@DigForVictory - I hope @Brie will welcome us with open arms but we could always say that we'll go first when we get to crocodile infested rivers or something similarly noble couldn't we!
I think your Denby collecting is your version of what Denis Hattersley called "a personal hinterland" meaning something that a person finds absorbing and interesting for its own sake and pursues simply because they want to. I vaguely recall him going on to say that such an interest was good for ones soul no matter what it was as it took you out of yourself and your everyday pursuits and provided refreshment for both mind and body. Carry on enjoying your frustration then, it's good for you.
@C_J - I hadn't realised that the painting of St John's was by anyone interesting so thankyou for alerting me. Astonishingly cheap price for such an accomplished artist as well as a glazed frame, I'll look out for more of his work.

@goldfinches, I think we go through dubious rivers Before The Chef...
A personal hinterland - yes. What I google & speed-read makes sense. And I have at least one piece in sight I can identify to remind me of the joy & the huggability & the other bits that do things to my blood pressure.
This month's water mug is a pint Wade celebration of the coronation, unearthed in the tidyings still with its charity shop tag. Happily the Acquiz Committee Enforcers of 'no mission creep' haven't rumbled...5 -
I remember when I saw the one missing vase from my Denby Glynbourne collection (page 31 and 100. GB862).
I have every one on page 100, some multiples but that's OK as they are all hand decorated and therefore different.
It was at Kedleston Antiques Fair and we'd agreed to do the outside stalls in order by row. Up one side, down t'other.
But... I spotted 'the' vase on a stall 3 rows down and made a beeline for it. By the time OH had found me, I'd bought it and was testing the 'huggability'. That was back in 2004.5 -
Rummaged through the two Cancer Research shops in Northallerton on Sunday and came away with a pair of emergency trousers....M & S, BNWT's in navy, straight legged and priced at £4, (sale price sticker of £25 obliterated the original price.) Since Covid stole my taste buds most foods taste rather peculiar and I seem to have gone down a dress size, hence the emergency purchase7

Picked up a few more things today. In the Sue Ryder Hospice shop I found a pair of sand coloured, straight legged trousers from Long Tall Sally - lovely fabric, very well made, as new and priced at £3.75. I spent a couple of hours chopping four inches off the bottom of the legs this morning but it was worth the effort! Then found a 4 pack of M & S knee high stocking thingies which I find great under trousers when not wanting to wear tights. 50p in the Brain Tumour shop. Finally a wee tripette to Otley this afty and in the 99p St Gemma's shop I unearthed a BNWT Tulchan, white cotton, round necked, long sleeved, sweater priced at....erm...99p!6
