NST: January 2021 – the Turtles do the Jitterbug

Hello turtles
Today the intention was to wake up "early" and go to the gym, the alarm went off at 8:30..( on a Sunday!) . Bf turned off the alarm, both of us rolled over and went back to sleep. We woke up 4 hours later!!!! spent the next 2 hours cleaning and de-christmasifying the flat. Will have to get back into the routine of waking up at a reasonable hour.
There was quite a holiday atmosphere in the barrio today, everyone out and about drinking on the terraces as most people have the next few days off for Reyes Magos (the 3 wise men holiday) I dread to think what that will mean for the stats. As last year we have decided to start our new January routine after Reyes which is 6 Jan. This next week will be all about preparing for the first full week back at work next Monday.
keeping in touch with fam/friends - spoke to bestie in London on phone
exercise - none!
Not an NSD - bought a 2021 diary from the big cat shop. Find it easier to record my private classes on paper and who has paid etc.
Dinner will be thai curry with tofu and using up bendy veg that didn’t get used at xmas.
Currently drinking an irish coffee. Oops

NSD 2 today.
Did a big food shop yesterday. Only will only need to do top up shop when needed. Brought some other bits that I needed - did save money on these items. Also got the annual pre paid prescription card. January is an expensive month for me. The service charge payment for the flat went out from my bank account - I pay up for the all year. Council tax paid for the month. Thankfully there is no payment for February and March. Also brought a weekly bus pass on my oyster card. Picked up my orders from my favourite shop - got pj's - had used vouchers and needed new ones. Have finished all of the food that I brought for over Christmas and new year today.
Today I am grateful for:
Making scones.
Managing to do some household chores in the flat this morning.
Getting things ready, eg id staff badge for the induction day for the temp work tomorrow as I am starting this week. Have things in for my lunch to take in with me. Will make lunch in the morning.

Sunday- NSD 3/15, still plenty of food but the fresh fruit situation is looking a little dubious- I will try to juggle the milk and fruit supplies running out at the same time.
I have stewed some rhubarb to have with ice cream for pudding- great for decluttering the freezer- not so great in the mission to declutter the wobbly bits on my tummy.
Has anyone got ideas on what to do with frozen gooseberries? Our bush was laden earlier in the year and there was only so many I could eat fresh, as they all ripen at the same time. I don't think I have enough for jam or jelly but not sure what to do except stew them and add to yogurt or ice cream.
Christmas decs are down, all boxed up but not made it to the loft yet. Some pictures up on the wall, makes up for all the empty spaces where the decorations have been.
lcc86-jealous of you managing to ride- everything here is deep mud or ice, so not managed to ride here for ages!

Still on 1/15 NSD. Had my 1500ml water. Made an attempt to get out for a walk by going to a nearby country park with OH and DS - the whole of Scotland were there! Decided to come home. I did some more decluttering and wiping out cupboards, deep cleaned bathroom / toilets.
Spends today: £50 petrol which should last at least 2 weeks. Spent £8 on a 12 kilo bag of white grit salt which should last 20 years!
Today’s frugal living experiments:
- Diluting fruit juice with water - 50/50 water and juice. This worked well for all of us so I’ll keep doing this
- Cutting baking parchment to size for 2 sausages - again worked well and will do this from now on
- One teabag for 2 cups - I used a teapot and left the bag for 3 minutes. I filled my mug and poured the other half into a flask to have later in the morning. Unfortunately it was too weak for my taste. I’ll give it another go tomorrow and try steeping 4 minutes. But I do enjoy my brew, so if it doesn’t meet the mark, I’ll go back to a teabag per cup.
- I turned the heating down by 1C to 20C. The house was noticeably cooler but not uncomfortable. I have been getting dry eyes and skin recently, as well as feeling more thirsty, and I’m blaming the central heating. DS did say he was cold though so I popped a wee jumper on him and I put on some socks and slippers which seemed to do the trick for me. OH is always warm so he never noticed it. Will keep with it just now.
Grateful for the chocolate and wine gifts we’ve received and that I’m just about to indulge in, the Monday public holiday tomorrow, and Nutflicks.NST 🐢 & MF before 40 🤸10 -

More spends in supermarket today, also got some wood for stove. Radiators are being removed for two weeks tomorrow, ready for plastering - it's going to be freezing so we'll be huddling in the living room by the stove for next two weeks. Got my favourite cottage cheese whilst I was at it, and some coffee pods so I can have some proper-ish coffee in the morning.I also ordered some protein bits (personal spend) and a new toastie maker that isn't falling apart (it also has removable plates so easy to clean).Exercise wise, I've made sure I've got my steps in. I've managed 11,000 steps managed to pleased with that.February Grocery Budget: £190.75/£350.00
