Morning all xx
Just popping out of lurkdom to say thank you for two posts that have 💡me.
bit_by_bit - I too am periodically overwhelmed and Thursday's panic attack is a sure sign that's where I'm at, but it was only when I read your words that I recognised it. Thank you. A weekend's time out to recentre could be needed. ❤
And Mrs S-D - I'd forgotten how to eat an elephant....and it hadn't occurred to me to break a seemingly simple task like 'write Christmas cards' down into bite size pieces until I read your post. Thank you ❤
As for decluttering- I still have a looonnnggg way to go, but I do have floor now 😊
I'll be cheering you all on from the sidelines.
Much love.

@TC77 sounds like the old BT line is breaking down ask your broadband provider to put your phone onto a BB line. We had that recently. Could just maybe borrow a landline phone that works to test it first.

Saturday 4th December 2021
Out - 3 dead herb plants in buckets, 2 books returned to the library, continued to the recycling point on by the car park on the other side of the road and deposited a large bag of glass jars, then on to the charity shop with a bag of DS3's clothes and a bag of bubble wrap (charity shops mostly welcome packing materials) + 3 extra empty carrier bags that were in my trolley.
I may award myself extra points for today as I've been rained on multiple times and struggled to make the trolley go in a straight line across the town Hall Square, battling the wind. The recycling point had 2 bins for drinks cans and aerosols so went back and worked through about 8 sacks and then a full bin, separating plastic bottles from tin cans. Took 3 sacks of cans to the recycle point which gave me room for 1 1/2 sacks of extra plastic bottles in the brown bin. Will be collected on Wednesday and hoping that we will nearly be caught up by then.
Reapplied bleach and cotton wool to the bath sealant. Had gentle words with DS3 and beloved, not insisting they get rid of anything but gave them guidelines - clothes keep only what they love or makes them feel great (can keep scruffy stuff if it gives them comfort). Anything else - pretend they are starting from scratch and which items they need/ would choose. Put away the 2 bags of clothes I took from here, t shirts in a bag, dress and jogging pants hung up. Three throws away in one of the cubes, 2 pillows and 1 quilt tucked at the side of the cube shelves where they can't be seen. three lots of bedding on top of the cube shelves (DS3's and will be in his line of sight).
Excess bottles of shampoos and conditioners put away in the pockets of the door organiser, multivitamins and cod liver oil capsules added to the medicines I took yesterday (overdoor shelves on my bedroom door).
new rubbish bag, paper sack, clean rags bag (remains of a linen sheet), mucky jobs rags (DS3's old underpants to be used on the worst bits of the kitchen and bathroom floors and go straight in the bin. counted the toilet rolls that are to go to the food bank. Swept the floor and rooted out all the things that were hiding under the chest of drawers.
Washing machine unloaded (DS3's special pillow has come out as good as new so he will be allowed to keep it, other 2 are clean but misshapen so will see if they can be pushed into shape). Further load started (a second chance for some things) Dishwasher unloaded and loaded again.

@2Scratters, thank you, about a year ago they redid some wires - apparently they were damp, and damaged outside of the house - waiting for that to be sorted. However, you inspired me to reply to their email confirming the 8th. Came down to my dad's to find no heating - luckily from this point he is now in a care home so only me staying her. Nearly 2 hours on the phone, promised call back and then cut off.... piled lots of blankets and duvets on.....fortunately in the south of england. I feel so sorry for those in Scotland and the north without energy for over a week.If it had happened in the SE or the cotswolds and army would have been in within a few days and Bojo been filmed in high vis jacket within 24 hours!
Had hoped to do some stuff at my dad's but haven't as yet except few tupperware boxes. There's a mini recyling place near him and I think one CS open on a Sunday so will see what I can do. Making a list of giant frogs and how I can move them on - now will drag into 2022 but want to be in best place possible.
Trying to be a today person, focusing on what I can do today including nothing at times and being more mindful.
Hugs to those in need and appreciate all the support of Mrs SD and others and while not a decluttered house, would be more cluttered without this thread X
