Well hello mrssd and hello everyone else on this very active and useful board. Whether we are in autumn or summer (depending on northern hemisphere and whether following the farming, meteorological or astronomical calendar) the weather here in Dundee is most definitely autumnal. All 3 children (all grown up) in the house last week, super duper, dd1 flew back to NL and ds trained back to Aberdeen Sunday but not before we had gone through a few of their things - i don't mind storing but need to know what i'm storing is what they will actually want. Which is what has brought me, rather late in the year, to your lovely shiny thread. I have a plan for the house which will involve moving stuff and well as removing stuff. The guest room (was DS's room) and my bedroom are sorted. I think one room a month on average would be good for me to aim, so I'd like the craft room (was DD1's room), music room and study sorted by Christmas, and aim for 100 'things' by Christmas. For yesterday
001 box of throw away as sorted by DS now thrown away
Now to put the washing on (looks like another good drying day), clean the front room and get stuck into work emails. Like Muttley I look forward to my first shiny medal. See you later xxxMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

I tackled the condiment cupboard which was groaning at the seams last night. I think I counted 16 glass jars/bottles and five plastic ones emptied down the sink , the artery jar and in the compost bin. Absolutely shameful. Mostly things bought on whim, used a bit or tried just to try it and now seriously OOD. So I followed that up with removal of some ktichen stuff, a large frying pan, I have two and this one was scratched, so out it went followed by two normal sieves and one with a long handle for gnochhi or similar, because I had two, a knife I don't like, a plastic spatula replaced with a silicone one and a thing for making little curly bits of zest. Along with a silicone scrubber, i tried it, didn't like it and a few bits from the drawer. Next stop, food shelves for stuff we won't use [ or more accurately, I won't use] to the foodbank.@Liverpool_Anne they sound like fun bits of kit! I don't blame you for not wanting to do things for free, I was just trying to think of a way for you to use the equipment..
I like to think of us as rennaisance women, who can turn our hands to anything, whether that's cooking or making a bookcase [ I haven't made a nice bookcase yet, that was merely apsirational talk...] Women's Shed eh? Wonder how you start one of those....

Oh MrsSD what a to do with the mice family 🐭. We caught one once and made the mistake of letting it go in the garden as we didn't realise that they would come back if they were not released a couple of miles away. Early one morning DH and I had to get the fridge freezer out as a mouse ( maybe the same one) was having a lovely time running up and down the fins(?) with gay abandon 🤣 ....took us several hours to catch that one, slippery little devil. That's par for the course of living near fields I suppose, but we never made the mistake again. Did find out though that they prefer Rocky caramel biscuits over cheese, who doesn't, well at least I don't 🧀. Give me something sweet any day 🍩🍪🍰.Today I decided to get out our holiday towels and clothes to wash and freshen them up ready for our boating holiday, as we haven't been on hols for 2 years and they are all packed away. Sadly no need for shorts or strappy tops for this time but more like hats, gloves and scarves as it's at the end of October and on the Broads brrrr! 🥶 So I've washed 1 load of towels/ T towels and 2 loads of trousers, t.shirts and jumpers/ cardis/ fleece tops so we can layer up or down. Dh has gone through our walking gear and lots of it can come with us as it will double up, like our fleece snoods (hat and scarf in one) but he has finally parted with his fav walking socks as they are now heel-less and could take no more darning. Into the cs bag went several pairs of our gloves, hats and a set of wet weather gear, we have far too many of everything. Wish DH would cull the backpacks but I've already got him down to 7 from 11, so I must play the patience game. Now on my shopping list will have to be an extra pair of fleece pj's and new slippers for both of us and maybe boots for me, but then we haven't bought/needed any new clothes for the last 2 years. Very MSE.This weekend we cut 3 hedges ready for winter and I cut down my Rosemary and Mint plants for overwintering too, now one green waste bin is full. Today I have decluttered all the recycling, rubbish and the contents of the food caddy into the dustbin lorries, they only go out every 2 weeks and were not really that full.Hope everyone is well, hugs and healing vibes if not xxTake care allnan

Everyone is busy busy busy.
You do work hard at getting things just right @vulpix . Glad you are not willing to accept second best
Loved the mouse tale @mrssd. We had 7 mice in our garage all snug in a wooden box full of sharpening stones, until I found them and relocated them. Should have heard the thunder of feet as the DH and DS1 and 2 ran yelling
One bag to the CS today. It won't be long before I am getting the prebagged winter donations down from the loft.
Tomorrow I am returning a chair I swapped with DS2. His friend broke the first one and now he doesn't have one in his room in his shared house,Wife, mother, gardener, nurse, Big C survivor. I have been to my craft club today and talking of Halloween crafts made me come home and look through about 10 banana boxes in the pantry for some witches and bats which I made previously. We are going to do a fundraiser for a young boy in the village who needs about 200K for cancer treatment abroad.
In looking I found plenty that can go. Currently on the kitchen table. I have found part of a royal blue Denby tea set which could go once I find the rest of it. I did break an ornamental dish thing ,I was going to glue it but It can go in the bin. I am not so hard up for ornaments that I have to have repaired things. I think It came from a car boot sale anyway. Downstairs looks like a tip with stuff and craft stuff everywhere. Was somewhat embarrassed when Mr V's friend called round tonight. Perhaps when all this excess stuff has gone I will be tidy !!!!! hahaha I do enjoy a joke!
Love your mousie tales Mrs SD. You can tell when the weather is turning, little beasties come indoors for a bit of warmth.

I would like to join if I may. I have been decluttering for a few years, but there is always more to do. I hope to move next year, so this will keep me focused on the tasks ahead!
