I agree about the phone but it's not good on the PC, acres of empty space on the left which is odd considering we read left to right. 🤔
I've had a busy week but will have more time to post over the next few days. 😊7 -
Hello Ladies,
Due to a lack of communication about the time change for the Creative Writing session, I turned up to find no one there and the room locked up.I turned around and came home, making a stop at Poundland in Camberwell.
I received such poor customer service from one of the store colleagues in Poundland, that I made a written complaint to Poundland when I came home. I got a reply this morning apologising to me for the whole incident and assuring me that the incident is being investigated by the Area Manager and the Store Manager. I was surprised to get such a swift reply to my complaint but pleased.
I chose not to go to the Open Mic this afternoon as it has been raining too heavily for me to want to venture out in it. I used the time wisely today and am washing all of the new white bath sheets, bath towels and hand towels that I bought from Tesco recently. They will need a few washes and tumble dries to get all of the loose fluff off them before we can use them. I need to clear my son's room of the towels, as he will be home soon for his birthday.6 -
Good that they took it seriously sugarbaby, i'm sure it was bad if you felt that strongly about it.
Maybe the new layout is better for phones then, I've figured out where we are now, I just struggled yesterday but searched for posts by me, clicked on one on this thread and then worked backwards to see where it was. I suppose I'd just got lazy with the old layout.
I had fun with Sainsburys yesterday. Local store had a computer failure or wifi or something so my order didn't arrive. Phoned customer service and they said it looked like my order was cancelled. Went to the store to do my shopping, spoke to customer service and they said they just didn't know if I'd get my order. I said OK I'm here, here's my name and order don't worry about it as I'll do my shopping. It was chaos in there, lots of people like me who hadn't had orders. So did my shopping and arrived home to see the delivery van coming down the road and my shopping in the hall. Panic stations as I tried to get everything I could in the freezer. Everything is away safely and basically I can cancel my order for next week but what a start to the day.6 -
We did nearly 18,000 steps while we were walking around the coast the other day.
My legs are still hurting and I was wearing boots, stupidly. Next time we go out house hunting I'm wearing my trainers.
The first flat was too small/too little storage space (nicely done up though) and then the second house needed far too much DIY. My husband is seeing another two properties today. We got our house valued yesterday and both valuations were more than we had hoped. We might be putting our house on the market quite soon so we are in a better position. I'm hoping it might be a first time buyer/couple that will buy our place and then there won't be a long chain.
I haven't been doing much fabbing and I have been eating junk food non-stop since I haven't been drinking alcohol!I need to start eating healthily today. I've been enjoying watching the football even though the match last night was pretty uneventful goals-wise! I'm making a healthy veggie and rice dish for brunch later and I've just had fresh fruit and water so far.
The weather has cooled down here. It was very humid when we were at the coast but I had goosebumps last night at home.

It is very grey and miserable here, I think we are going to have rain. I got a bigger skip than the guy doing the bathroom thought we'd need so I could get some of our stuff sorted. I have done quite well, got rid of some rusty garden tools, an old lawnmower and strimmer and some other bits and pieces. Will save me a couple of trips to the tip and they are limited now, max 4 in any 28 days so unless you time it properly you might only have 2 in a month and we have lots of junk. I'm just taking a break as I'm a bit tired. I did two runs at the end of May and 2 at the start of June and thought I could book 2 more in anytime in June but I can't till the last week and that's why stuff has been building up.
I've got to clear everything off the patio as it is being relaid as it has all gone wobbly so a large patio with all the slabs lifted and base redone, then relaid and then a power wash. I'm feeling good about all we are getting done but the downer is I've found a little leak in the downstairs loo so I have got to ask the plumber to sort that for me. I'm also getting a new stopcock as I am always worried when I turn it off and on, it is as old as the house, so about 40 years so I think it has done it's time and it seems silly to wait for it to break and then get someone out as an emergency.
Hope the househunting goes well Wednesday. It isn't my favourite thing but I know people who seem to enjoy it.7 -
So sorry you missed your groups this week sugarbaby but good to know that they're up and running again. I know I'm delighted that my dancing classes have restarted. I've danced 3 times this week although they'll soon end for the summer break. We do sometimes have classes in August but it depends on whether the teachers are available and people are taking breaks now as they missed so much last summer.
I'm a fan of white towels too but I have put one dark towel in the bathroom this week. I've been using the fake tan to give me some colour wearing summer dresses and bare legs but unfortunately it does come off a bit on the towels . Fortunately it does wash off but I don't like to see them looking grubby.
You've made amazing progress on all your house fabbing pixie. It is useful to have a skip to take advatage of. I got rid of an old ironing board and some other bits when we were having our bathroom done. Are you pleased with yours?
Would you rent temporarily if you got a buyer your house Wednesday? It would give you time to have a proper look around. Some people choose to rent in a new area to make sure its where they want to be.
I'm keeping up with the fabbing. I have an appointment booked for Monday to have my eyebrows done. 😉7 -
Maman we haven't got very far yet, complicated but an emergency with the plumbers family so we lost some time but he is doing a brilliant job. The bathroom is all stripped out, the floor replaced, all new plasterboarded and pipes all done ready for things to be fitted, he has done such a tidy job. It will all start to move more quickly now as I think fitting the bath, shower, toilet, basin will be quick, I suppose the tiling will take most time. To be honest it was nice to have a bit of a break and we have an ensuite so not a terrible inconvenience. I'm hoping he's back Monday.
I've worked hard today and filled the skip and emptied DHs storage thing, moved them off the patio and refilled them. He has one of those plastic things with doors on a lift up top and it is full of the stuff he can't get in the shed/garage/lock. It is amazing how much it holds.7 -
We wouldn't rent a place Maman because of our pets. My husband didn't like the house yesterday (well, it was very spacious but it needed too much DIY, like the first house we saw) and the flat wasn't in a great location. It was nice on the inside too, again like the first one we saw!
We have the estate agent coming over this week to take the photos of our house. We need to apply for a mortgage quite soon too, I assume. I need to read the house info on MSE again. I was getting stressed last night thinking what if our house sells quickly but we can't find anything we want to buy. Hmm, I suppose we have only seen 4 properties so far.
We are thinking about going down to the areas again next weekend to look around again. We covered a lot of ground last time so we should get a good idea of the two areas we want to buy in with one more day of walking around. I was going to order some red trainers from Amazon as I thought it was Prime offer day today but it is tomorrow and Tuesday so I will wait until then.
I have some conditioner on my hair and I'm about to have a hot shower and get dressed. I'm going to wear a black wrap around shirt I bought from a chazzer recently. I want to do my fingernails with clear varnish and put on foot balm and fluffy socks. I can't believe how much cooler it is. I had to wear socks in bed last night!
I think I will read my thriller book to take my mind off moving house. There is the football as well. The Portugal/Germany game was really good yesterday.

I'd forgotten that pets can be a problem when renting Wednesday. Funnily enough I was talking to my DD2 earlier and she was having trouble finding somewhere for a short break next month where they can take their dog. They usually go for a pet friendly Airbnb but prices seem to have rocketed or places are fully booked.
I've really enjoyed the football too. I haven't watched every match but will be cheering on Wales this afternoon. Although DH is English we were supporting Scotland on Friday as we have two of our team's players in the Scotland squad. It's good to see 'underdogs' doing well. 😊
It's dry here and brightening up but much cooler than last week. We'll have a proper roast dinner tonight so I'll have to time the cooking round the football. 🤔6 -
How far away are you looking Wednesday? We moved 180 miles to the coast, it is really hard particularly when you get home and find the details of a house worth looking at have just arrived in your emails.
My bathroom saga continues with plumber arriving and then getting a message that partner has been admitted to hospital and he's had to go and pick up little one to take to relatives. Not sure how long this is going to go on for, obviously her health is important but for my sake as well as hers I hope things get resolved.
Bucketing down with rain so patio is also a no go. All feels a bit frustrating.6
