I delegated much of the decluttering to my son today. Sent him up into the loft with the Christmas decs, then did a quick tour of his room pointing out what needed to go into the recycling bin. So for the last half hour he's been in and out to the bin and a good number of items are decluttered. I'm still a bit startled that he just up and got on with it.
Maybe this is the first in a series - son declutters shed, son declutters garage..... Think I'm getting into the realms of fantasy here.13 -

I'm that fed up today I am considering counting how many strands of straw I decluttered to the rabbit hutch to give a sense of achievement.
Brilliant work everyone who has kept going. I will be back with my mojo at the weekend hopefully. Until then, I plan on crawling carefully through the week. xSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330

This thread and fellow declutterers are amazing! So much stuff going out. I've been waiting for a quiet moment here to post but there's always lots to keep up with.
I started the year by thinking how far along the road I've got - my decluttering achievements. Now there is nothing under the beds, space in the grocery cupboard, space in the chest of drawers of doom( lots more work needed there)- the magazine rack is tidy and no longer dangerous, there is space on the book shelves, the rag pile and my wool stash are smaller. What to do in 2021?
Following Bit_By_Bit, one thing a day and no stress if I don't hit my target , secondly, finding one place for everything in a category, tackling difficult clutter like photos and of course there's the garage, and I could go on.
So. No more toiletries again this year , using up the stash. here I must thank Scarlet Ribbons for the suggestion about using up shower gel as sink soap as I've got a huge bottle of stuff a friend gave me as she didn't like it and didn't want to waste it so I gave it a home and I don't like it eirher. Sounds familiar, eh?
I had a happy time yesterday putting all my buttons in the one drawer in their own box, with two very very small drawers left empty in a small pine chest which will be a home for......?????
I started on the photos but got stuck spending too much time in them so moved to my card collection and now have all unused postcards in the one box. More work on these categories later. The idea is when I want to find something all will be in its wee home.
1 battery to recycling
1 card board box to recycling
1 handbagforCS
2 old diaries to recycling
1 code word book to recycling
2 boxes of ood medicines for chemists
1 small pile of photos
Totak= 9 + 66= 75/365
Stay safe everyone and a healthy 2021 for everyone and hugs for everyone as well. And as I said to DD at New Year, be kind to yourself.

I'm really going to have to get stuck in now; DS3 has about 2 months left of his PhD funding, and has nearly completed his thesis. And has just announced he'll be coming home to job-hunt at the end of February/beginning of March, with all his books. He's been in the small bedroom when at home for the last 5 or 6 years, but he'll need a bigger room now, for an unknown length of time. The only room that's free is the one that OH has been using as his WFH office... Fitting OH's office into the small bedroom won't be a big issue (though he doesn't like the view in there!) but DS3 is going to need 2 large bookcases and a "proper" desk. So I need to redeploy a lot of books, find out what a "proper" desk looks like to him, and get hold of one, preferable without spending much money! Also we'll need to re-organise the living room so that when DS1 and his partner visit, with their dog, they can sleep downstairs... for the cats' sake, I don't want a hyperactive mini-dachshund haring up & down the stairs!
I also need to list a load of stuff on Ebay & Etsy; I'll be doing all this whilst trying not to fall over piles of vintage Laura Ashley fabric and highly-eccentric hats, because the stock from my market stall has over-spilled the available storage space whilst I haven't been able to trade & didn't realise just how long this is all going to go on.
It's all do-able, but suddenly 2 months doesn't seem so very long...Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)13 -
Goodness, this thread moves quickly - I last posted on page 32. I have read everyone's posts and you're all doing well
. Hugs to those who are a bit down or sad for one reason or another (I wish MSE had a proper range of emotion responses that we could add to posts instead of just a 'Thanks' tick, it just doesn't seem enough to express appreciation or support).
Carrying on:-
52 Coffee jar, recycled
53-56 400 e-mails deleted
57-60 Xmas cards down and recycled where possible - I stack up paperwork, cards, etc, then measure the height, therefore 4cm counts as 4 items.
61 Calendar
62 Pack of old cards. I don't know why I kept them as not too keen on the pictures and the envelopes were gummed together - all in reycling.
63-64 2 newspapers
65-66 Bags of recycling and rubbish
67 Carton of OOD nut milk
68-69 Glass bottle/jar
70-72 Old dog blankets
73 Broken lamp
74-80 5 wildlife pouches plus 2 bags for posting, off to animal rescue
The last items have been awaiting sewing up since about August, there are lots of half-finished projects lying around and I'm hoping to make some real headway on clearing these up which will clear the house up a bit too. Had to clear out and clean a large kitchen cupboard which had evidence of mouse too, but as said cupboard was mostly tins and hardware there wasn't much to go out.
Good luck x14
