Thanks for lovely comments about my new desk / office space - It really is a pleasure to work in there now - and the bonus is it's easy to keep warm as it's a really small space.
kat360 - sorry to hear that you are going through such a challenging time - so pleased you have joined us.
balabooberlies - Has your laptop started behaving itself? If not, could you try it with a new keyboard - a lot cheaper than a new laptop.
gilly1964 - feel well soon

Balabooberlies, stalling for a bit doesn’t mean you’ve given up. It means you’re conserving your energies until you’re ready to start again.
I pretty much stalled for a few months last year but now have my clutter free office. I have been surprised how much difference being able to close the door on work at the end of the day has made.
So you haven’t stalled. You’re building up to the next stage. It’s not a race, each to their own time and pace.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Feel better soon Gilly x
I actually know someone whose house burned down. She was able to direct the firemen to her box of photographs. She was recently widowed. The house and contents were ruined from fire, smoke and water damage. I suppose my "office" contains everything I should need. It is a cardboard pepper box from Lidl with all paper work in. I have a cull of it when I can't shove any more letters in the front!
Got Mr V to price up cat flaps (Thank you Floss) We would have to have a new double glazed unit in the door, upwards of £200. I did think we could make a hole into the house where the under stairs cupboard is, or maybe just keep being a doorman and have a cat flap at the next house!
Full house cleaned yesterday.

It’s interesting to read that so many of us feel so weighed down by the clutter that we keep with, generally, good intentions. I hate the house being messy (I’m *not* tidy by any stretch of the imagination) and cluttered - it’s such a lot harder to keep straight as a single parent - and it really effects my mental health so getting on top of it will really help.
I had a quick furtle in the freezer when putting the frozen veg away and came across some rather inedible looking UFOs so 4 mystery bags in the bin so that’s 58-61!

Good morning - great work going on decluttering - some inspiring ideas Thankyou.
I forgot all about the charity collection I arranged until they sent me a reminder email that I read this morning at 0730 that they were coming between 10and 12. So I just did what can only be described as a “supermarket sweep style” decluttering of clothes in the loft bedroom wardrobe. I had 3 bags full plus 2 large wicker baskets. I did wonder if they would take it all but they did, so that was the fastest decluttering and leave the house ever!
Need to do some cleaning this afternoon. I’ve stripped the beds opened the windows and on 2nd lot of washing..... I’ve just sat down with a mug of HM soup - I realise it’s not 12 yet but think I need the energy and trying to keep off the tea and biscuits!12 -
Morning all, seems some socially distanced hugs are in order to those feeling down, feeling poorly or having a hard time lately. Hugs I can declutter easilyTalking of keeping all your paperwork in a box , I have a really old metal biscuit tin ( at least 40yrs old) for such as birth, marriage etc then if I ever have a fire at least hopefully it will stand a chance of coming out unscathed. Most of our photos are now online so grabbing the laptop/ dongo thingy would be a must too. But would you have the time to do either ? Hopefully we will never find out. Sorry on the waffling wagon again !Kat Hi ! well done on decluttering your DH, a job well done by the sounds of it and top marks for going above and beyond. Everyone is lovely and supportive on here, hope you stay a while.Today most of my decluttering has been from my purse/ bank account, I've paid the TV licence
. I've also decluttered almost the last of the mince pies from the freezer, just 2 left now.
MrsSD apologies as no cake made yet but I will send you some when I get my act together. I seem to be procrastinating a lot lately. Oh! and I've hidden the walnuts out of sightLove to allnanFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently11 -
@vulpix I don't know if it will help but because of the cost of having a catflap put in the door we had one put in the small window unit of our dining room window. Cat comes and goes via garden storage unit.9

127-129: bag of rubbish, box of paper/card and bin of mixed materials to recycling.
130-133: remains of food items binned.
134: label remover used on 6 items so they can be sold or filed or whatever. One of those jobs it's worth batching.
Not been awfully effective this week, my decluttering mojo waxes and wanes. Glad to see everyone doing so well.

Afternoon,
Check to self what day and date it is to start, doesn't say a lot for my brain. I have been at the paperwork for an hour, I think I'm done/lost interest with it now as all too much. Very pleased with what I have done and compared to what it was is condensed at least.
Decluttered lots of cards and just kept my favourites. Sewing repairs done. Plus one cleaning my car and in exchanged I have moved and cleaned under the furniture as a previous bachelor pad I don't think it's been done for 6/7 years if old lottery ticket dates are anything to go by 😂
Nothing much else out today, no recycling or rubbish as not cooked, just reheated meals.
