Nothing out yesterday other than recycling. Upstairs cleaned.
We are doing very well on our January fast. Using up food stocks cleaning materials and toiletries and not buying anything we just fancy. We are working to a £30 pw pocket money so Mr V doesn't feel too deprived. Used this week on coffee, birthday cads etc. Any remaining money we will stick in the new car fund at the start of each week.
We have been given some pallets which I want to dismantle and make into an outside shelter for one of my cats. She will sit out in all weathers. Whatever is left over will be cut up for the log burner.
Another baby hat made, using up wool stash. A long way to go before that is all used!
Everyone is making great strides. Fantastic work and thank you Mrs SD for your amazing cheerleading.

Wildrose said:Hi All, joining this thread hoping for the motivation to clear the clutter in my house. Also in my garden, sheds and garage. I've been living here a couple of years, having moved from somewhere much bigger and despite spending months before moving getting rid off belongings, I still have way too much stuff! This was my parent's house and most a lot of the clutter in the garage and one of the sheds and the loft was theirs.
I've had a stressy couple of years, including a car accident which left me able to do very little all last year, so hardly any progress was made in organising this place. I've also lost a lot of confidence and energy since the accident but living in this muddle isn't helping. Getting busy sorting what I can will hopefully make a difference to my home and my health. Planning to report in regularly and be inspired by other posters success.
You have been having a rough time. Hope it's behind you now. This is definitely the place to be - I've had so much encouragement either directly or just by being motivated by what others are doing. Watch it, though. Left to itself, stuff in boxes breeds!

Brilliant work everyone who has kept going. I will be back with my mojo at the weekend hopefully. Until then, I plan on crawling carefully through the week. x
If you're desperate, since you have a rabbit, you could also count the individual pellets of poo you have to remove from the cage... (Yep! There's a rabbit chez basketcase!Well, usually, currently decluttered to the ex for Christmas and can't take it back due to lockdown. See? There are upsides!

Hello
Right, lessons in English, Drama and Technology decluttered. Thank goodness one child is able to work independently! I've had to call time on it today and we'll go again tomorrow or nothing else will get done today like yesterday or the day before. To be fair, the teachers are responsive but the kids don't want to wait for answers to their questions, they just want to fire through the work and go and play on their Xbox.
DH has decided that he is fed up living in a mess so has waltzed around the house, shouting and getting annoyed that he can't find the broom. I find the broom and he indicates where he wants me to sweep. I'm going to find another use for that broom by the end of the day!
So, today I need to first clear the fires he has set off. The sofas have been detached and exposed all the debris underneath, he has started to empty the DW but left all the clean things in amongst things waiting to go in and I still have no working oven. In answer to your question @Mrs_Salad_Dodger, he did look at the oven after several requests and sat straight back down again claiming he couldn't find a screwdriver. If I wasn't living in it, it would almost be comical.
So I'm off to do this and I'll report back in to keep me motivated:
1. Clear living room debris and put sofas back together
2. Clear kitchen / DW
3. Put food delivery away that he just left on the side (which may require a fridge declutter first!)

Well, as you can see, I've been catching up! Hello to all joiners and apologies to those I didn't reply to. Everyone's doing so well, especially considering the depressing news about Covid numbers and the way WM is messing people about. We've been restricted to Level 4 up here since Boxing Day (except the Islands - and even they were upped to Level 3). So it doesn't feel as bad somehow. It seems that the last time I posted was on 3 January but I have been keeping to my Daily Decluttering Action. Despite the central heating boiler going! The boiler was fixed yesterday, so we've got hot water again. YAY! Today is 'Clearing Away Christmas' day, as we basically do the 12 days of Christmas in BC Towers. I'll catch up with that later, but at least this year's tree wasn't a, evil-smelling, malevolent porcupine, so I'm hopeful things will go quite smoothly.4 JanuaryNot much, due to boiler problems. Just a few bits and pieces. Although I also decluttered the last couple of slices of lemon roulade from the freezer, plus last of picky bits for lunch and pre-cooked mince converted to shepherd's pie for tea. I now have a freezer drawer free - maybe time for an inventory?So:26-32 - Eat ups from Freezer33 - Ratty washing up sponge replaced34-5 - Scented candles used and glass recycled5 JanuaryWashing up done (using kettle and pans to get hot water!) and sink area cleared for boilerman. More cleaning than decluttering today. All counters given particularly thorough cleaning, along with all handles, light switches, door knobs, boiler and controls etc before and after his visit. (I usually do it anyway, but used the concentrated stuff just to be sure. DS not shielding, but high risk. Plus wouldn't want boilerman to catch any stray bugs from us
).
36-8 - Junk mail recycled39-40 - Empty bubble packs from partially used pill packs detached from 'full' bits and binned.41-83 - Assorted recycling actually left the house! That's it so far. Not that much really, but I think the daily discipline will become a habit. Right. Off to get lunch then declutter Christmas.
