Thank you for the welcome and also the ideas about how to start the decluttering journey.
I've broken up from work for 2 weeks, so in celebration I've put the rubbish out and done the washing up and met my daily target

I would like to join, the clutter has now got to the point where I want to move out and leave it all. We are over run with toys, clothes, paperwork and general house stuff. The house has hardly any storage and I don't see the point in buying some just to put said stuff in that I really don't want to keep.16

Thriftygifty one of the principles of marie kondo is not to buy storage, if you sort and get rid of stuff and put like with like you should end up with spaces for what you are keeping. I certainly did and even got rid of loads of storage boxes and cupboards! !
It's at least 5 years? Since I used it to clear the clutter, and it's stayed clear. I come o these boards now to keep me in check and see what other tips I can pick up!😊Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.18 -

I can't wait for Christmas to be over,we have decided to have a no spend January. That will be difficult for us.Mr V buys countless bits of wire off the internet and I buy clothes and shoes.Mostly second hand but still.I wouldn't mind but we haven't been able to go anywhere this year and I wear scruffs at home.I have clothes in sizes 12,14,16 and 18 so I should be ok for when I loose weight! When stuff becomes too big I will donate or sell.
As part of the no spend January we will use up food stores.Mr V and I both had stomach operations in October which means we can't eat as much as we used to! I keep buying the same amounts of food though! The kitchen cupboards are bursting.
We have also decided to get the house valued with the possibility of moving.I would like a bungalow but they are like hens' teeth in the National Park, and very expensive.
We will also have a sales drive of unwanted stuff. I hope we will be able to do a car boot sale next year.My airing cupboard is full of stuff in waiting.Ok for £1 at a car boot but not worth the effort on FB marketplace.
Apart from a garden tidy and a new barge board outside, the house should be good to go if we decide to sell.
Any money saved/earned will go towards a new car.
Can't wait !

Hello Mrs SD & co. 👋 I've been happily lurking 💕 on your 2020 thread & getting inspired by all your amazing efforts. Over the past year, I've developed some good tidying habits and routines & OH has even taken over emptying the dishwasher daily & clearing off the counters after he cooks (simply by osmosis!🤗) So we will be starting from a good place rather than complete overwhelm that we would have at the beginning of last year.
Our house is not particularly cluttered, but there are corners & cupboards that could use a really good tidy/sort and some storage boxes I'd like to have a rummage through during 2021. We have no built in storage in our very old house, so I would like to purchase some bookshelves and chest of drawers to get our stored items out in the open where we can enjoy them.
Rather than set clearing out goals for the year, I may just pop on with the occasional ta-da list & do a bit of a running tally - much less pressure for me than a set number 🤣 which I would fail at miserably!

Welcome aboard Thriftygifty 👋 Sounds familiar - not knowing where to start ☹️😉
Excellent suggestions from wort especially relevant as they worked 🙂
Wort, lovely to ‘meet’ someone who has successfully decluttered 👏🙂 Thank you for reminding us that once we have done the major declutter, we need to maintain our good habits to avoid clutter creeping back in 👏 As a successful declutterer, I think all of us would appreciate any tips/advice you can offer, as to how we can join you in the ‘Clutter Free Club’
Welcome back TC77 👋 I have noted your target & seeing your list of tasks, I have every faith that you will succeed 👏
Exciting times ahead vulpix 😉 Your enthusiasm is fantastic & will be fuelled with every successful completion of each planned activity 🙂
Now, now makingmehappy (wagging finger emoji) You CAN face sorting out your new ‘full’ storage boxes 😉 one box at a time. Don’t forget to label the box 😉 Can you enlist other members of your family to help - after all I doubt very much that all the contents are yours.Thank you for coming out of lurkdom rtandon27 👏 and welcome aboard 👋 Well done on developing good tidying habits & routines 👏👏 I look forward to reading your ‘ta-dad’ 🙂
Welcome back Happy_Kitties 👋 Targets noted & looking forwarding to awarding stars 😉
See you all later
