I'm not interested in wearing designer clothes, I like good quality at charity shop prices.
Yesterday I bought a black/grey/white coat Debenhams Collection from local hospice for £10.00.
It's Luther (Idris Elba) style - anyone remember the Comic Relief sketch?) but has a funnel neck so it can be worn with revere collar or buttoned up.
It means I have to 'out' one of my coats to make room in the wardrobe though.6 -
And for the comically shaped, like myself, it's charity shops All The Way looking for garments I can re-tailor for the short. No designer ever bothered with the under 5'4" menopausal (can't imagine why...) , so I can skip a lot of sartorial anxieties & chase bolts of cloth instead. Says she with two suit lengths awaiting a really good pattern & a lot of nerve, and thinking it's as well the lads aren't contemplating matrimony yet as with my luck I'll be shorter than the bridesmaids. In the Traditional Hat, I will resemble a (hopefully smartly turned out) mushroom...
That said, I love the January finds of Christmas gift sweaters the intended chaps did not make wardrobe space for... I can usually get matching mittens from the extra sleeve length too.11 -
I think people have been renting designer clothes for quite a while? Didn't Lilly Allen has a dress rental shop years ago? If I had a big event to go to then I would probably look at renting something fancy, but not at other times. For weddings I wear the same few dresses I always wear unless I'm a bridesmaid, so I have no idea what event I'm talking about.
Nipped into some charity shops in the week and yesterday. Got myself the game "a ticket to ride" for £15 looks brand new other than the box has been squashed. Promptly handed to mum so she can give it to me for Christmas. A sistemta (I can't spell) two section box for £3.50 and some winter weight work trousers from white stuff for £3.50.

I've rented hats for a couple of weddings, including one worn at Ascot by Zara Tindall (who is a regular customer of the firm) but sadly I don't get invited to social occasions which warrant a designer outfit!
Had a little splurge last weekend & spent £25:
Next full length black draped-back dress
H&M blue 70s swirly jumpsuit (both options for a NYE fancy dress party)
Principles black beaded dress with fringe
Per Una black floral waisted blouse BNWT
Kew red lambswool jumper
Primary colours& white patterned 80% cashmere scarf (looks fab with the Kew jumper)2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Did the rounds of the Northallerton charity shops today. Found a lovely BNWT duvet cover set with pillow cases by Christy in cream with a grey and lilac flowery pattern. Originally purchased from Barkers, (local pricy department store), for £130
but chazza price £5.99
. Super king size but I only need king size so 40cm excess fabric to play with when I’ve done me alterations. Woo hoo!!!!!

You could use the excess to make one of those really long pillows or a bolster cover.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. 2 small Cath Kidston bowls one sky blue and one a terracotta red colour £2.
Berketex black stretch velvet wide legged trousers £2.50. Not sure if they’ll be me as I have short legs and can’t wear heels so usually stick to skinnies.
Long black Amaranto velvet skirt with sparkly pattern and flarey pleats at the bottom £1. I think this is even less me so will probably re-donate. I thought it was worth a punt for a quid.
Navy Hollister jersey slightly flared tracksuit bottoms £2.50.
White Outland long sleeved top for layering £1.50.7 -
Potternerd, I wear wide-legs with Converse or brogue-type flat lace-ups - might be an option to consider?2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
