Good evening my beautiful diary friends,

I hope you are all well.

Today I did a small tesco shop to top up some essentials we are running out of.

Ds1 has also now test positive to covid. Both ds1 and DD don't seem to be too unwell.

I've decreased our mortgage term from 37 years and 3 months to 30 years. This has increased our monthly mortgage payment to £437.94 as of April from £378.43.
It will save us £24,000 over the term of the mortgage. It Is £28.71 cheaper than our fixed rate when we first had the mortgage. And we have slashed 7 years off the term. We made some large overpayments when we first had the mortgage, the when we took out the first loan around 6 months after we moved we just made a few small overpayments, in total we have overpayed by about £4000

We cleared out the room that will be DD's yesterday and started painting it today.

Other than tesco no other spends have been made. Already had the paint for dds room

  • Morning my beautiful diary friends

Brought flowers for grandma, ex mil and mil for mothers day. Ex didn't get anything for ex mil she was so overwhelmed I had flowers delivered to her she cried with happiness. You can't put a price on that. Grandma was also really greatful. Didn't realise mil was away so she hasn't seen hers yet. 😱

Other than that and the tesco shop that got delivered no other spends this week. Having all the kids at home isolating helps, I'm still able to work as I'm testing negative but other than work and dp taking the dog for a walk we haven't left the house.

I've shuffled money around for next month's bills and food and fuel. So that's all ready for the 1st.

I've made another payment to the loan. Using money left over from this month and some savings . When the payment clears the balance of the loan should be £5800.00

Hoping to have a good month in April like we did in March. March was our best month yet for low spend / no spend.  Paying the debt down wouldn't be possible if we hadn't stripped back all the bills as much as we have and doing the no spend / no spend.

Been decorating dd room this weekend. Hopefully have it done by the end of the week ready for carper to be brought and fitted next month.

Hope you are all well. Hugs love positivity and prayers to you all

  • Morning my beautiful diary friends
Payment that i made the other day has cleared on the loan account
As its the end of the month I thought I'd do a debt total as no more payments will be made this month.

    Loan £5800
    Housing association £1291.09
    Total £7,091.09

No non essential spends that haven't been budgeted for or already had money put aside for  (mothers day, car mot and repairs, dd present I'd already put up a few months ago, her bedroom I brought the paint a few months ago too) have been spent this month. I also took some money from the savings. Which is how we have managed to pay off so much.

I might have owed holiday in next month's pay. If I do that will go streight to the loan. I'll try and pick some extra hours up too, although I won't be killing myself for a few extra ££.... work has got really hard. Every shift is exhausting. If I wasn't about to start my level 4 and enjoy the people i work with etc I'd of moved on by now. I really would love to look at doing a social work degree. Maybe it's something I can look at next year. 🤔

I've got October half term off. I'm tempted to book a week away if the debt is paid off completely by then..

We are going away at the end of May. Camping. We were going with family but they cancelled there's when my uncle got really poorly. He passed away at the end of last year. I wasn't going to book to go with them but at that point I thought we would be in debt for at least another 2 years and figured we could do with a break away after the last few years we have. We haven't been away since October 2019. We are really looking forward to it. The pup will come with us too. Hopefully we get some dry weather.

  • Morning my beautiful diary friends
    Hope you are all well.
Hugs positivity prayers to all that Need xx

Mortgage payment at new amount has gone out.
Tried to contact the housing association we use to be with about the debt we have a payment plan and have been paying with them since October 2019.. they couldn't find the account online. 🙄 and said they would be In touch if they haven't by the end of the week I'll be phoning them again.

Kids break up for half term on Thursday, I'm working for most of it.

I need to go to the bank at some point in the next few weeks and pay in some savings I have been saving in a tin over the last few years.  I have it all counted and ready just needs to be paid in so I can use it to make a payment to the loan.

Haven't spent any money yet this month.

I've had a payment go out for our gas and electric at a lower amount than normal I hope its not an extra payment they have taken.

Does anyone know when we can expect to receive the £150 payment off the government for council tax. We are Band c so I assume we qualify.

I need to ask my manager how much holiday I am owed from last year that I'm due to be paid for.

I think our kids break up later than what holiday companies have as half term in October so we might be able to get a cheap few days away. I won't book anything until the debt is cleared and we have built some savings back up.

I need to speak to the gp about being referred for My hernia operation, they were going to do It last year hut I got covid and they refused to operate when they offered me a cancellation and took me off the waiting list.
I also need to sort out our finances ready for this as I'll need some savings to go towards outgoings while I recover as I'll only get ssp.

I'm still hopeful we will be debt free by the time I turn 30.

Work later so better get ready. I'm totally exhausted. I actually gave a shift to a staff member for later on in rhe month as they gave me 6 in a row and there is no way I'd be able to do that.

  • Good afternoon my beautiful diary friends

First day off of 3 days off .. back in at the weekend.

Ordered the part for our broken toilet which wont flush and fixed it ourselves cost £18 and watching a 5 minute Yo*Tube video

Also the upstairs toilet is blocked again 😒 so me and DP are going to sort that now.

Will do a skip run/charity bin drop off  tomorrow will save highering a skip doing skip runs - had a good clear out.

I Need to crack on with my diploma stuff tonight. I think this is the second diploma I've done since starting my diaries. I've also done other additional courses in that time. I want to do more additional courses too. I'd like to work my way up the ladder or possibly go Into another role but same sector in the next few years.

I've booked 4 nights away for October half term. We will be debt free by then, I've paid it in full so nothing else to pay just spending money. I haven't told the kids or partner will be a nice surprise for them.  It was cheap because out half term in October is after England so we didn't have to pay extortionate prices. I'm off for a week in August too but prices were ridiculous so I haven't booked anything for then, we will do some days out instead.

I've got a settlement figure for the loan it's only £15 less than our balance so I'll continue to pay it off bit by bit and then use what we have in savings to clear the remaining balance at the beginning of July.

Car insurance is due next month. I have the money in the car fund for that. I'll do a comparison when my renewal letter comes.

No money really spent the last few days. DP one brother came to visit today.

I'm already getting excited at the prospect of being debt free. But keeping the purse strings extremely tight. I'm not sure if I will take a break from July. Just concentrate on re building our savings. And getting work we have put off that needs to be done around the house. And then from January I'll concentrate on the mortgage. I'd love to get it clear by the time we are 40 like we originally planned but that would only give us ten years. So will probably be looking at 45 - 50 years old. 🤔

Anyway the challenge for now is getting debt free and that is the focus!

  • Tomorrow my only 2 jobs I'm giving myself is too clear some of the clutter in the house and finish my diploma work I've been set.

I also need to figure out a routine once the kids are back to school to allow time to get my diploma work done. 🙃

We are meeting up with the mother in law next week. We are also going to Harry potter World, I brought the tickets for DP birthday last year.

    Wotcha!
I did keep wondering about your hernia, and now I've caught up on your diary, I see it is still being pesky.... Please get yourself to your gp, mumof3, or I shall have to have stern words with you 😎. We coincided way back when, with needing the hernia op, and I had mine done in Jan 2020!
You will be signed off for 2 weeks, minimum, and obviously will need to take it very easy for several more weeks.
Take care, and I hope there's hernia progress soon x

  • Hi @apple_muncher

Ah glad you had it done. I've gone past the point of key hole and will be opened up and put to sleep. 😱 it will be my first and hopefully ever only operation 🙏 I've lost weight but my hernia now looks bigger I don't look like I've lost any weight 😅  the surgeon said previously due to the type of job I do I would be looking at about 12 weeks off and that's if I recover well 😱 the up side is i will use the time to crack on and get  a good chunk of my level 4 done.

Took the kids to see the easter bunny this morning, didn't cost anything the person at the shop by the lake organised it 😀 we went to the park after. Back home how as I have work this afternoon.

Hoping the weather stays nice so we can go to the beach on Tuesday.

The next half term they have off is our camping trip. We Need to check the tent ready for that. And I need to get a roof box / bag as our car is smaller now and we will have the dog with us too 🙈  I think I'm going to order the kids a bag each to pack their stuff in

Happy Easter all.. have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend 😀
