not having to go outside in the wind and rain!

And a recovery hug for explosion earlier in the week. I was near epicentre of 94 quake in Los Angeles and well - that was a bit of a surprise! Still don't have heavy objects or pictures hanging over my bed!
It's a sunny day, my meltdown from yesterday is over and I am now tackling deferred task - almost.Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

Happy belated birthday, Mothernerd.
NSD No 19.
Woke up this morning feeling a bit down but I've sat myself down, dusted myself off and started all over again (as the song says). Could be so much worse.
The pork was gorgeous (even if I say so myself). Made a plan for next week with a few more "made up" ideas. Haven't done the blueberry loaf yet as the butter is still solid. Might have to be tomorrow now.
Lots of things needing done household wise but I'm holding off until it's a bit more settled and I feel safer. My mission at the moment is to get Himself to start taking care of himself. I'm afraid that, even though he says this isn't affecting him, it really is. He has not been taking medication which he should and it's showing. His skin is in a shocking condition. OK. He's says I'm nagging but, I'm afraid nagging is most definitely needed at the moment. He's staying up for too late and getting up for too late as well. he tends to brood on the past which is never a good idea. Need to get him out and about for a walk and get him focussed on reading, listening to music and finding other things to occupy his time. He's missing seeing his friends and what little family he has haven't been in touch. In fact, every contact with his family is instigated by him. Sad really.
Anyway, did a little tidying of the containers on the porch today and had a look at planning my little "garden". A bit too early to start planting outside but I might try to bring some things on indoors.
Still no word about when I will get my vaccination. Think it's going to be a lot later than anticipated but that's OK. I'll just keep out of the way.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.7 -
Evening all
No posts for a few days but only because I didn't have much to say! Work is.... the less said the betterdidn't get paid for my overtime AGAIN and also didn't get paid for my part time job. It was my first payday for that job so I assume there's been an error that can be rectified, but this is the fourth time I've been told the overtime will be paid and it hasn't... it's messed my budgets up.
Anyway, enough moaning. I still have a bit of money left this month so will try and keep that back as extra. Am up to 16 NSD's, have a couple of bits I need to buy but nothing major. Legitimately looking forward to riding tomorrow morning when it's all cold and frosty!7
