Floriana, those plates had your name on them. They will give you a lot of pleasure so why not.
ccw007 it seems like you have broken the back of your work on the house. Ace.
A good day here at chez Vulpix. We have eaten a frog by putting up a mirror,4 pictures and 2 Mouse houses. Took ages to measure up and drill into the stone walls. A decision was made to take the aluminium ladders to he tip as they are bent. They actually belong to my Mum, I won't tell her if you don't .
I just can't be bothered listing things to sell atm. Christmas tree and a box of decorations put in the shed for now. Maybe next week.
Roofing bloke came. Result. He said it will only take 3 days as it is a very straightforward job. 5K. That seems very reasonable to me. We said he can start whenever he can. The other guy never got back to us even though he promised, twice ,so his loss.
We went out for a meal tonight. So many people have Christmas lights up. That is a bit early even for a Mrs Claus like me.

Back to Saturday 😉 After our first cuppa, we had a couple more with lots of catching up on family goings on with DH’s niece (S) her husband (C) & DH’s DSis (W) & DBiL (T). S’s 3yr old DGS has tested positive so mum & dad have to isolate 😱 DH’s nephew (P) & his fiancée (N) arrived & we all sat down to dinner - hm cottage pie with cauliflower & carrots 🤤 All of the ladies were drinking gin & tonic (including me 😉) I am a convert to Apple Blossom & Blackcurrant gin 🙂 Lots of chat, laughter & putting the world to rights 😉 P & N had to leave about 9:30 as they were both working on Sunday 😔 The rest of us spent another 2.5 hours drinking & chatting before W & T went home (next door 😉) The 4 of us remaining had a cuppa then all went to bed. Sunday everyone was up by 9:30 a.m. Lots more chat & laughter with tea & toast for breakfast then we all got ready for the birthday luncheon (DH’s DSisIL’s (M) 80th) Six of us set off in 2 cars with S & C as the designated drivers - ladies in one car, gents in the other. We were the first to arrive at Maidstone The Great Danes Hotel. Drinks at the bar, then the rest of the family started to arrive - birthday girl’s younger grandson + wife + daughter 26 months + new baby boy 8.5 weeks old; then granddaughter + fiancé + new baby boy 11.5 weeks old. The last to arrive was M with her 2 daughters & one son-in-law for a 4 person lunch 😉😉 She was over the moon 😊 - even though she doesn’t usually like surprises 😉 Lots of hugs, fussing over babies & general chat catching up with all the family - all of us with drinks in hand. After about 30 mins or so we all sat down & ordered our meals. Then got back up with general milling about as there was rather a long wait for our starters ☹️ Everyone tucked in & agreed that the starters were all delicious (DH had kofta balls & pitta, I had chicken liver parfait & toast with an apple & beetroot chutney 🤤) There was a shorter delay in the mains arriving but again absolutely delicious 😋 (DH had sea bass, new potatoes & veg, I had a Caesar salad with salmon (think a fillet of salmon) 😉) More milling about, holding babies & then sitting back down whilst M opened her presents 🎁 & cards. M was happily overwhelmed by all the attention & the presents 🙂😊 A few people had ordered desserts which eventually arrived 😔 & a long delay before coffee was eventually served ☹️ Then Happy Birthday was sung, candle blown out & the cake cut. See below
Every part of the cake was edible except the knitting needles 😉 👏 Then time to start saying our goodbyes - after almost 5 hours 🙂🙂 Everyone had a wonderful time & my hug bucket is full 🥳🥳👏😊 Excellent company, delicious food, pleasant waiting staff 👏🙂 but the service was a bit slow (inexperienced young staff as a consequence of C19) 😔 Hopefully it won’t be another 18 months before we see everyone again 🤞 (with the kind agreement of M’s two daughters, DH & I footed the bill) We went back to S & C house as we were staying for a 2nd night. More catching up, chatting about the party & a few hours later a sandwich 😉 & a cuppa, then bed. Monday C went to work but S had the day off. More catching up & putting the world to rights. Sandwiches for lunch with W & T. DH & I left about 14:30 & home by 16:00. DSis had vacuumed whole house + scrubbed kitchen, bathroom & cloakroom floors 👏 I cooked sausage, mash & baked beans for dinner & birthday cake for afters 🙂 Wudupa.

An absolutely wonderful weekend 😊😁 - how fortunate I am that DH has such a wonderful family 👏 now on to cheerleading
accidentalglixch, good luck with the koi 🤞which are bringing such joy to your family 🙂 How many names are needed? I do like the idea of Ghost. Great decluttering btw 👏 Now remember you do NOT have to fill all your storage 😉 As per my comment below - I am excited for you & would like to thank you for finding us & sharing your joy 👏
What a lovely thing to say vulpix 😊 and ‘yes you are all making a difference to me’ - you have all kept me & are keeping me going by sharing your lives & tales of decluttering 👏 You sound more organised with your wardrobe than I am vulpix - I just shoved everything back in 😱😔 The teal top sounds perfect (& yes I did wear my new skirt with DH’s ‘hippo’ t-shirt & my new to me jumper) & what great finds at the CS 👏🙂 I have noted your new target 😉 as I see the clutter gremlin has been visiting again 😉😉
Sorry to hear that you are not feeling great, short_bird ☹️
Liverpool_Anne, thanks so much for the info re koi carp 👏 Sorry to hear about the problems getting workmen in to at least start the work on the kitchen ☹️ Makes me wonder if builders are still having problems getting supplies 😔 Sending positive vibes your way in the hope that you can get the repointing done to sort out the damp problem + some for your neighbour.
Lovely to see you leelad 👋 I was starting to get a bit concerned about your whereabouts but I see you have been busy 👏 It is surprising (though shouldn’t be) how much gets done by pottering 👏 Your auntie sounds like a wonderful woman & a real character & well done to both of you for such a great decluttering job 👏 One Gold Star ⭐️ ⭐️ for each of you. Hopefully your daughter will let a few items go from her bookcase 🤞Sorry to hear that your wife is struggling but she is proving herself strong by keeping going - I hope she will accept a virtual hug from me & my sincerest wishes that things will improve. I am looking forward to reading about the successful decluttering of your auntie’s greenhouses 🙂
I will be back tomorrow to finish the cheerleading as I have run out of charge 😔

What a lovely cake - my mum was a celebration cake maker and would have loved this.
Have cough and cold this week again - DGS was poorly at end of last week when I was looking after him but 2 covid tests were negative. I've had all three C19 jabs and the flu one. I need to tackle frogs this morning.

Well done on the partial second sweep Vascodakarma 👏 excellent decluttering.
nannywindow the washing must have seemed never ending 😱 then doing your own as well 😔 👏How nice that you have had your Christmas & New Year all planned out for you 😉 I adore the idea of you frisking the bedding before you remake the bed 😂
elsien, I have 2 mattress protectors but generally only use the 2nd one when I can’t wash & line dry the first one 😉 Excellent decluttering & tidying 👏 You can never have too many gardening/DIY clothes 😉
Good decluttering EnergyShifter 👏 keep up the good work 🙂
bit_by_bit, hope the PCR test results turn up soon just to put your mind completely at rest 😉 Well done on the decluttering & vacuuming 👏 Not too sure about the ‘enjoying vacuuming’ 🤔
vulpix, hope the craft fairs go well 🤞 You will have to teach the cat to craft 😉🙃
Great work TC77 especially dealing with 3 frogs 👏
Good work Happy_Kitties 👏
Your daughter is sooo funny Vascodakarma 🤣 At least a smaller top half means no future back problems or sagging 😉
Wednesday2000, You might not have decluttered many physical items but washing & vacuuming still counts as decluttering 👏
ruby_eskimo, I really did enjoy my weekend in Kent 😁 A pre Christmas deep clean - you are putting me to shame 😔 but great work 👏
Good work short_bird 👏
What beautiful plates florianatwobob 👏 I think I would have been tempted too 😉
GrannyKate, cleaning the entire house can definitely be counted as dealing with a frog 👏 As to the croaking frogs perhaps a touch of cough medicine 😉
Nice to see you CCW007 👋 Excellent work in the bedroom - you can now see a light at the end of tunnel 👏 An excellent antidote to your depression - you should be very pleased & proud of yourself at all the decluttering & tidying 👏
No charge again 😔

Oh my goodness Mrs_SD, that cake looks amazing 😍😍🤯 Sounds like you had a wonderful and much needed weekend - glad that the hug bucket is now full!
Tuesday is bedrooms day so have stripped the beds and sheets are in the wash now. Later on I'll have a whizz round with the duster and finish moving stuff back to the spare room that we had to move out for our guests (mainly Christmas presents to be wrapped and a pile of shredding). Might try and list some more things for sale this evening - want to get rid of stuff that I think I can make some money on but at the same time it's a lot of hassle and I could just donate it 🤔

It sounds like you had an amazing weekend Mrs SD. Lovely, lovely cake and apple blossom and blackcurrant gin does sound lush. Hats off to your DSis too for house cleaning, particularly as she doesn't seem to enjoy good health.
There are 2 frogs on my list before I write a new list. Glossing our bedroom woodwork and cleaning the inside windows. Painting will be epic as all the furniture is massive and heavy. I am very disappointed that the own brand paint that I used is such rubbish.
The cottage is starting to feel homely now. Everything seems to have found a home. The pantry is a complete Tardis and contains mainly Christmas decorations and kitchen stuff, baking paraphernalia etc. I am undecided whether to keep the pantry or not when I have a new kitchen. It is amazing for storage... but things are hard to access if you want an item from a box at the bottom of the pile, also a storage area wont be much use if I have the house as a holiday rental. As the pantry is under the stairs perhaps replace it with more accessible room facing cupboards. I think I have done it again, just cleared my mind by writing it down.
I am excited to be having a new roof (really?) currently there is NO insulation up there whatsoever. It is the start of my renovation. Things are moving.
Craft club today where I will take all my makes for the Christmas fair, reindeer food and sprouts. I will also finish the chaps seat cushion. I have unpicked the kilt, and unearthed the velvet from shortening the curtains ,epic cos the box was at the bottom of the pile. I will take it with me and have a play to see how to make it into a throw. I love making something from nothing. The reindeer food is wild bird seed and oats wrapped in a little cellophane parcel and tied with curling ribbon scraps. I save the cellophane from greetings cards ,ribbon salvaged from gifts. I have also made a box by covering a box with used Christmas wrapping paper. I think I will post a pic so you can see it hopefully looks better than it sounds.

Sympathies re paint @vulpix - I too found cheaper paint a false economy and had to redo. I could see late DH wagging his finger at me and saying 'I told you so'. Only just got dressed as I tackled an on line frog - now finished. Out to a meeting this pm then collect children from after school club.
