Oh bit_by_bit that really did make me smile 😃 I have visions of all your clutter moving to one end of your house & you moving backwards & forwards (like the classic version of The Italian Job) trying to keep the house level 😂

Please can I join the happy band of people who are decluttering?
I've lived in this house for 30 years in 2021 and have accumulated a whole load of stuff that just takes up nearly every part of the house!
I need to sort out electricians, plumbers and decorators, but at the moment they wouldn't be able to fit in to do any workI've also got a bedroom that was supposed to be used as a craft room (cough) that is full to overflowing, a loft that needs the roof lifting off to get the stuff out, loads of clothes that I'll never wear, and what seems like thousands of books that I don't seem to be able to part with!
I also need to declutter about 2 stone in weight and stop procrastinating every time something needs to be done. I won't be counting things that go because that would take up too much time (with any luck)
I Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.
happiness isn't achieved by getting extra things,
but by getting rid of the things that make you unhappy19 -
Can I join up for another year please? I'm still lumbering on but things are definitely clearer than they were a year ago.Magnolia Stellata18

Hi
Can I join this challenge. I’ve a large storage cupboard that needs to be decluttered. Also I’ve a lot of paper work to declutter.

Made an unintentional start, doing my normal morning tidy of the kitchen, my eye fell upon my old wellies, in a plastic bag ready to be consigned to the "emergency" outside box, bought new as those were a trifle short, on opening the box, 8 other "emergency" wellies available, some worn slippy on the sole, some with cracks and splits, consigned 5 pair to the bin, kept the fur lined in case of hard winter and 2 others, can`t bring myself to not have a back up, problem now is bin is 3/4 full of wellies and an old toilet seat I replaced last week, think next collection about 29th.Do I need it or just want it.18

Welcome aboard the Decluttering Charabanc, Chrystal 👋 I like your description “the happy band of people who are decluttering” - generally speaking we are quite happy 😃😉. Sounds like a mountain to climb BUT once you start it WILL get easier & easier. First order of business is to create ‘a haven’ - a clear space that you can retire to. It could be a corner of your bedroom - completely decluttered with a chair & small table. You can retire there, have a cuppa, read a book or do some knitting & completely forget about your new hobby of decluttering 😉 My next suggestion would be to pick the least cluttered room (possibly the bathroom?) - bag up all the actual rubbish & place in outside rubbish/wheelie bin immediately 😉 Then go from there - pick a corner, work solely on that corner - tidying, decanting, cleaning. Please remember that it has taken 30 years for the clutter to build up so although it will NOT take 30 years to declutter, it will not be done in a weekend 😉😉
🤞I haven’t discouraged you - after all you have taken the biggest step already - You have decided to declutter 👏👏👏 You are now a declutterer 😃😃
Nice to see you stellata 👋 You must be so happy that you are starting to see the fruits of your labour - clearer rooms, empty spaces, less clutter 👏👏
Welcome aboard Money_Choices 👋 Seeing as I am dispensing pearls of wisdom 😛 - re the paperwork - pick up once & deal with it - shred, recycle or file. No need to sort the file yet 😉
Nice to see you pamsdish 👋 What a great start to your 2021 decluttering - unintentional though it was 🙂🙂 Looks like 2021 will be your year 🙂
See you later

I'd like to join the challenge please. We are hoping to move sometime next year and will probably end up in a smaller house.
I also need to keep on top of the paperwork. My father died recently and I've spent days going through his papers and am still struggling so don't want to leave a similar mess for my DDs17 -
Please count me in again, Mrs SD. I don't think I can do 2021 items this time around so I'll set a (hopefully interim) target of 1000 items
Having shed 2 1/2 stone in 2020, I'd like to get rid of another 2 stone in 2021 - that's much harder than getting rid of 'stuff, though!I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £2016
