dND said:Hi Pamsdish, Another Boxing Day baby here
Big birthday for me too - I finally get my pension although I'm not going to feel sure until it's actually in my bank account as I've had so many start dates for it, (4 in fact!).
So have a wonderful birthday never the less and stay safe. Because I found my birthday overshadowed by Christmas and the dreaded 'joint present', plus having to wait 364 days for another present, I used to celebrate my half-birthday, 26th June. Maybe have your big bash then?dND
My son was born New Years Day, my daughter 3rd Jan, did try for a different date, so as, like you it was the "one good present" all my life, lucky if people even remembered a card, I was very sharp if any one mentioned 1 present, but they too suffered peoples memories, we always bought them a good present in the summer, new bike or similar.
@dND hope you have a lovely Christmas and a fabulous "special" birthday, or do the best we can in these extraordinary times, extending this to all. xxxDo I need it or just want it.16 -
Hello, @Mrs_Salad_Dodger another former de-clutterer asking for permission to come back on board, please!
I fell off the wagon, but I'm trying to get back on before the end of the year, so that I'm ready to begin in 2021. In the last few months, we've had workmen installing new fitted wardrobes in 2 bedrooms, decorating them both, new bedroom and bathroom doors, and I've started a new job (too many hours for me, so a few being decluttered from January!), so I'm not surprised I've not enough spoons left for anything else!!
However, I have managed to give away (rather than chuck) the kids' bunk beds to someone in desperate need, DS' old xbox to a friend for her grandson (£40), and there are 6 black bags of general rubbish and 2 old mattresses in the car ready for a tip trip tomorrow.
See you all on the charabanc!
A xo

Hi All,
I’m a long time lurker looking to join.I’m at terrible procrastinator so l let things get out of hand, and then I get really stressed about the mess (it’s a vicious circle) Looking to declutter some stuff this year but really manage to stay on top of everything. Ive two kids who hate to bin anything. We’re putting an extension on in 2021 so I need to be organised as the garage is coming down and I’d like to get rid of as much of the stuff as I can instead of buying a bigger shed!
Think I’ll try to declutter 500 things this year as well as some weight. Like everyone else I’ve struggled thro lockdown.
Good luck everyone!20 -
I like it dND 😉 Perhaps you should rename the June birthday as your “official” birthday - you can have 2 birthdays like the Queen 😉 as can pamsdish 😉 Fingers, toes & eyes crossed 🤞 that your pension arrives 🤞Maybe a mini celebration - a cup of tea & a cream cake 😉
boultdj, let us know if you need rescuing from the furry 🤭
2020 - the year keeps giving or should that be the year that keeps taking 😖 I hope that you were refunded fully in cash rather than vouchers 🤞 Vietnam looks beautiful - I have been watching Monkey Life on Sky Nature & the Monkey World director opened a sanctuary in Vietnam so there have been several special programmes. Hopefully 2021 will be a complete success on the travel front 🙂
Cheapskate, no permission needed 😉 Don’t forget that once you were aboard the 2020 Bandwagon there was no getting off 😉😂 - you were just getting ready to transfer to the 2021 Charabanc/s. Building up the skills & determination to make your 2021 an extremely successful decluttering year 👏 Mind you, I have to say that you haven’t exactly been slacking in the decluttering & decorating spdepartment 🙂 So welcome aboard & I look forward to reading about all your successes 🙂Absolutely lovely to see you tryingtoavoiddebt 👋 Lurkdom is not as friendly as being aboard a Bandwagon or Charabanc 😉 I have noted your two targets - 500 items & lose some weight. So everyone, let us raise a glass or two to a successful year of decluttering, decorating, dieting & dusting 😉

Can I join please Mrs SD I started lockdown in March with good intentions and can now park the car in the garage and have a empty loft unfortunately the 8 bags for life to go to charity are still cluttering up the small bedroom 🙄
I'm working from home but we've been really busy working lots of extra hours and seeing as it looks like we wouldn't be back in the office anytime soon I would like to reclaim my dining room table and move work into the small bedroom which is also further away from the kitchen. After 15 years in this house I have expanded to fill the house and I'm another who's crafting supplies are now at the SABLE stage 😬 and we wouldn't mention the books or my clothes which are of various sizes
Boultdj is it possible she is tasting you first before biting 😼

Hello peoples :-)
I'm joining in for 2021 again. I didn't get on as much this year with one thing and another, mainly exhaustion and not being 100% myself with the whole covid/shielding situation. And stressed once I started back to work in school.
I did get a load of de-clutttering down during lockdown in March - August. Once I started back to work I came to a stop.
We're allegedly on a 6 week lockdown again come boxing day, but the powers that be somehow seem to think it's safe for schools to still go ahead as normal come JanuaryThe mind boggles. I'm hoping that, that silly decision changes before we are due back, as at the moment, I'm just not comfortable or feel safe enough returning straight after new year.
Anyhoo, My new challenge for 2021 is 52 plastic bags decluttering out. 1 bag a week. I am hoping to do 2 items a day for the whole year, so fingers crossed it goes to plan.
My plans for the house next year is
1) Get a new bed and mattress
2) declutter the attic once and for all
3) do the odd jobs around the house that I keep putting off.. Number 1 being fixing the toilet seat.
4) clear out and re-organise the cupboard at the top of the stairs.
5) last but not least, sort my bedroom out and get some new shelving etc put up. or some reason I made a start 2 years ago but lost interest and the stuff is still in the attic.
If I don't get on again before, I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. Stay safe xPay all debt off by Christmas 2025 £815.45/£3,000£1 a day challenge 2025 - £180/£730 Declutter a bag a week in 2025 11/52Lose 25lb - 10/25lbs Read 1 book per week - 5/52Pay off credit card debt 18%/100%15 -
