Hello Ladies,
Maman I do sing at home, but not very often unless I am singing Gospel songs. My 4 children can all sing. My elder son used to love Karaoke. My 2 daughters and younger son are all good singers but lack faith in their singing ability. My 2 daughters try to avoid singing in public, but when my younger son was in Secondary school, he was in a vocal group where he sang acapella. I have video of him singing at school events and it made me so proud of him and his vocal abilities. He has never sang in public since leaving secondary school, which is a shame.
It is thanks to this thread that I too have really kept up all of my pampering, so now, once everything reopens I will be ready. Even my feet are sandal ready as all of my evening shoes are sling backs or sandals. Once the sun appears, I will be wearing all of my sandals.5 -
Plumber cancelled. I'm going to start taking a shower with a hosepipe in the back garden and wash in a bucket.6

Oh that's a shame pixie. Have you tried asking neighbours for recommendations? We have a local residents association that shares information on good trades. It's especially useful for us as we live in a conservation area and not everyone can do our sort of work. Or perhaps a bathroom showroom locally has cards displayed or could recommend. Our plumber recommended a showroom he works with so I wondered if it happens the other way around. Or Checkatrade? How very frustrating for you. ☹️6

The first one was recommended, he recommended the one who was due today, the one yesterday I found on checkatrade. I'll have to have a look for bathroom showrooms, the only ones I know are Wickes and B&Q and I've heard bad stuff about their fitting service - expensive and not great. I'm starting to think what's the point. Maybe it is everyone wanting work as we come out of lockdown so maybe I should just wait a few months.4

Hello Ladies,
My younger son came with his laundry yesterday and stayed for a few hours. The 3 of us played 2 music games which was so much fun. Normally I would leave the 2 of them to it, as they are very knowledgeable about music lyrics, song titles and the artistes whereas do not know enough about modern music in any genre. We laughed so much together that I was so glad that I decided to participate.
My son is coming home for Easter, which means that I am really looking forward to having him home.5 -
That sounds so lovely sugarbaby, taking time out for a game and having a laugh. It's great that your younger son can come home for Easter and you have time to plan some of your delicious meals to enjoy together. 😋
I watched rather a lot of television yesterday, including an hour in the afternoon. The final series of Keeping Faith starts on Saturday, I enjoy it because it's set in South Wales and I know lots of the locations but the plot is complex so I was catching up on Series 2 in readiness. Usually I don't watch TV until 8 p.m. so it felt very decadent.
I meant to comment Wednesday that, I agree, it is a good idea to treat yourself to fresh flowers regularly. Just yesterday I threw away some of my flowers and now I just have the roses left that DD1 brought me on Mothers' Day. Lately I've been buying spray carnations. I used to think they were a bit naff but I've come to enjoy them in my vintage vases. They last really well too, several weeks.
I'm going to give Aldi day cream another go and see whether it was just a blip when it made my eyes water. I'll buy some when i do my weekly shop. I finished a pot of my regular moisturiser yesterday and thought I'd like to stretch the next one a bit by alternating it with a better value one. I already do this with my serum by using flaxseed oil a few days a week. I can afford to treat myself but mse is firmly ingrained so stretching it a bit seems like a good idea. If it doesn't work then I'll use it on my elbows and feet.
Today, I can't put the ironing off any longer. 😉7 -
I've had three very early nights in a row and I feel much better, still tired though. I was in bed by 8.30 last night and got up after 9 this morning. Unfortunately I was so tired that I didn't take off my makeup three nights in a row too. My skin looked really blotchy when I woke up this morning. I used a hydrating face mask that you don't wash off and I also did a hair treatment before my shower.
The bank called yesterday as someone had tried to use my card to make charges on it so it had to be cancelled which is annoying. I have no idea how it happened as I've hardly been anywhere to use my card, for obvious reasons.
I'm wearing my fake DM boots today. I thought I had worn them before but I think the weather was too warm on the day I was going to wear them. I didn't realise they were in fashion until I saw Davina McCall say that they were. I did see a woman wearing DM boots when I went to the dentist recently. We have started watching another Netflix show. The Haunting of Hill House. Well, I only watched a few episodes as I could hardly keep my eyes open the past few nights so we will finish the series today and tomorrow.
Maman - I like carnations too.

Positive thought for today:
The foolish man seeks happiness in the distance, the wise man grows it under his feet (James Oppenheim)4 -
It's strange but I find weekends, and particularly Fridays, easier to cope with than other days during lockdown. As a creature of habit, I always do my weekly shop on a Friday so it helps to have something planned. I suppose we all like some structure in our lives and that's been missing in the past year.🤔
I did think of going out yesterday but decided that I'd get the ironing out of the way as I'd posted that I would on here and felt some accountability. DH was apologetic that he seemed to have produced a large number of shirts for ironing. I had to confess that it was only because I hadn't ironed anything for many weeks. My own clothes (like the leggings and thermal tops) don't need ironing so it made his mountain of stuff seem worse.😊
I've decided to upgrade my second choice moisturiser to an Olay product. It's quite a saving on my usual one and has a SPF30 which if we're going to spend so much time outdoors in the coming months seems like a good idea. I know it's not fixed but the forecast for April looks fairly promising so I'm hoping for some sun. 😊7
