Spent the bulk of the day trying not to burst into tears. Feel worn out (it took me two hours to get through all my morning pills - brush teeth, had a throat lozenge, lots of cold drinks, then took pills one at a time). Phoned to book blood test appointments and the earliest was next Tuesday (when mum's consultant is due to phone). Asked about emergency appointments (explained that I had spent 3 days trying to contact our doctor, then tried the online service - also not working) and we could go to a centre at the far side of the borough 8+ miles each way and be seen without appointment (only mum, I've booked an appointment next Thursday), if it would be a consultant request (green slip). I said that it always went through our doctor's and they forwarded the results to the consultant so not a green slip. She said that if the doctor would stamp it urgent it could be done locally without appointment. Not sure if I will be allowed in the infirmary - she said they could bring the forms to the door. The exit is however at the far end of the building (about 2 blocks of streets so still difficult for mum.
Took out the new phone (delivered this morning) and it wouldn't light up. Kept reading the instructions and have learnt to insert the sim card (a bit fiddly), put in the battery and managed to do a digital email download to add credit. The nice young man at the SM has always done it for me before, so 3 new things learnt. This made me feel better so I decided to go to the cash machine whilst it was still light and suss out where I am meant to take mum for her first Covid vaccine on Friday. Got cash out (mum owes me) and a statement for my account. Walked all the way round the outside of the stadium (and past the junior rugby and athletics buildings) but could find nothing indicating where the vaccinations are done. Could hear someone talking (glasses were steaming up and it was dark enough for the street lights) and eventually met a man who could show me (roughly - he pointed out the bike stands which were invisible to me) where to go (he said that it wasn't the gym at all - mentioned the swimming pool, I'd forgotten all about that).
I was out for an hour and a quarter altogether, washed all my clothes and showered. I don't think mum will be able to walk but she's insisting she can. She's also sighing over having to go to the infirmary when the nurse could do it in 2 minutes (I've only spent the best part of two weeks getting us to this point). So infirmary tomorrow for blood tests (hopefully) and vaccine for mum on Friday. After that I'm going to try semi self-isolating (as I could catch covid from mum once she's had the vaccine. So have another list of things to do in between appointments - my own bag of toiletries to take in and out of the bathroom, extra cleaning and another batch 'prep' of easy to eat stuff that will also free up some freezer space.
Today I am grateful for helpful NHS staff and stadium staff, for getting as far as I did, for setting up the phone by myself, for the food I prepared on MondayMy mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage7 -

Today I am grateful for dd having a lovely bday, for my skateboard cake turning out ok (so long as I told you what it was meant to be!), for bonfire + fireworks, for a good day of working, for plenty of veggies.

Buckets of hugs @mothernerd, hopefully you will be able to escape for a little while soon. I know it is only the first step in a long march, but just keep on putting one foot in front of the other. Once grannynerd is jabbed, you should be soon after. Once the pair of you are jabbed, then it is all Doris Day (Que sera, sera!) and you are as covered as you can be, although the masks are going to be with us for a good long while yet, but you should be able to scale the perimeter fence every now and again.I am considering making yashmak style ones for summer, just adding a gauzy layer to the top of the winter ones, and sewing a pair of harem pants. It really is a lovely place, the land inside my head, I wish you could visit it.I have just taken another walnut wholemeal soda bread out of the oven and it looks fab.Soup for lunches is working marvellously well. Today's was tomato and red lentil with garlic bread.Today I have earnt a £5
2Sh0p voucher and a £5+ payout on p/a. I have also lied to DS4s primary school teacher about a painting he has (not) done. It will be done. Just at the weekend. Sorry teacher types!

Incredibly busy work day today and I was wide awake and cleaning the kitchen at 4am this morning. I am exhausted.
Grateful for my colleague’s online yoga class at lunchtime, an easy dinner from a batch cook of chilli, all the new books I got for Christmas.

Wednesday- still NSD 8/15, have definitely slowed down this week. However my car is serviced and has a valid MOT for another year 😁, so money which had to be spent and was ready to be handed over.
In an attempt to make my small amounts of money work harder- I have opened a(nother) new current account! Decent interest up to a certain amount so have stuck some money in there and hopefully I can ignore it and interest will make it grow!
Tomorrow I will spend NOTHING (at least I will try).
Grateful today for the car sailing through its MOT, the garage staff being as helpful and knowledgeable as ever, chocolate buttons and hot water bottles!8 -
Checking in with No 8 NSD, can't see why there won't be another tomorrow.
I am doing very poorly with exercise this week, on account of the essay. I will get 3 sessions in for the week thoughCreativity- been planning my return to work in the real world, with the new job, wardrobe got an electronic 'post it note' wth it all laid out. After a poor show of resting at christmas, due to illness and a pile up of admin, I have booked a long weekend off nit this week, but next. I am hoping to get some sewing done with fabric i have.
Grateful for
- a bit of space after my assignment
- a ham hock in the crock pot and letnils soaking (I know you don't need to, but i like to) ready to make soup

Evening all.
Just checking in as I've had a busy couple of days juggling teaching as my job, teaching my kids, exam related stuff, cats, house and trying to be all zen. No surprise that I've completely failed at that then, lol...
I've hit nsd 10 - went shopping very early Monday morning for the week ahead and properly stocked up. Had to go out today to buy glue (of all things) for ds home learning so got another couple of bits I needed while I was out (cheap at Bee Emm) - plus it was the first time I'd been out of the house in a couple of days so I made ds do a bit of a longer walk with me and we ticked it off as a PE lesson for this week. He's still behind with his work, but compared to last week he's doing well - it's only a couple of lessons this week at this point - it was 11 last week.
Mothernerd - I hope that you're ok. Thinking of you and sending much love.
