Good Morning all, hope everyone's well. Still here and potting away, we pay our Water Rates on a payment plan and have just carried on paying even though we had paid this years bill, so the outcome is we don't have to pay anything until 11th July! So the money we would have paid is going in the pot as well as the usual amounts I put in. Bonus!!!!

I have been in about four more shops but I haven't found anything at all.
A few of the shops had signs up saying they needed people to donate summer clothing.

Hi all, I have moved, and have a new regular journey that will take me around Bury St Edmunds and Sudbury.
Can anyone tell me about the charity shops in those towns, and in the area? And where to park for them? Any info much appreciated. It's not a cost of living crisis - it's a COST OF LEAVING THE EU CRISISUK exports to EU fell by £20bn last year, new ONS data shows
Figures show Brexit compounding Covid disruption, with clothing exports plunging 60%, vegetables down 40% and cars 25%

@gattona_2 I’m afraid I have no helpful recommendations but I know both places a little and I bet bury st Ed’s in particular has great charity shops! Please report back... I might venture out there one day.@goldfinches no drama re the link - I never know what the rules are either!6

@gattona_2 You want St John's Street in Bury St Edmunds. One of my American friends calls it The Charity Shop Street. There are a few on Abbeygate Street too. Good bargains to be found. I learnt how to charity shop in Bury St Edmunds in the 70s when I commonly picked up Edwardian and Victorian clothing and jewellery for well under a pound. I was stylishly dressed in those days!7

Well the Barnardo's was a complete bust today but I'd forgotten that there was an Oxfam on the other side of the road and that came up trumps.
The lovely volunteer by the till first offered to take the pile I was amassing from my arms and put it on the cash desk "to be decided later" and then carefully stacked, sellotaped and wrapped my purchases for me and crowned that with a free roll of wrapping paper from the three bins beside the till counter. She was wonderfully helpful about my winnowing down my pile and quite understood about my needing to measure the cake tin too which was lucky as it was a shade under 17cm in diameter so it wasn't big enough for my smallest cakes which are 18cm dia.
I snapped up 2 Silverwood mini pud moulds for 99p each and a Pyrex casserole and lid for £3.99 and here they are with the free wrapping paper.

Two of those Kilner's with homemade mincemeat in them make me feel very well prepared every time I delve into my larder, they're certainly good for my shelf-esteem."She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."

Ooh, I went in a hospice shop this morning and found a few lovely things.
I was looking at my silver buddha statue before I left and thinking I wanted another one and I found it. £5, in silver as well.
I wanted some summer skirts and I found a knee length M&S one which is perfect for a summer top and sandals. I also got a cobalt blue (one of my fav colours) cardigan as well as a Wallis pink cardigan.
I also got a leopard print clutch bag and a Miranda Hart book for 50p. The clutch bag I can use in June when I have a night out with my husband booked. It is too small for me to go out with on my own on a night out but when I am with him he carries the cash, the bank card, the door key etc... so I only need a couple of things in my handbag.
The women working there were saying they have lots of brand new Halloween and Christmas stuff in, but they said they have enough room to store it until then. I said how nicely they had presented the shop compared to the nearby shop I tried yesterday. They said they make an effort and steam all their clothes in their shop. You can really tell the difference.
