bit_by_bit said:This weekend has been fruitfully spent. Friday I went to the allotment and sorted the second part of the shed. I have some many plastic bottles that 'I might' use that I am overwhelmed. I am bagging some up for the recycling next week but I will have a system in place to store used plastics and the rest will go at the end of the year.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

What a lot of fantastic effort from everyone. I haven't done much as I have a cold. Where from I don't know as I hardly venture out and always with a mask, hand sanitising and washing.
My house looks bare without Christmas decorations up so I will excavate a very well packed corner cupboard in the kitchen for a vase and some faux flowers. Some of the contents are wrapped and boxed as we thought we would relocate last year but the job opportunity fell through. With hindsight not too much of a bad thing.
Today I will also excavate the airing cupboard. It contains not as you would expect linens but everything for the charity shop, Car boot and all my shoes in boxes. I managed to send all my spare linen off as each child left home. Each bed is now strictly wash and remade. I only have 2 pairs of spare curtains too which I was saving for a house move. I love 1 pair so much but they don't fit any of the windows here! As for shoes, I love them all and if we ever get to go on a holiday or cruise again or even go out again they will be used. Now Mr V has retired there is no opportunity for dressing up functions as there used to be. We both have a part time retirement job at the same place but it is outside so outdoor gear and walking boots are more in order.
20. messenger bag
21. thermal top, too small
22.unoppened leather clean and feed for a sofa we gave away last year.
I feel uncomfortable listing things for sale on FB at the moment as I don't want to encourage people to travel. I gave up with ebay years ago as it is too much of a faff.

Lynnsey30 here's a special hug for you. Congrats on the new grandbaby though.Today I'm going to tackle a floor to ceiling cupboard ( was a deep built in wardrobe ) in the office, if I can find some motivation. I've been through it before but couldn't persuade DH to let go of anything, grrr ! It's mostly his stuff and our walking gear, so I'm going to have another try.All recycling out today and the cardboard bag is choc-a-block, also out the household waste bin, but that's nowhere near full. Perhaps I might find something in the cupboard to top it up ?Hugs to those in need. nanFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently13

Given bathroom/wet room a good clean, floor to ceiling tiled, the flash mop whips over the tiles and slips under the water pipes, bought a new toilet seat before Christmas, it`s removable, so popped off and washed, and all round the fittings, how does it get so grotty ?, new trolley ordered for all the bits and bobs, just hope it fits in the gap, so in with that and will F/B free the glass one, never liked it.
Re-cycling today and general waste, plastics bag quite full, it`s my tonic water bottles as I don`t use milk, drink that through the night, the quinine helps my restless legs, glass box out too, the general waste was mostly the bag of wellies I had decluttered before Christmas but no room in the bin.Do I need it or just want it.11 -
1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING
3. CLEAN ONE ROOM (TOP TO BOTTOM) EVERY MONTH (hopefully 3 weekly by the end of the year)Yet another 🥶 day but also dark & dreary 🙁 the sort of day that sucks the energy right out of you 🙁 I was up by 10:00 a.m. about 10 minutes after DH 🙂 I have finished knitting another beanie & am just about to start another one 😉 DH is just about to start several small tasks - sealing round the cloakroom window to stop the draught; gluing a bit of coving; gluing a decorative panel back onto the outside of the bath. Forgot to mention that DH swapped out the toilet seat in the bathroom.87 Manky old toilet seat in Tip bagGreat work TC77 👏 I like the idea of including tasks & chores that once completed contribute to decluttering physical, mental & emotional clutter 🏅
Keep up the good work moneyonmymindsam 👏
Great decluttering of your wool stash, lynnsey30 👏 Congratulations on your grandchild 🥳 but really sorry that your DD2 didn’t send you separate notification ☹️ and as she appears to be ignoring your texts & calls it must be very worrying 🙁 Is there an OH you could contact? It may be something as mundane as no charge on phone 🤞Er yes, KatyLovesCats - moving items from fridge to freezer is decluttering & can be counted 🙂 You are decluttering the risk of wasted food 😉Thanks for the allotment info Floss 👏
Great work vulpix 👏 Re the curtains you love - are they too big, can they be altered to fit? If too small, you can give yourself permission to keep them - after all you might still move in the future 🙂 The idea of decluttering is to make yourself happier, it is not designed to stress you out by getting rid of absolutely everything 😉 You have something to look forward to when life returns to some semblance of normal - dressing up & going out 🙂 or perhaps dressing up & staying in 😉nannywindow, perhaps you could hide a couple/few bits & see if DH notices 😉😉. Or the wicked thing to do, would be to stack items in such a way that they topple over when you ask him to fetch something from the cupboard 🦹😉😉

Slowly emptying freezer by eating the homemade soup and ready meal portions - a win win as I'm not needing to cook or shop which is giving me more energy to declutter, and the freezer will soon be empty enough to defrost and clean.
Finally taken decs off Christmas tree this morning. So sad, but it's time to move on to looking forward to the spring.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅11 -

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.10 -
Lots of decluttering in the kitchen, lots of out of date food binned. Been through our wardrobe and drawers, lots of clothes put on feetbook, duvet cover charity bag, holey socks into rag bag. Lots of present bags put on Feetbook as well. Several well read books put on local sustainable site.
