Thursday was another dry chilly day. Quite bright in the morning but got dark very early afternoon. I dug out my box of Christmas cards & will start writing them out over the weekend. Cleared down a few more programmes from the planner. Dinner was hm mushroom risotto & very tasty it was too 🤤 There is even enough left for tomorrow night’s dinner. Wudupa.

Hi all, today I have managed to get a wash on the line and nearly dried
, took OH to MrT for a quick shop then on to costco to sort out my membership as I used to do it through work, so OH now has a card as well which will hopefully save some money on petrol, currently 7p a lt cheaper than the cheapest garage. OH is a driving instructor so it could save a lot over the year. Also called at the chemist for meds for OH who is now discovering the joys of having to keep up with ordering meds and dealing with a string of medical tests and appointments. I have organised the online links to enable this to be done, I have been using them for myself for years and it i so much easier
.
I did some knitting after tea as I need to crack on with a Christmas present. Various text messages and phone calls to sort out a ticket for the football for OH's bil and a catch up with a friend.
No decluttering apart from the usual rubbish but I feel as if I have been busy all day
Take care everyone7 -
@Blackberrycurved , Yes occasionally I have binned things ,just to get them out of the house. Also taken to charity things I could of sold. For me the quicker I de cluttered the better, I couldn't have things hanging around as I felt like I was stalling.
I would ring a charity and tell them how many bags and they would collect as I don't have a car. This was pre covid.
Everyone needs to do what works for them , Things you may have paid a lot for are sunk costs ,and you have to get it in your mindset that it's not needed and makes you more aware when buying in future. Good luck everyone you've all been so good in your decluttering this year 😊Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.7 -
@Blackberrycurved... I find it so hard to get rid of things unless I think they are being used. I find freegle and freecycle good. And surprised what people want. My dd left home again and left alot of toiletries she would have binned. CS took tube of unopened fake tan and someone froma free site picked up others that had a tiny bit used. I am managing to give her a few bits back but she was overwhelmed so wanted to bin everything. I'm sure if I could throw stuff out more would be quicker process. Also in some places leaving things out for passerbys and if not taken bin. I am better at giving CS new things with labels and not trying to sell to.get out of house as wort says sunk costs. Work in progress here!6

I sold the clothes through the pence per kilo place, because I hada few black bags of them and I wanted rid ,instead of selling individually through ebay for example.I sold some books through ziffit but they didn't want quite a lot fot hem and it was a pain to keep scanning, beeping, denied for the odd scanning beeping, accepted, so they all went to the World of Books in one trip. I did several tip trips because I knew most of it would be recycled, for biomass, or the metal or whatever. I gave away the fabric stash or put it in the recycling. And I gave to the CS's. I wanted it out of the house more than I wanted to make money from it.

Some local clothes' shops give a discount voucher when you deposit a bagful of old clothes or rags. It's usually about 15%, and only valid for 3 months, but if you were going to buy something there anyway..... Worthwhile to check, maybe?I have a bagful of branded children's clothes (properly branded: Burberry, Hillfiger, etc). I just cannot gather the courage, energy, time to actually take nice pictures and put them up for sale. The summery clothes are now in the donation bag for African relatives, the wintery clothes are in a bag for a local charity shop. The clothes were given to me by a wealthy and spendy colleague, about 6 years ago.

H and m do a scheme take a bag of clothes/ fabric and get £5 voucher. I think they recycle rather than reuse so I give them things CS don't want ,, ie stain .8

It’s not directly decluttering related but a small cause for celebration in our house. We’ve been actively working to reduce the amount of rubbish going to landfill in our fortnightly bin collections and today we realised that we’ve barely scraped a half full bin for the last two collections. Our local council reduced the size of the landfill bins from a previous standard sized wheelie bin which all means the ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’ efforts are working! 🎉

Friday was another dry, chilly day. DH & I went out to lunch with his niece M who lives in London. Another step towards normality as we used to meet up every 6 weeks or so 🙂DH & I had burgers & M had a hot dog (in a Five Guys). Excellent burgers 🤤 & the milk shakes were sooo good 😊 Lots of chat - you would have thought we had run out of things to talk about after her mum’s 80th party 😉 Then we popped into a S*a*b….. for a coffee & continued chatting 🙂 Parted company after about 2.5 hours having had a thoroughly enjoyable time 👏🙂 Dinner was lo risotto with a fried egg on top for DH & me. DSis had oven chips & an sm chicken pie. Wudupa.

You were busy all day Liverpool_Anne 👏 & got a lot done 🙂
Lovely post wort 👏 You are so right, sometimes we just have to get the ‘stuff’ out of our homes asap 👏🙂
Great work TC77 👏 How large is the bag TC77?
Wow -taff 🤩 you certainly were/have been busy 👏 and you showed your determination to be rid of ‘stuff’ 👏🙂
Very interesting info Siebrie 👏 Did your children wear the branded clothes? The CS will be extremely grateful for such a generous donation 😇
short_bird, I have never used my CC or DC on-line 😉 so I understand exactly why you cancelled your A*a*on a/c. Well done on the continuing decluttering of data 👏
florianatwobob, I beg to differ - you are decluttering the need for a large bin 👏 & are helping to save the planet 😇👏
