That's a shame about the plumber having to come and go pixie but if his partner is genuinely ill then you'll just have to accept it.
I'm being a bit cynical because a painter once let us down like that. He promised to turn up then emailed to say his wife was ill. We agreed another date but he didn't turn up and wouldn't answer his phone. We'd stripped the room and got rid of the old sofas, pending new ones being delivered, so had no choice but to go out and buy paint and do it ourselves. He was from Checkatrade but I couldn't leave a poor review because he never actually turned up!
It's raining on and off here. I feel very unfab as I haven't washed my hair or put make up on. I know my hair would be wrecked in the damp air and I never wear make up to have my eyebrows done. With masks, there's not even much point putting lippy on!
I might browse a bit while I'm in town for the eyebrow appointment. I need eye cream too and I should be able to have that 'free' as I've got loads on my Boots Advantage card. Normally I'd buy my eye cream at duty free at this time of the year. I think I'll check and see if there are any Boots offers.5 -
I know what you mean Maman but my DIL is a midwife on the ward his wife is on, I've mentioned her before and they know her so don't think he'd risk that, not that I'd ask her but he wouldn't know that.
As we have the ensuite plus downstairs loo it isn't the end of the world just a bit frustrating.5 -
Morning ladies
I'm very pleased to say that I've lost two and a half pounds this week. More than last week although I'm eating roughly the same so I think it's down to the fact that I'm not sitting on my bottom all day and being a bit more active.
The bathroom will be completed when Amazon find the curtain rod that they've lost. Basically I gave it a deep clean, tidied everything away, replaced all the accessories with navy ones and bought new plain navy and plain white towels. Even Himself keeps remarking how nice it looks.
So I've started on the kitchen now. Deep cleaned the dreaded under sink cupboard and another two. Actually managed to persuade Himself that a pile of useless items had to go in the bin. Another cupboard and set of drawers earmarked for today and then I'm going to replace all the accessories (bin, towel holder, etc) with new matching ones. My problem is that even with ladders I can't quite the top of the cupboards and when I get down on my knees to do the lower ones I can't get up unaided. Old age!!!!
Oh well. Must finish my pot of tea and then get on with it.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.7 -
Well done on the weight loss Toni.
We are moving about 30 miles away Pixie.
The football was really good last night, especially the Russia/Denmark game. Did you watch that Maman? I'm looking forward to England tonight! Eek.
We got the estate agent to take pics of our house yesterday. My husband is viewing a bungalow tomorrow and then we have 3 viewings on Saturday (two houses and a flat) and then one cottage early next week. My brother is coming with us on Saturday as it will be helpful to have another opinion. I actually like the two houses on Saturday the best just from seeing them online. I am going to see the flat as it is a good location but I think if I don't like it then we will rule flats out completely.
I did buy some red trainers from Amazon. I am going to wear trainers on Saturday after stupidly wearing boots last time. I looked and it doesn't look like rain that day, luckily.

That's a great result TF! Well done you!😊
You seem to be making good progress with the house too. The new accessories sound really smart but just clearing clutter makes a huge difference. I read the Marie Kondo book a couple of years ago and, while I don't follow the more airy fairy stuff, I'm a great believer in having a home for everything. If you've not read it, it's worth a look.
Yes I did watch the football last night Wednesday. We decided to watch the Russia v Denmark game as we had players from our club in the Denmark team. It was really exciting. Unfortunately I'm going dancing tonight so will miss both the Scotland and England games. If it wasn't that we only have a few dance classes that we've waited months for then I'd stay home tonight.
30 miles isn't that far. You can always come back for entertainment if you want to. We manage and we live 70 miles from central London. I'd have thought with your pets you'd really want a garden. 🤔
The weather is better than expected today, bright and dry and the chances of rain are very small. I think it stays quite nice for a week or so too. You're right to wear trainers or sandals at this time of year as boots can look very heavy.
I'm pleased with my eyebrows from yesterday's appointment. I've gone for a darker tint to give contrast with my fair hair. I had a quick look in H&M . They had some really nice sunshine clothes but as I'm not likely to go away anywhere hot then I suspect they'll have loads left come the sales. I went into Boots and got my Clinique eye cream as my current one is almost gone. I could pay for it with my Advantage card do it was technically 'free'. 😁 I always buy my branded cosmetics from Boots as you get the points but they cost the same as in John Lewis.
I've washed and styled my hair this morning. I used the banana hair mask for the first time as I just finished one off. It smelled very fruity but I'm pleased with the effect.8 -
Thank you, Maman. I'll have a look at that book.
Curtain rod arrived this morning and I've managed to put it up myself. Feeling quite pleased with myself as I'm not really very practical. It's looking really nice, Did lots of cleaning in the kitchen and organising of the cupboards. It's looking much less cluttered. Just having a sit down now and a tonic minus the gin and making a plan for tomorrow.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.7 -
Hello Ladies,
Toni's Friend. Congratulations on losing more weight this week and also on all of your house fabbing in your bathroom and kitchen.
I went to visit family in Andover yesterday and had a lovely time. Especially with my great grandson. He has grown so much since my last visit and his development is coming along so well. He gets more and more cute.

Sugar your DGGS is adorable and you are making me so broody (for 20 seconds). I’m pleased you got to visit him.
ive been reading along, but haven’t posted. Work is quite hectic at the moment, so I’ve been busy with that.
wednesday if you are moving 30 miles away, I assume you will be moving to the Coast in Essex. Funnily enough we were in Saarfend recently, but it was so busy! I had a wave of nostalgia when I was there. We’d regularly go to Southend (and other seaside towns) when I was young and I have lots of happy memories. Even though we’ve taken the children to beach lots of times, this time made me really appreciate life.
