Well the rain stayed away, and the sun is shining again - feel a little over dressed. The builder has been and gone and completed all of my list apart from removing the rubbish, but that will be collected tomorrow. I am very happy with the results and will pay the remaining balance as soon as the bill comes through. Feel like I can hoover everywhere now without the thought of builders coming and going.
I have also completed what was needed for horrid job and await more info on that, fingers crossed we are nearing the end and it is almost sorted.
Haven't managed to get DS to look at his work as yet, DD2 said she will try to help explain what is needed as he isn't getting it when I try, plus he listens to her as she isn't a parent!
When DD1 turned 17 she got money from XH to pay for quite a number of lessons. DS turns 17 in October and was speaking to me about it today. He said he guesses he wont get the money, I said probably not as he was unable to pay anything at the moment. DS didn't realise he wasn't paying child maintenance. Anyway today we applied for his provisional licence, but because he hasn't got a passport, it means we need to have a form sent to us first before it is issued. I am guessing we will need to send a photo and birth certificate or similar to prove who he is. He then needs to get looking at the highway code. I think he will struggle with that part, but get the practical side really easily. I also mentioned that I have enough pizza hut vouchers ready for our next visit. I thought he would want to go for his exam results, but turns out it would be better for his bday, which is more than fine with me.
I need to nip to the post office shortly and to feed brothers cat on the way home. Feel like I've been sat down all day, but also feel I have achieved quite a bit too.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Still no rain here so really need to water next doors plants. DD1 is off on her hols with a group of 7 other teens - some sensible, but others not so much. Feel for the neighbours of the house they are going to be staying in. She is sensible (kind of) so I am just hoping she stays safe.
DS called me into his room in the middle of the night, on my way to the bathroom, to show me he had done some of his homework. I realised this morning that he had also cleaned his room and filled a bin bag with rubbish. Not sure his body clock is quite right so need to reset it before Sept and he needs to wake up to catch the bus.
Just checked all of our premium bonds and DS has won £100. He is popping it in his learn to drive fund.
Today I need to sort through the bedding and towels that came from the airing cupboard and are in my bedroom. Now the builder has taken up at least half of the space we had in there with the shower pump and pipes, I need to see what will fit and what needs to go. I need to not be sentimental and keep things for the sake of it and I need my bedroom floor back. Wondering if boxes on shelves are the way to go. Have plenty of boxes in the garage that I could use for now to see if it works.
I also want to sort through DS clothes to see what he has as well as what can go. Finally got him some shorts that fit so need to see what else he will need as he will no longer have school uniform, and will need actual clothes.

Great news about DD getting the job! Yay!
My DS & DD also have messed up body clocks. Both seem to be awake in to the early hours each morning, and when I ask why all I get is "cos we can". They will get a rude awakening come September. DS especially as he has been homeschooled all this last year

Yes the bathroom was finished off yesterday. They are coming to collect all of the rubbish today at some point and then that is everything sorted. I think it looks really good but expect some may say it isn't designer. I went with something that will hopefully not go out of fashion in a few years and is functional which is what we need. It did take them the entire month which I wasn't expecting, but that is done and another room ticked off my list. I wonder what diy project will be next once I have saved up.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

I think functional and well built trumps fashionable any day. Ours took weeks to do and that was with DP doing it so he was on site all day (albeit meant to be working most of the time) 😆MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. Thank you, I do too.
Off to collect DD2 shortly from her workshop at the library (2nd one this week). She loves anything crafty so these free workshops are great for her.
DS awake but feels the 3 hours he spent on his homework in the night is enough for now. I will try again later. I have however started to clear through the towels and bedding ready for restocking the airing cupboard. I have several duvets (winter ones and spare one for the sofa bed that will no longer fit. I think I need to get some of those bags where you suck the air out and then store them in the loft until needed. I also have a pile for Christmas - towels and bedding and posh table cloth. Getting there slowly but still much more to go.
Will feed brothers cat on the way home from collecting DD2 and post office. Dinner tonight is one of our favourites, pizza chicken, mini potatoes and veg.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

This morning there is no sunshine and it is drizzling (less watering of next doors garden required). DD2 is playing at the local fete from lunchtime so hoping it keeps a little dry, even if not sunny. We are there for 3 hours so sitting for that long in the rain will not be fun.
DD2 and I are off to a quiz this evening too so it is going to be a day full of being around people - will need a quiet one tomorrow. Hoping the quiz will be fun - never won but always seem to enjoy ourselves which is the most important thing.
DD2 had a great time at the library yesterday doing her craft workshop - she made paper roses which look really good. She intends to practice more and perfect them and has requested some pearl beads to put in the centre of them which I agree will look good. Said we can have a look in town tomorrow for her shift at the library (volunteering with the reading challenge), and I am returning yet more clothes that didn't fit DS.
DD1 is texting me a lot as the boys are annoying her already, and has shut herself away in her room a few times just for some peace and quiet. She is so like me but would never admit it lol. She is having fun as well and today will be on a boat on the river (not her first choice of fun).
Made some progress with my room and the airing cupboard yesterday. Just need the bags now so I can store the excess duvets and pillows in the loft until they are needed. Slowly getting my bedroom back normal. I have several drawers that can be thinned out and then I plan on taking a trip to the tip where they have a charity type shop that sells things not ready for the bin. The loft also needs sorting through too but bedroom first.
It is getting darker as I type - will go find the umbrellaMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Thank you - she is still happy.
Yesterdays trip to the fete was fun and there were only a few brief showers, in fact we haven't had the rain that was supposed to arrive at any point this week.
We also had a lovely evening at the quiz and although it looked promising at half time we went down in the second half. Somehow we still finished around half way and ended up coming home with half of friends raffle prize. They hope to run some more throughout the year.
Had a video call from DD1 and her friends and although they are starting to rub each other up the wrong way they seem to be having a good time. She is home tomorrow and think she will be happy to be back.

Today we (me and DD2) are off to do outdoor cooking. It is going to be a hot one so hopefully we will be able to find shade somewhere. We will have fun as long as the trek to find wood isn't too long in this heat. I have a sun hat and am about to slap on the sun cream, as I cant afford to get burnt again.
DD1 is also home from her adventure and I am sure will have lots of stories for us.
2nd load of washing is almost ready to go on the line. Will shower when home as will stink of smoke from the camp fire. Possibly spag bolognaise for dinner tonight. We will get a lot of fresh food today to bring home, so will see if we can avoid a supermarket shop this week. See how it goes. Next week is our holiday so don't want to fill the fridge too much.
I have just booked the ice skating for the kids. Grandad bought DD2 it for her Christmas present and we are only just getting round to going. He will give the money back to me later, just didn't want to do the online ordering lol. Just emailed them as wondering if they actually have any skates that will fit DS's size 13 feet!
Right washing machine has finished so need to pop that on the line, then get going. Have a lovely dayMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19
