@Pollycat Lovely display of glass, some beautiful pieces there!
A trip to Otley today and in the 99p* shop I got an M & S, BNWT fitted dress in a colour the label describes as 'damson'. Cost to me £4.99 but originally priced by M & S @ £69.
* They have a 'specials' rail in this shop where they put anything a bit more ermmm 'special' and they price things a little more. Found it on EBay.....
Forgot to mention that on Saturday in a Knaresborough chazza I found a lead crystal sugar shaker with a silver metal top priced at '50p as seen', cos the top was firmly jammed on. Always up for a challenge I set about it with warm water to expand the metal to get the top off, then hot water, then hotter and eventually off it pinged with the glass still intact. Then I saw that there was a metal band still attached to the glass with horrid looking yellow cementy gunk holding it on. Same procedure and some nudging with a fine blade and off it came. Managed to get all the cement fixative off and polished up the metal and cleaned the crystal with soda crystals. Soooo pleased with it...just got to glue the band thing back on somehow now.8 -
@Miró, I am so sorry to hear about Albert.
And on a completely different train of thought, that little damson number is stunning!7 -
@Miró - lovely glass bauble, thankyou for the photo. Sorry to hear of Albert having left us. Clever you to sort out the sugar sifter as well as finding the M&S dress.
@Pollycat - lovely Canada geese and such a beautiful display of glass. I had forgotten about your Waterford ornament but seeing the photo again reminded me to add one to my wishlist.
I popped into my favourite BHF shop this afternoon and found a nice glass bottle with a pouring spout top that I plan to use for dressings and drizzles £2.99. It's lovely thick glass and has markings in 30ml increments on the side which I hope you can see in this photo.

I wanted a coffee press for son1 but didn’t buy one earlier in the week as the charity shop wanted £8 for an old one.
Stourport Oxfam today had a brand new one (instructions still inside) for £4! Another stocking filler.10 -
Great finds everyone!!
I'm very impressed.
Two fruitful trips for me this week, another 4 books, £1 each as the lovely little shop has clearly cleared enough now doing the 4 for £1 deal so theyre back up in price. Not that I mind at all, because to me, £1 is still a good deal. So one from one shop and 3 from Sue Ryder.
Went back to Sue Ryder yesterday - cant even tell you why I felt drawn to, maybe because town was quiet and it seemed good time to browse books again (there was another person standing there day before and its always a bit awkward).
So 2 books found, a little GRRRR to get home and find out that one of them is actually a book 2, I seem to have a habit of that.
Then also found this quaint little pot, that I think was maybe an easter display item, since it looks like an egg with the top cracked off, and has a speckled paint look to it, but it caught my eye as a plant pot, so my baby aloe is now nestled in that quite happily, £1.
Find/chance of the day was a pair of balloon jeans, semi acid wash looking but darker denim, £3.95. Held them up and they didn't seem too long (I'm only 5'2 on a tall day) so I thought maybe I could roll the hems once of twice, got them home and tried them on, only one roll of the cuffs required and they fit really nicely on the waist, have a bit of room for walking about it so a very happy little me.Wealth is not measured by currency10 -
Chatting over breakfast about what I want for Christmas (a difficult thing to answer) but it reminded me that I wanted to go out and see what I could find for the other occupants of the house. (OH & MiL)
Well they won't be getting much at the rate I'm going.....but MiL has bought me (well you know what I mean) a new silk scarf!! A real beauty too - a big square with a floral pattern, BNWT, in the original bag! Store staff were very keen to point out that it had been researched that it's an original complete with a Gucci signature. It wasn't cheap - £30 - but is absolutely lovely. I don't normally go for square scarves but this was much too nice.
And I know that ebay isn't a good comparison for things but this it what I bought - but it's not crinkled or have fold lines! Or have stains!!!
