  • Hello my beautiful diary friends I hope you are all okay.

Car insurance renewal has come through £397 for the year. I was getting £420 on comparison sites for the same cover so I'll stick with my current insurer. Also car tax goes out next month that is £30 for the year. Breakdown cover is included in my insurance.

DD Isn't well. So won't be going far from home today will just have a chill day at home. Was suppose to be meeting up with MIL but we have canceled as dd is well.

I thought I would make a list of things that I do to save us money so I'll do that today to post on here. Might be handy for some.

I'm going to get some laundry done. Tidy up and then finish my diploma work today. Hopefully I'll be able to read my book tonight. 😀

I got some docs second hand, they are lovely. I'm very happy with them. Due to my cerebral palsy shoes don't last me. But I bought a pair of docs 2-3 years ago and they are still going strong so I invested in a hardly worn second hand, second pair. I also got some files for my level 4 work. And got a new book for 90p (I've read it before and loved it but i no longer have a Copy of it so I got another copy). These are my only spends in the last few weeks apart from kids buckets and spades.
I will start using the libary once I've read all the books I have and will only buy ones that I really enjoy so I have my own copy. I do use the library ebook app but they regularly stop titles to put on new titles. I also use prime reading.

Nothing to really report.. I Need to do a food shop fridge is looking quite bare.

Hope you are all well. Hugs to those that need or want one 🫂

  • Good morning my beautiful diary friends,
I hope you are all well.

    Aww thankyou so much @missymoo81

@apple_muncher they are the best. I'm now the proud owner of 3 pairs in total. Although my shoe obsession is definitely irregular choice. ❤️

Its lovely here today. 😊 clothes are whizzing round the washing machine with my eco eg*s

I've finally submitted my initial assessment for my level 4 qualification... fingers crossed... wish me luck

    Off to work now

  • Good evening my beautiful diary friends,

I hope you have all had a lovely day. Hugs to those that need or want one.

Finished work. Came home and read my book.

I forgot to mention I've continued to get the puppys food through amazon subscribe and save. So it's costing us £1.49 per kg instead of £2.25 per kg.

While I'm on the topic here are some of the things I've been doing in the last few weeks to save money.

    - I now use eco eggs instead of washing powder

    - buy the puppy's food in a larger quantity through amazon subscribe and save

    - buy quality items - this is actually more frugal as the item will last longer instead of having to replace it over and over again

    - buy used instead of new

    - shop around for car insurance etc

    - look up recipes online instead of buying cookbooks - most food writers / recipe book creators have their own blogs

    - use the libary or the libary ebook service (if your libary has one) instead of buying new

    - have a sim only plan. I pay £5.40 for each of our mobiles. I haven't had a contract phone since 2016

    - line or air dry your clothes as much as possible - saves money on the cost of running the dryer and you clothes will last longer

    - turn off your lights when your not in the room or you don't need it on. Same for plug sockets

    - do your own DIY and car maintenance where possible

    - freeze leftovers , meal plan , cook once eat twice.

    - we have a log burner so this year I'll be trying to source and much wood as I can for free

    - use freecycle / freegle / Facebook to see if you can borrow, exchange or find the item you need for free

    - find out what is going on that's free in your local area, you might be surprised to find out

    - exchange clubcard points for days out / hotel stays / meal vouchers

    - sell what you don't need

    - stay organised so you know what you have and you don't buy duplicates (this is a working progress for me)

    - car share / walk / cycle when possible

    - make sure you are getting everything you are entitled to

Thats all I can think of off the top of my head

  • Morning my beautiful diary friends
    Hope you are all well.

Ds2 teacher has received a Copy of the letter of his diagnosis that we were told about earlier this year so hopefully we will receive our copy in the next few days.

No spend day yesterday, should be the same today.

Washing machine has Been on again early this morning 🙄 it's never ending 🤣

Got my work stuff In the tumble and the rest DP has pegged on the line.

Tomorrow I need to take the pup to the Vets to be weighted and for her flea treatment stuff. (She doesn't have fleas it's to prevent them)
I also need to do a skip run tomorrow.

And I'll do another Facebook listing session.

Need to try and do a quick clean and tidy before work.

13 shifts left till we go on out camping holiday ! I can't wait. ❤️

I'm gutted the half term has finished and they are back at school already. Only 4 more weeks and they are off again and we will be on our holibobs ❤️

I need to pay some money in the bank for spending money before then 🤔 that I've been saving in a tin 🤣 I'm tempted to take cash and keep it locked in the car 🚗 it's so easy to spend money when you are paying for everything on card.

We also have  a week away booked for October. We should be debt free by then.

Just checked the bank and I've had an unexpected tax credit payment go into my account. Its not really extra as they have lowered our monthly payment. But I've put it in my emergancy fund pot to start building that back up rather than a debt payment. I will probably use it as an extra debt payment eventually but for now it can stay in the emergency fund

  • For anyone wondering, I have a spreadsheet with a tab for each month, and the first page is our expected monthly income and outgoings on a basic month for the budget. And at the end of each month I plan for the next month apart from major things like car insurance etc and Xmas that I plan at the beginning of the year and put money aside monthly for.
