Could you make an apron with the ties? Sure I've seen pics on P1ntrest, they have the thin end at the top over the chest & the wider part makes the 'skirt'. Wouldn't need to cut them up, just see the edges togetherUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

Or if you are able to cut them up at some point in the future, a christmas bauble of each tie? If you use the widest part, you still have quite a lot of material to play to make something else possibly for each individual, maybe something like a small square of quilt type design with a piece of each fabric...

-taff that is a lovely idea to make Christmas decorations from the ties. I think that would make them special but I am a Christmas fiend.
My Dad died 40 years ago. All I have of his is a tiny baby nightdress, a silver "baby" broach and a tiny metal pig. Amazing that he had anything from his childhood as he was the eldest of 8.
florianatwobob, I was going to say sew the thick ends of the ties into a circle and either frame them or make a cushion. I have even seen people make skirts out of ties ,bit hardcore for me! ... and it would need an awful lot of ties lol.
I had acquired and saved some Victorian pine cupboard doors in the hope of using them at this house. They are off to a new home as I can't squeeze them in anywhere.

@2scratters looking forward to Edinburgh. DD and I started doing an early December 'shopping' trip about 22 years ago on impulse and it has become a yearly fixture. We mostly go to Europe, always a different place, with occasional variations when real life gets in the way. Not much shopping gets done but we always get a bauble each for our very colourful Christmas trees. We have been to Prague, France, Budapest, Riga, Tallinn, Oslo, Malmo, Copenhagen and about 8 different German cities but one of the best was definitely Iceland in December.
Still a bit sore from last week's driving. Three years today since I lost DH - DD has come up and going out for a meal later. Early start to take small people to school.
I have done some cleaning and bed changing but not much has left the house
1591 Red plant pot to bin - I picked this up to dust it and realised it had a crack all down one side - not sure when that happened - I usually use it to put poinsettia in at Christmas.
1592 Plastic to recycling at co-op

Just catching up as been AWOL the last few days. Enjoyed a visit to Manchester to see a band and visit family and just too tired yesterday.
@Vascodakarma 'travel light, leave no footprints' I am all in support of these sentimentsAlso enjoy your travel planning. Life is too short and slowly the world is becoming your oyster once more.
Belated birthday wishes @Mrs_Salad_Dodger
Amazing games room work @Finstickle. I am quite jealous
@vulpix. i am so glad MrV is ok. Obviously you don't want hom out of action too long.
@Liverpool_Anne: both fantastic ideas. I am going to nick the second one for some of my family decorations
And @-taff and @Thrifty_Taylor with the ties. I have some tie silk that was given to me ages ago. I feel another project in the pipeline.
Nothing out yet today but two bags are waiing in the car as I couldn't get to the CS this morning due to a road closure.
I have been slowly removing, rehoming or disposing of stuff in teh room of doom. I have yet more packaging for the loft. Slightly defeated by Mil arriving with a load of wool given to her that she wants to store with mine. I have room now so I am not complaining and I know she weill come and take some soon.
She also gave me some colours for my SiL christmas blanket so I won't need to buy any at all.

Hello all, sorry I haven't kept up with the posts again 🙁 Hugs to anyone in need.I put out a cs bag for collection today which was not quite full, but I did try to fill it, honest. Yesterday I recluttered some Xmas presents via delivery, that's most of DGD's big ones done, now I must concentrate on DGS. Can't be doing with fighting the crowds in person, they make me anxious, plus there's always covid lurking in the background. We are having a tussle with O*pen reach about our abysmal broadband speeds, something that's been ongoing for a while. Last going off our speeds were worse than when they started 🤬 The drive man has postponed starting for another 2 weeks too, depending on the weather, we're fast coming to the end of our tether with both.In good news we are going to get a winter fuel payment each and we've had a letter about having our booster jabs on the 24th. Our appointments are only half an hour apart so we'll go together. I've also tried on 2 woolen winter coats that I have had for many years, they both still wearable and they fit even better that last time. Go me I must have lost some weight in all the right places😉. The black one, mainly used for funerals, has a faux fur collar which could do with a lift as it's gone flat. As the coat is dry clean only I'll try to gently just wash the collar, here's hoping I can do it. Maybe a wash and blow dry then 🤣Take care allnanFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently7

Again so much going on here, and great ideas and inspirations. Also hugs to anyone in need.
Friend helped me last night when overwhelmed by everything and managed to get bruised shoulder from a low hanging and damaged road sign - reported as someone else may be more severely injured but not easy and didn't want my photo of the sign!
Even more to be injured on at home so early morning tidy and things on freegle etc
6 moving type boxes picked up
3 socks/underwear for recycling
1 eye mask unwanted
3 wicker storage boxes and their lids
2 random bundle or rubbish, unidentifiable plastic bits
1 charger to pass on
1 shoe (no partner)
1 part of a hoover I don't have
1 make up and bits left by DD1 (she still has other bits to claim)
Will add 19 to my total later.
Do feel I've picked up pace but then need to for my sanity and family life. Hoping to do more tonight. May even try and pass on chest of drawer - bulky so best out before I decorate and use smaller one that's downstairs (given to DD1 who know longer wants it) in the bedroom for spare linen and fabric (which again needs sorting).

thank you @Mrs_Salad_Dodger for the star!
I did my desk yesterday - a handful of items thrown out, there wasn't a lot as I'd already sorted it it the day before & a few months ago.
Some items placed in their respective & organised box (like pens in stationary instead of just a random general box)
You're right, the wardrobe wasn't to bad. mostly everything was already organised - forgot I went through it a few months ago at the same time as doing my desk.
I took time to go through everything so I didn't bring stuff I didn't want.
Quite proud of myself as I got rid of some stuff that I was only holding onto because a family member made it. But then I thought why am I keeping it if it serves no purpose to me. I felt bad at first but got used to the feeling as the day went on.
I have a bag full of clothes that my sister may like.
and a few items in the other unwanted clothes bag (these are clothes that are either not suitable to wear or have no one to hand down to)
The husband had a great birthday - I did a Squid Game theme... we didn't do a lot together as we don't rally have a lot of time now.
I'm starting to feel the nerves. I hate moving...but know I'd live such a happier life in the new place.

Many thanks for the medal Mrs SD, displaying it with pride and belated birthday wishes aswell. Loved the picture of ur cake
*367 counting as one job lot but decluttered off to the organiser, Christmas charity shoeboxes x 8. I always feel like it is the start of Christmas when they go.
*368 also gave the organiser a big bag of extras from my stocks. Hopefully they will be used this year.
*369 huge bag of empty and cleaned cat sachets dropped off at the recycling point.*370 decluttered into recycling some greetings cards. Normally I would keep them to scrapbook, but they’ve been sitting around for a couple of years not bringing any joy so was ruthless and off they went
*371 decluttered spare Halloween sweets to group I belong to. I didn’t know which way it would go after last year so bought extra in. The leftovers went very quickly in the group. Saved me eating them and sending my blood sugars thru the roof which are temperamental at the best of times!!
*372 small pretty cat mug with a slot to pop it’s ceramic spoon in, used in Christmas shoeboxes. DD had left it behind and grown out of it, not really her so thought would pop it in a shoebox for someone to get use from it and enjoyDecluttering challenge 2023🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
