Nothing else spent here but I am not going to manage the month with no SM shop so I have secured a click and collect slot for Monday for DH and have started to build my shop. I noticed myself clicking on lots of regular and favourite things without really thinking. There are two elements to this:
On one hand it is how my costs creep up, by including tempting stuff I don't actually need. On the other hand my friend who is a sailor (in various specialist groups on navigation) has just sent a message saying that EA might be severely affected by snow at the end of the month into Feb - so I might up the quantity of staples so we don't need to go out, while paring back the treats that had become a habit (and responsible for that 4lbs extra weight I had gathered in and deposited around my waistline last year).Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far
I also Reverse Meal Plan on that thread and grow much of our own premium price fruit and veg, joining in on the Grow your own thread

joedenise said:joedenise said:I managed to get a couple of aubergines on Thursday @Hild0 from Mr Ts but they were 75p each and not very big - I would normally have only need one of the usual sized ones! I'm making a butternut squash and auberine tagine for dinner tonight - a new to me recipe so hoping it's OK.
Any ideas - will need to include meat otherwise DH will be complaining. I can get away with veggie once a week!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Another shop today as forgot Loo Roll! Also grabbed some veggie/meat haggis for the 25th, and Bay Leaves that supermarket didn't have when I did big shop.
signature updated, massively over budget by end of the month, but such a large proportion has gone on wood. Think next month I'll create a separate budget for Household items (wood, detergent etc) and as don't get them regularly, might be make it an annual budget.
February Grocery Budget: £190.75/£350.00

Been to Mr S as DH fancied some fish for tea and he likes it from there - I always spend too much there. It’s a bit unfortunate that I broke the mop and also ran out of floor cleaner, but the rest was food. After making space in the freezer since new year, I have now filled it up with fish...... I won’t have to go back to Mr S for fish for a while so can shop somewhere less expensive next time, however I spent too much today.....
55.80 (plus 35.2 from last week) makes 91 / 160 this month. Not really on target.

cw18 - snap - we had a part bake baguette today for lunch with a hard boiled egg filling. I got two double packs of them from h. - in my stock so no spend. True - not the same as a bought demi baguette but as you say cheaper.

Pooped to CO-0P to see if I could find any Shopmium freebies whilst picking up my freebie chocs (during essential travel 😇). £1.60 spent (hopefully being recouped) and £2.10 refunded to PayPal! Budget stands at £67.38/£200. Hopeful that I can bring it in significantly under budget this month!

Had to buy emergency rubber gloves today after having a clumsy accident while washing up and discovering that I didn't have another pair in the cupboard and the bathroom ones had gone sticky.
Decided to combine it with this week's shopping run and that if I'm careful I can last out now until Saturday at least.
So two pairs of extra strong gloves, milk, yoghurt, salad veg and reduced veg and fruit came to £12.60 which brings me to a total of £49.69/£124 which is on target if you squint and take tomorrow into account too.
Has anyone got any tips for making the gloves last longer, they were £2.50 a pairand I feel as though they only last about 5 minutes.
