Oh Elsein what a pain.
Bit by bit it sounds like you have had a light bulb moment. I can identify with some of your points too. I had my light bulb moment about 8 years ago.
In our last house the loft was boarded and contained several thousand single records from Mr V's days as a mobile DJ. I used to lie in bed and feel oppressed by the thought that they were there. He had a light bulb moment ,probably at the thought of moving them all to yet another house. He said he made a good living from them and he would never use them again so off they went in a large van to the local hospice shop.
I can't say I have been a hoarder but have in the past been a maximalist. I enjoy a much less cluttered environment now. I thought the house was pretty much moving ready as we went through the contents last year with the expectation of putting it on the market. As I am going through again I am finding more stuff to go. Perhaps I am enjoying the thought of not having to be the caretaker of stuff I don't need.
Today I did the airing cupboard and Mr V had a poke about in his shed.
27. DVD player
28 &29. power supplies
30,31,32 electric toothbrush chargers all to electrical recycling at the tip.
33,34 old medicines taken to the chemist
35-40 unused toiletry items to local food bank
A bag of stuff put in the loft for when we can do a boot sale, a bag for the charity shop and a bag of rags for the tip.
tomorrow possibly the opposite corner cupboard in the kitchen.

Elsien - that's terrible. I felt my stomach churn in sympathy. Hope it can be sorted.

Good grief, but this thread moves! Well done Mrs SD on keeping up with the cheerleading. Have a medal!I've not managed to post for a while, but I have managed to keep up with the one declutter action per day. These were:6 January - 12th Night clear upChristmas actually got put away! This is a first for me. I usually take down the tree then the rest gets done in dribs and drabs throughout January. PLUS I consolidated the storage boxes and completely emptied 2, freeing them up for other uses.Shan't list individual items, but they included Advent Calendars, Tree decs and loads of tinsel, candles, lights, party poppers, tableware etc43 items added to 83 = 1267 January - General clear upA slow day, so I'll list my *cough* achievements127-130 - Birthday presents wrapped and posted131 - Cardboard box132-133 - Bags of recycling134-140 - assorted Christmas tea towels washed and put away.14 items added to 126 = 1408 January - General Living Room DeclutterChristmas outliers and decanting rabbit food to ex because that's where the rabbit's locked down! Potential re-gifts etc identified and put into 1 box.PLUS I sorted out my craft trolley. Oh how I miss the hair-raised emoji! How on earth did I acquire 92 balls of yarn?! Still, all now sorted and put away in labelled boxes, ready for use.135 items added to 140 = 2759 January - Top Drawer cleared & reorganisedThere's a 3 drawer unit in the living room. The bottom drawer's not long since been done, but the other 2 haven't. I'm doing them on separate days. This one's been a general bits and pieces/before bed dumping ground. Again, too much to itemise separately, but it included blusher, hair bobbles, ear plugs, painkillers, sunglasses, phone chargers, deodorant, batteries etc. Now keeping stuff we regularly use - command hooks, matches etc. All neatly corralled in old plastic trays40 items in all40 items added to 275 = 31510 January - Middle Drawer cleared & reorganisedMostly clothing, all of which was removed either to charity or to where my stuff is now stored. The drawer's now used to store my stationery, planners and phone chargers. As these were cluttering up a part of my bedroom, I've included them in the total of 29 items in all29 items added to 315 = 34411 January - General Declutter345 - chipped glass sugar bowl, recycled346 - emergency beacon, to car347 - dead credit card, binned348 - dead NTS card, binned349 - 2020 diary, reycled350-1 - 2 brooms, returned to cupboard352 - cotton wool roll, to supplies353 - book, put with DD's stuffI also noticed the hoover wasn't working properly and gave it an overhaul, which doesn't count for anything except an excuse for not doing any more decluttering! rofl9 items in all9 items added to 344 = 35312 January - General Tidy of Verandah (1st of many...)354-5 - 2 bags to hot composter356-8 - seed trays359-60 - plant pots361- plastic tray362-73 - twigs from dogwood374-8 - strawberry runners that didn't survive to frost (to composter)When I cleaned the living room window I noticed, to my amusement (I know, I'm warped!) the cartoonish outline of a pigeon. It had obviously splattered into the window. (Shouldn't laugh, but they've been a plague and it did look comical). Tidying stuff up today, down the back of a large plant pot was...379 - a dead pigeon. (Which, even if they are a plague was definitely NOT funny)And that's about it.Except, I feel I owe Mrs SD an apology for not being able to equal last year's tree disposal story. This one was perfectly well-behaved, a veritable prince amongst evergreens, and we were sorry to see it go. Pity, People could do with a laugh...A budget is like a speed sign - a LIMIT not a TARGET!!

Good work EnergyShifter 👏Excellent work vulpix 👏. I do love the idea of being a Maximalist 😉 so much nicer than being a hoarder 😉😉 You are officially a Declutterer 🍾 going through your items again & finding more to declutter 👏Great work StickyTheStickInsect 👏 finding time & energy to declutter even though homeschooling 🙂Thank you for my medal basketcase 👏 (No apology needed - very nice to have a ‘Prince among evergreens’ - a good news story 🙂 Although I did read back on the 2020 thread p47 & p50 - it really was a ‘demon Christmas tree’ 😉)
Great work on the decluttering & a lovely way to record & report 👏🙂
🤢 re the dead pigeon. We are luckier, in our garden a dead pigeon rarely lasts long - we usually only see a few odd feathers rather than a dead bird 👏😉MrsSD 🏅Decluttering Target: 2021 99/2021Savings Pot:Be Kind. I was interested to read other posters' talking about family unloading stuff on to them, my parents were like this - once my mother was arranging a van to bring a sideboard over to us, without asking first if we wanted it, and she was very put out when I told her we had no room for it, she suggested that we put it behind the sofa! fat lot of good it was going to be there! They also tried to push off an upright piano on to my sister, who had no room for it and had never expressed a desire for a piano!Strange isn't it - they would also take on anyone else's old stuff then complain that they didn't like/want/use it but hadn't liked to say no.Odd outlook on life some people have!13

Morning Peeps,
I have finally got to an end of such of posts. Wow well done every one. I have already picked up a couple of ideas for moving forward. I am going to write a list of what I have done not what I need to do, that will always bring success. I did wash up last night albeit not after tea but was all done before end of night, left tidy before bed. Looked nice this morning
I wont be counting items, I am however very happy in getting stuff moved and out of the house. i have this week watched the minimalist and checked out the Kondo way, not for me but I am ok with that I am not deterred. Been here 5 years now and am semi retired now and its still ongoing. We did move a 4 bed into a 2 bed. I always will throw an item a day and if I enter the loft my rule is something has always to come down. We recently purchased an ex display wardrobe which has been reduced to fit into a bedroom looks lovely. left over items will be used for loft craft space, DH workshop/shed extra cupboards and the other waste/clutter from it will warm on our multi fuel burners. Clothes however I am struggling to get rid of, timeless items which could still be worn and no one be non the wiser. (I am no fashionista) Think I need to do some declutter on me too!!
Keep on keeping on for 21.

Cue very long protracted argument between me and the manager who felt that the person was being completely ungrateful and should just go along with it, until the manager finally agreed to take it away again. Just glad I was there or the person would have been steamrollered into accepting it.
As you say, some people. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.11
