Evening MrsSD and fellow declutterers, well the wardrobe decluttering has gone well for both me and my daughter. Here is what has been decluttered.
My daughter - 2 pairs of pyjamas, 2 pairs of shorts, 3 pairs of shoes, 2 dresses, 5 pairs of tights, 6 leggings (majority of them worn out in the crotch area, she has kept another pair for arts and crafts and has made a bowtie out of the fabric!) 4 t shirts, 19 pairs of knickers (outgrown), 10 vests, 3 coats, 5 jumpers.
All my daughter's decluttering has gone to the recycling centre, two big bags.
Me - 4 pairs of underpants, 10 odd socks (bizarre but true), 1 pair of trousers, a belt, 1 suit bag worse for wear, 2 blazers (slightly short on arms), 8 ties (not worn one for a lot of years), 4 work shirts (worn out), 5 tops, 6 t-shirts, 2 shorts.
Add to that 2 pairs of trousers (my wife's which were next to the bin). My stuff is bagged up (one and a bit bags). Most of this will go for recycling. Some items will go to charity shop when they are open.
My advice before doing a task like this is to eat plenty and drink plenty of fluid 😉 we had a roast dinner at lunchtime before starting the task and that helped keep us going. One tie I found on the decluttering is a monty python tie with a character called 'Gumby'. On the tie,are the words 'My brain hurts' (repeated across the tie). Feeling like that now 🙂 and still to wash up. But a big step forward in decluttering. A task long overdue. Cheers 🙂12 -

This weekend has been lovely for decluttering
A kettle (£30 gained)
Three bowls (all chipped).
Ingredients from the fridge used up for home made pizza.
I've also sorted out more cupboards so there's only a couple still in use.
Charity bag is half full with clothes.
Next week they'll be a skip full of things (hopefully anyway) xSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330
Starting afresh.
You can do anything if you put your mind to it. x12 -
I managed a bit of a sort out today. Went through three bedroom drawers and unboxed birthday and Christmas presents. Feels good to have space in at least some of the drawers of doom at last! Have also found a few useful bits while I was at it.20-39: Bits of rammel out of the drawers - mainly hair, face and body stuff.
40-43: gift sets unboxed and packaging recycled
44-46: packaging from presents
47-50: 4 pairs of cheesewire knickers that I hate wearing.
I think I’d like to up my target to 2 items per day so will change my target to 730 so I’m on 50/730.Grocery challenge:December 2022 £151.96/£400 . Advent decluttering challenge 47/240.13 -
Day 17 of the Minimalists Challenge and today I am mostly counting the fleabay sales that ended today - 15 items, albeit 13 in one lot! - plus a very solid dolls house my dad made for me when I was little to a good home where it will be well used, and yet more marmalade.
153/465
I may also have convinced DH of the usefulness of "cash for clutter" (thank you Mrs SD!) as he is going to sort out his cds for sale as well.
My next major source of numbers is a large box of scarves but I can't think what to do with them. I've also realised after my first fleabay experience for years that I need to take advantage of the £1 fees offers when they come up so I may just be sorting things into a large fleabay box until the next opportunity comes up.
I am finding this thread incredibly motivating and all of the company very helpful. Go us!13 -
Wow, everyone is doing so well! I've finally made it through all the pages of the thread and got some ideas from others - thank you. So I can add to my week 3 total.
Week 3 11-17/1 - a large bag of games / toys, that my children have grown out of, given to after school club. 5 ood prescriptions taken to chemist for them to get rid of safely - these have been lurking in the kitchen since we cleared out the medicine cupboard.
Decluttering target:
Beauty product - 11/52, last item - bubble bath used while I shaved legs, 2 conditioners sachets from used hair dye boxes
Play room - 41/52, last item -
Clothes - 23/52, last item -
Food - 13/52, last item -12 -
1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING
3. CLEAN ONE ROOM (TOP TO BOTTOM) EVERY MONTH (hopefully 3 weekly by the end of the year)Sunday has been a bright sunny day & slightly warmer than of late 🙂 I was up very early for me - 8:30 a.m. 😱 Rather wasted as I then nodded off after drinking my tea 😞 Anyway, finally woke up properly a couple of hours later & put the kettle on 😛 for coffee. Watched some TV - more programmes off the planner 👏
Earnest turned up to assist me in tracking down a couple of bottles of foaming hand wash - he failed BUT it meant that when I went into the understairs cupboard I found some kitchen rolls (so deleted off shopping list 👏🙂), 8 non branded toilet rolls (now 58 rolls on my new shelf 😉) & 4 pot noodles (for DH) relocated to kitchen. Next target was the wall unit & the 16 ‘open’ cubbyholes. Nine were fine - no sorting needed. Of the 7 remaining cubbyholes I managed to tidy up enough to create some space in 4 of them 🙂 Managed to condense various tablets/pills so got rid of packaging, relocated a couple of smallish boxes to my ‘packaging’ corner, found some XMas cards that hadn’t been displayed + a small bag of detritus. Lunch was hm soup 😋 Dinner was Chinese takeaway - very disappointing so not really looking forward to tomorrow night’s dinner ☹️ (Takeaways always stretch to 2 nights dinners)
One very lovely occurrence today - I was outside having a cigarette when ‘awkward’ neighbour approached with a paper plate 🧐. Anyway, he thanked me for the hm tomato chutney which he & his mum had thoroughly enjoyed & then handed over the plate which had hm Scottish Tablet on it - but Tablet on a biscuit base 😋 😋 😋 Made my day 🙂👏
135 - 141 Card packaging, kitchen recycling, Christmas cards, air pocket packaging, drinks cans, large cardboard box, travel brochure - recycled
142 - 145 Kitchen detritus, wall unit detritus, broken F*tb*t & exercise band - Binned
146 Paperback into CS bagYou are very welcome ScarletRibbons 🙂Great work tryingtoavoiddebt 👏Good work pamsdish 👏 That is a proper stock of toilet rolls 😉 & if not resorting to the black market 😉 you were in a position to help out friends & neighbours 😉 Excellent work re the plastics - I am sure they breed 😛I approve lynnsey30 😉👏 I would far rather look at a baby than declutter 😉😉 I bet you cannot wait to give your new grandson lots of cuddles 🥰 , not forgetting hugs for your granddaughter 🤗Excellent work retiredinfrance 👏 It makes me very happy that there is so much successful decluttering taking place 🙂 Joint decluttering - I love it 😻 so one medal 🏅 on its way to you & DH 👏 Your DH is obviously noticing a difference 😉 (page 44 = 75 🙂)Great work Lover_of_Lycra 👏 and 1/3 of your listed aims completed so one Gold Star ⭐️ is on its way 🙂I will be back later when iPad is charged 😱 Which is great because I am watching The Great Pottery Throwdown.MrsSD 🏅Decluttering Target: 2021 146/2021Savings Pot:Be Kind.
