Hiya,
My friend makes lovely celebration cakes. She made one for me not too different from your pic Mrs SD when I left work. She also made a beautiful Faberge egg one for my MIL and FIL for their 60th wedding anniversary. FIL law used to decorate eggs as a hobby. Sounds simple but they were very intricate and took a lot of skill. To get to the point she says its like making something with playdough Liverpool_Anne. She is self taught and Youtube is her friend. I used to do old school cake decorating. White royal icing type. I once did one for someone as a christening cake. It was in the dining room waiting for the event and her toddler ate all one side in big bites.
It is a shame that there are so few evening classes these days. I loved my upholstery class and it has held me in good stead for years. All there is round here is sign language, Spanish and IT. I would love to do woodwork or jewellery making.
bit by bit I am glad that you got to see your mini me graduateI honestly don't do as much as it may seem. I spend a lot of time thinking which, to the untrained eye may look like doing jigsaws and crafting.
The seat cushion was finished yesterday and the guy gave me a box of fancy biscuits. I have sent them to work with Mr V to save me from myself.
Quick house clean today then try to clear the backlog of craft things half done.

Decluttered 2 huge lasagne dishes after realising that i’m never really going to cook lasagna for 6 again. Now that I have an air fryer, I got rid of six baking trays and wire racks that I doubt I will ever use again - I’ve barely used them in the last six years. Also trying to give away a pestle and mortar because it’s ridiculously heavy and again, do I ever really use it?More clothes gone as I become more discerning. I’m wearing a really nice thermal wicking compression top around the house – ordinarily I’d be wearing four layers. Plus I feel more ‘active’ when I’m wearing sports gear😂😂.I’ve also got some returns to sort out, one letter to post and a catch up on paperwork. And the bleeping PIP form.8

Sounds like a fab weekend Mrs S_D, and the type sorely missed during the pandemic.
I managed to get most of my Christmas shopping complete at the weekend and also picked up some new bits and bobs for DD, including socks, which saw 12 too small pairs she'd still been wearing go to the material recycling.
Also sold and sent a bundlebean baby cover.

A few more items on eBay but they seem particularly slow moving so they may end up in the CS. No big decluttering plans, at the moment, just gradually picking up the bits and pieces as I find themJune Grocery Challenge £0/£250

@vulpix, yes there is a dearth of evening classes here as well. In the past I have done car maintenance for women which stood me in good stead for both emergency road side fixes and when I had to use a garage understanding what the mechanic was telling me and being able to discuss it in a reasonably intelligent way
. I have also done wood turning which was wonderful and if I can ever get back near a lathe I will. I have a few feelers out on that front. I have a couple of electric saws as just sawing wood is a skill I have never mastered but I was lucky enough to train to use the big machines in the DT room at school and we managed to make some very nice planters etc from pallets but I would love to do more. My OH did a jewelry making course and made some lovely things in gold and silver. I have dabbled with the bead and wire type using u tube as a guide. The main thing I have found is the equipment you need for these can be expensive so I would like to try them first at an evening class to see if I like it
. I have a long list of crafty things I want to try including spinning, weaving and various ways of using yarn but for now I am just trying to concentrate on sorting out the house so I have the clutter free space to do them
It is a great incentive to get on with things as all my craft stuff is in storage, except the knitting and crochet stuff, until I have that space
.

accidentalglixch, good luck with the koi 🤞which are bringing such joy to your family 🙂 How many names are needed? I do like the idea of Ghost. Great decluttering btw 👏 Now remember you do NOT have to fill all your storage 😉 As per my comment below - I am excited for you & would like to thank you for finding us & sharing your joy 👏
@Mrs_Salad_Dodger Dad & the 2 movers agreed that we have Goldfish not Koi but still happy with them either way.
There's at least 23 , could be more though. It's a knee deep pond so may have missed one or two when counting. And yeah I said to my Husband that even though we have storage, I don't want anything shoved there.
I'm really happy - I've tried to organise/use storage logically. All cleaning stuff in one area, cooking stuff by oven & hob.
I am having a hard time organising the Pantry...can't decide what type food goes where - it's organised in groups but unsure what shelves.... one to test out and see how life rolls with it.On the 15th (Monday - Moving day) we quickly sorted out the last little bits. We threw out another 10(ish) Items.
Total items = 93 items decluttered. We're settling in really well , not done a lot of unpacking as yesterday was a chill day (Fibro flare), Today I was changing addresses and Hubs was at work. I return to work tomorrow so it'll have to wait until the weekend.
Tell you what though, our bed feels so much more cosier and warmer than the old place even though we've not changed anything about it. Still unsettled at night here but I get a bit restless in 'new' places and will/should ware off soon.
Can't believe i am back to work tomorrow after 8 days off! not including weekends (it's alright though I work from home & have my own room to work from)🗑️Mission Declutter & Clean 2022🧼 - 105 Items

Managed a few frogs today, 2 hours waiting for PIP line to answer, DD1 didn't tell them new address but stage 1 of no doubt many 2063 (thanks Mrs SD for number update).
phone calls, emails deleted 2064-2065
Would love to do more upholstery, didn't do enough to keep going at home8 -
also managed to declutter tub of body lotion on a carpet, hoping the bicarb may help by the morning, done little so far, may be looking for suggestions from this lovely group.8

Good morning. Came on here to update totals but realised I had done that for at least 2 months. 460+ posts to read through should have given me a bit of a clue.
Decluttered a lot of stuff including some crafty stuff as I've made things for a Christmas Fayre.
Lots of recycling and selling things as well.
No idea of any numbers whatsoever .
I'll just read a long from now on and join a new thread if there is one in the new year.

@Mrs_Salad_Dodger That cake is absolutely amazing. I've very envious of your skills.
When my mother was 80, due to complete lack of organisation, broken oven and two left thumbs, her cake consisted of a bought cake complete with an an 80 topper, a racing granny on a zimmer frame with miniature Gitdog attached, and candles saying "S**t U're Old".
Think parent may be looking out to adopt you.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT
2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING
3. ONCE A WEEK LEAVE THE HOUSE (e.g. Go into city centre for bank & butcher; go to local town for cs dropping off or buying; visit the pub with DH 😉
4. CLEAN & EMPTY SURFACE AREAS - DAILY
Wednesday was a mostly dry day 🙂 DH managed to sort out the bedroom door - now has new hinges & only had to be taken off 4 times 😱 before it closed properly 😉 DSis went to pharmacy & has a completely different make of medication ☹️ Time will tell if it is OK. I dealt with a potential frog - went to P.O. & bought 2nd class stamps & a supply of stamps to Europe + used ATM 😉 DH & DSis finished off their Chinese. I fried up lo mash, sausages & baked beans & put a couple of fried eggs on top 😋 Wudupa.
2116 - 2123 Kitchen recycling, newspaper, 6 plastic takeaway boxes & lids - recycled
2124 Kitchen detritus - binned
Thursday is a dry bright but chilly day so far. The recycling wheelie bin has finally been emptied after 3 weeks 🥳 DH’s niece has managed to book the party venue for the 28th 🥳 - even though they don’t do Sunday lunch 😉😉 DSis is up & about. DH has just got up (12:15) as he was on sleep strike until the recycling bin was emptied 🤣
Now to cheerleading 🙂
Excellent work on dealing with frogs, Liverpool_Anne 👏 & well done on starting the email declutter - hopefully if you can do 15 minutes a day it will be clear in no time 🤞 Everything crossed that the eye test went OK & there are no problems 🤞Sorry you had to queue so long in the P.O. 😔 The cake was tasty but sadly there was too much icing. Btw great cheerleading 👏 Such a talented lady 👏 and being able to take up a few new hobbies is a great incentive to declutter 🙂
vulpix, what a great friend to have 🙂👏 The cake ‘faberge type eggs’ sound beautiful 🤩 I hope you had taken photos before the toddler decided to do a taste test 😉😅 Hopefully next year things might start to pick up & useful evening classes will re-commence 🤞Good luck with clearing your crafting backlog 🤞
Well done on decluttering so much kitchenalia Vascodakarma 👏 Perhaps you could sell the pestle & mortar? I have 2 but have only used them a couple of times 😔 However they are beautiful & were both presents from my lovely DH so I am loathe to part with them 😉 If you are wearing sports gear you are automatically more active 😉 as wearing lots of layers restricts your movement 😅
So right Finstickle - but I think we appreciate the parties/family get togethers far more now having missed out for so long 🙂 Well done on completing your Christmas shopping & also some good decluttering 👏 I have been remiss 😔 two Gold Stars ⭐️ ⭐️ are on their way.
If they are goldfish accidentalglixch that would explain why they were left behind 😉 How goes the naming of said fish? Excellent work on the move 👏 and as long as the boxes are all in their appropriate rooms then the exciting unpacking can take place at your own pace. Sounds like your bedroom & home office are ready & you are making great strides in the kitchen 👏 Very pleased to hear that your husband has been ‘instructed’ on how to use storage properly 😂 Great decluttering - almost into triple figures 🙂👏
Great work on dealing with frogs TC77 👏 What a great skill to have 🙂 - upholstery can be rather expensive to get done ☹️ Oops-a-daisy - hope you can get the body lotion cleared up 🤞but at least the carpet will smell nice & will be hydrated 😉
Nice to see you ilovetea 👋 Don’t worry too much about numbers as it sounds like you have done a lot of decluttering & are noticing the difference👏 To keep you on the decluttering charabanc/s I am awarding you a Gold Star ⭐️ There is definitely going to be a 2022 thread - I just need to decide on a title 😉
elsien, unfortunately not made by me 😔 In a previous life I used to make & decorate cakes - mostly theme cakes for my nephew (Thomas the Tank Engine, a castle, Power Rangers etc) & even managed a couple of wedding cakes using royal icing (piping etc) rather than sugar paste 🙂 Mind you I rather like your imaginative decorating ideas 👏🙂 I had to re-read as I thought it was 2 ‘broken’ thumbs 😔😂 & I was rather surprised that you could manage to do anything 😉
