2021 MISSION DECLUTTER and CLEAN

Day 10 of the Minimalists Challenge - very mundane, I've put a box together for Music Magpie. Admittedly some of these things were already in the CS bag (my appointment to drop this off has been cancelled so I'm looking to reduce the amount of space it's taking up) but there were enough new ones to make up 10 items, books & dvds, plus chucked 3 items from the dolls house furniture box.
Have listed some more stuff on fleabay for later in the month! Strategy!12 -
Yesterday marked a breakthrough with DS. He’s never been good at letting go of things so we had a chat about taking things to charity shops and how they can sell our things to raise money if they are in good condition. We managed to declutter his wardrobe of 44 items that are too small and a handful of odd socks. So a bag ready for CS when it opens and some ready to go to the recycling bin at nursery. It’s all been tidied and folded and we now much more space in his small room. Just the toys and other clutter to sort next.
I’ve also cleaned out DH’s sock drawer. He’s always wearing socks with holes or socks that are no longer white and just look dirty. Another load of odd socks to add to my total.
Not really focussed much on any other decluttering this week but I have kept kitchen tidy and ironing up to date which is a massive thing for me! Now off the plan the homeschooling for DS and work out a plan for my uni course I started today.
Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend xx

ScarletRibbons said:Black_Saturn said:ScarletRibbons, I purchased what is called ‘fruit & veg saver discs‘ from off of Amazon. Going by memory, I believe it cost six pounds for three discs, and they have helped to keep fruit in the basket, for longer, and my salad produce in the fridge, also the same.114/2021 for 2021 OS declutter - have even been awarded 1x 🏅medal14

52. Laptop bag on wheels to charity shop box
Why have i had that wasting space?
I seem to have " invisible" clutter, i walk past it and around it and dont see it 🤔
I havent worked in corporate world for 4 years..no.plans to again. It never worked for my needs anyway. Its just sat there next to my shredder all that time
Why ? 😫13 -

Found a new clothes recycling bank at local primary school. Yes. Clothes from above taken there. Result. Less things hanging around until after lockdown, whenever that may be.!!
Thanks for the inspiration folks.14 -
A few bits of decluttering done, I'm also taking part in the frugal challenge so have been eating through surplus food in the cupboards to try and clear some space.
We have also finally bought 2 shoe racks, one for downstairs so there is no longer a pile of shoes by the front door, so that area looks much less cluttered! I have also taken my shoe collection out of their boxes - I have a small irregular choice shoe collection and have been wanting to display them out of their boxes, and now it is done
I am also working my way through my large collection of toiletries and have avoided any Christmas sales - which was helped with lockdown, about the only slight positive.

88. book for CS
@gettingthrifty - I agree it's a weird phenomena how we stop seeing things after a while .
@Foofoopuppy - I love "irregular choice" shoes - they have so many lovely details... enjoy your display.

Went through a couple of drawers.
5 scarves, a bag of necklaces I’m never going to wear, a pair of gloves for the chazza.
Two computer mouses for the tip. Old soap dish binned.
3 bags of paper to the paper bank. And of course a bin bag full of bags! Not a huge amount, and I’ve still got a stack of tinned food looking at me from the kitchen counter, but better than nothing. And I’ve rearranged one cupboard so that its contents don’t jump on my head each time I open the door.
And it has taken me a ridiculous amount of time to both check car insurance quotes, and find a birthday present for parent when most of the shops are shut. Not being organised enough to do online delivery in time, obviously.Still, when it’s written down, at least I’ve done something. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.13 -
1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING
3. CLEAN ONE ROOM (TOP TO BOTTOM) EVERY MONTH (hopefully 3 weekly by the end of the year)Sunday has been 🥶 but dry. I was up at 9:30 a.m. full of the joys of spring NOT 😉 Many mugs of tea/coffee & have cleared down even more programmes from TV planner + started knitting another beanie. DSis has been in her room all day apart from visits to the kitchen. DH got up extremely late (2:30 p.m. 😱) We are both in a bit of a slump ☹️ knowing we have plenty to do but somehow not managing to summon up any enthusiasm for anything 😢☹️ Needless to say the small oven has not been cleaned 😞About 4 p.m. Earnest (the cleaner) arrived 🥳 - the downstairs cloakroom is being cleaned from ceiling to floor - emptied; cobwebs removed from ceiling & corners; light shade dusted & washed; walls wiped down; window, frame & sill washed down; floor swept; skirting boards, door frame & door washed down; outside of toilet & sink scrubbed clean; descaled the taps & round the taps; scrubbed the toilet & washed the floor.Tomorrow DH will be putting up a shelf + replacing toilet seat & putting up an amusing picture (liberated from France - showing my uncle meeting Prince Charles) (I will be the gopher 😉) DH is cooking cheesy pasta for tonight’s dinner 👏
82 - 84 Uu toilet cleaner bottle, kitchen recycling, Uu deodorant can - recycled
85 - 86 Lr detritus, kitchen detritus- binned
Excellent work ClaireT13 👏 A well thought out plan & congratulations with having success in following Marie Kondo 👏 As long as you know & can acknowledge your successes, you are onto a winner 🙂
Brilliant work Viking_mfw 👏 I am so impressed 🙂 and look at that - 9 days in & 45 items out 🥳 Please do not lose heart - you are almost a third of the way through 👏 & I am happy to continue cheerleading 😉
Nicnak, depending on the size probably 40-50 bags 😉 Re the counting - I would count EVERYTHING that goes out including the items being replaced 😉EnergyShifter, thanks for the idea about going for a walk to lift my mood 👏 Hopefully it will be as successful for me as it has been for you 🤞Well done on working out that it was your office chair causing your back problems 👏 & even better that you didn’t have to spend any money to ameliorate the situation 🥳 very MSE 👏Dinner is ready so I will be back later 😉MrsSDDecluttering Target: 2021 86/2021Savings Pot:Be Kind.
